Swanage Railway - Cab-Ride: Corfe Castle to near Wareham (River Frome) 26/07/2016
Following a partial closure of the line, the Swanage Railway were running a special timetable with DMU services 'Over the Road' between Corfe Castle and the River Frome bridge, within sight of Wareham.
The closure, in effect between Swanage and Harmans Cross, follows the filming of a feature film set in the Wartime. The 'Over the Road' services, rostered with Class 108 DMU M54504+M51933, see trains run as far as the River Frome bridge - the current limit of Swanage metals - just outside Wareham. Thank you very much to the driver, Steve, and Andy for allowing me the into the Cab, and the permission to film the trip.

Swanage Railway - Scottish, Southern and Sulzer - The 2019 Spring Steam Up
Bringing a flavour of Scottish steam to the South coast, the Swanage Railway's 'Spring Steam Up' event ran under the banner of Scottish, Southern and Sulzer this year, showcasing a variety of traction over the Dorset branch line.
With three members of the operational home-fleet out of action for various reasons, it fell to last minute visitor; Ivatt designed 2MT - 46521, and resident Class 33 - 33111, to pick up the mantle for the event. The gala was headlined by the appearance of Caledonian Railway's 439 Class - 419, having returned to steam late last year, sporting its vibrant Caledonian Blue livery.
The timetable mirrored that of the Swanage Railway's Yellow timetable, bolstered by the inclusion of a demonstration freight service. Owing to its lack of haulage capacity, 419 was paired up with another steam loco for all of its services, except a local passenger set, in order to reduce the strain on the locomotive. As such, the result made for some spectacular double-headed running.
Throughout the event, Ex-LNER A3 Class - 60103 Flying Scotsman was also on static display at Corfe Castle (not filmed), as well as resident 4MT Tank - 80104 being renumbered to Scottish allocated classmate 80126 - adding to the Scottish feel of the gala.
Locomotives:
Ex-LSWR T9 Class - 30120
BR(M) Class 2MT - 46521
CR 439 Class - 419
BR Standard Class 4MT Tank - 80126 (80104)
BR Class 33 - 33111
All footage filmed on Friday the 29th, and Saturday the 30th of March 2019. Footage is not in chronological order.

The Swanage Railway starts in Swanage near the coast and is going up to the Station Norden. The Corfe Castle is one of the tourist attractions along the route. One trip with the train takes 25 minutes. There are steam and diesel engines are running. As a tourist I had the problem to find a place near the track where you can record the trains. This is a problem with most of the other railways as well. Most often the railways run through private agricultural areas where I do not dare to enter. That is why I just can make recordings only at the stations. I think this museum railway is scenically interesting.

Swanage is a coastal town and civil parish in the south east of Dorset, England. Swanage is situated at the eastern end of the Isle of Purbeck, approximately 6 ¹⁄₄ miles south of Poole and 25 miles east of Dorchester. Nearby are Ballard Down and Old Harry Rocks, with Studland Bay and Poole Harbour to the north. Within the parish are Durlston Bay and Durlston Country Park to the south of the town. The parish also includes the areas of Herston, just to the west of the town, and Durlston, just to the south.
Swanage , originally a small port and fishing village, flourished in the Victorian era, when it first became a significant quarrying port and later a seaside resort for the rich of the day. Today the town of Swanage remains a popular tourist resort, this being the town's primary industry, with many thousands of visitors coming to the town during the peak summer season, drawn by the bay's sandy beaches and other attractions.
During its history the bay was listed variously as Swanawic, Swanwich and Sandwich, and only in more recent history as Swanage. The town is located at the eastern end of the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site. The town contains many listed buildings and two conservation areas – Swanage Conservation Area and Herston Conservation Area.
Swanage has a gently sloping white sand beach which is sheltered and generally calm. The beach is well served by local businesses providing refreshments and services. For hire are deck chairs, boats, pedalos and general watersports equipment. There are amusement arcades and parks. Besides the beach, there are other local attractions including the restored Swanage steam railway and the Victorian pier. The town may also be used a base from which to visit other nearby areas of interest, such as Corfe Castle.
Swanage is accessible by main road either through Wareham and its bypass or via the Sandbanks Ferry which provides a shorter route to Bournemouth. There is a minor road connecting Swanage to East Lulworth via Corfe Castle but this passes through a military firing range and is closed during firing exercises. The main bus services are provided by Wilts & Dorset. Number 40 runs between Swanage and Poole, number 44 between Swanage and the nearby village of Worth Matravers (via Harmans Cross), and the number 50 runs between Swanage and Bournemouth via the Sandbanks Ferry.
Swanage has a King George's Field near the centre of town in memorial to King George V, which includes large playing fields, as well as skate park facilities and a hi-tech play area, both funded by community groups. Swanage bay provides a well sheltered environment for a range of watersports, including swimming, kayaking, canoeing, sailing, windsurfing and jetskiing.
( Swanage - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting the city of Swanage . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Swanage - UK

Swanage to Wareham & Back - First train for 45 years
Join us for a drivers-eye view as we journey through the beautiful Purbeck countryside in real-time, and experience the best seat in the house on the journey from Swanage to Wareham and back.
The last British Rail train ran to Corfe Castle and Swanage in January 1972.
Shortly after, the line was closed and the tracks were ripped up, leaving only a three-mile stub from the main line to Furzebrook for clay and later Wytch Farm for oil.
Few people thought that passenger trains from Swanage and Corfe Castle would ever return to Wareham, but 45 years later the towns have been reconnected.
The first public train from Swanage to Wareham ran again on Tuesday 13th June 2017, departing at 10:23am. The service was top and tailed by Class 33 Crompton No. 33012 / D6515 Lt Jenny Lewis RN which hauled the service from Swanage to Wareham, and Class 37 No. 37518. which hauled the train back to Swanage.
Tickets are now available for purchase online from our website. Follow/Like us at the links below to find out more information. We look forward to seeing you on the railway soon.

Swanage on Boxing Day 2016 [4K]
A video capturing the Boxing Day vibes at Swanage, England with my parents, grandparents and extended family (whom I had never previously met).
These Boxing Day videos are now a regular occurrence that have become really important to me. Since 2014, my family and I have travelled to a different place in England outside London on Boxing Day and I attempt to capture the positive vibes and creatively catalogue what we do as a family for my own memories. No matter how busy I may be, I now take a week out for Christmas and New Year's celebrations each year to make a video like this. It reminds me how important it is to enjoy my creative craft and make content for myself rather than my clients sometimes. In the distant future, I'll have something tangible to look back on and I imagine that these videos will be more special than any photo album could be. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I did making it!
