SWAKOPMUND/NAMIBIA:
SWAKOPMUND is a city on the coast of northwestern Namibia, 280 km (170 mi) west of Windhoek, Namibia's capital. It is the capital of the Erongo administrative district. As a seaside resort, the weather is cooler here in December to January (Namibia's summer months) so the territorial administration moves to Swakopmund for these months. The town has 42,000 inhabitants and covers193 square kilometres (75 sq mi) of land.
Swakopmund is a beach resort and an example of German colonial architecture. It was founded in 1892 as the main harbour for German South-West Africa, and a sizable part of its population is still German-speaking today.
The city lies on the B2 road and the Trans-Namib Railway from Windhoek to Walvis Bay. It is also home to Swakopmund Airport.
Buildings in the city include the Altes Gefängnis prison, designed by Heinrich Bause in 1909. The Woermannhaus, built in 1906 with a prominent tower, is now a public library.
Attractions in Swakopmund include a Swakopmund Museum, the National Marine Aquarium, a crystal gallery and spectacular sand dunes near Langstrand south of the Swakop River. Outside of the city, the Rossmund Desert Golf Course is one of only 5 all-grass desert golf courses in the world. The city is known for extreme sports. Nearby lies a camel farm and the Martin Luther steam locomotive, dating from 1896 and abandoned in the desert.Wikipedia

Namibian Vlog 2--Atlantic Ocean Swakopmund
Swakopmund is a coastal city in Namibia, west of the capital, Windhoek. Its sandy beaches face the Atlantic Ocean. Established by German colonists in 1892, the city’s colonial landmarks include the Swakopmund Lighthouse and the Mole, an old sea wall. Next to the lighthouse, the Swakopmund Museum documents Namibian history. Inland, the elegant Swakopmund Railway Station, now a hotel, also dates to the colonial era.

Swakopmund/Walvis Bay - Swakopmund Luxury Suites
Damaraland - Damaraland Camp
Etosha National Park - Onguma The Fort
Namibia has been called the Land God Made in Anger, it is vast and wild...few countries in Africa can match Namibia's sheer natural beauty. Louis and I have been there many times and we continue to return, it is still one of our favorite safari destinations. This trip was a road trip. A way to maximize your time in Namibia is to take a plane for some of the long distances. Plenty of visitors opt for a combination of flying and driving to pack in as much as possible if you don’t have the kind of time we had... But have to say there is something special about a road trip! We had fun, easy going travelling companions and that does make all the difference!
Another thing that we think is very special about Namibia it is the first country in the world to enshrine environmental protection in its national constitution, ensuring that roughly 40 percent of the territory is designated for conservation.
