GRUYERES, SWITZERLAND • Chocolate, Cheese, Repeat.
Mel and I arrived at our next stop in Europe in Switzerland with our good friends Stacey and Joel. We went on a couple outing to two authentic Swiss chocolate and cheese factories, because why not? We stopped at the Nestle Cailler Chocolate Factory first, which had every chocolate thing you could ever imagine. Then we went to a Swiss cheese factory where there was LOTS of Gruyere. We stopped in the town of Gruyeres after to have even MORE cheese. If you are a fan of chocolate or cheese, come here. If you’re not then we can’t be friends. Oh and we also hung out at a castle.

Plus, when you board the train, you're greeted with coffee or hot chocolate and a bunch of tiny chocolate goodies. So basically, it's the greatest.

The Cailler Chocolate Train at Broc in July 2010
The GoldenPass Cailler-Nestle Chocolate train departs Broc-Fabrique on Monday 12th July 2010. First we see the empty stock arrive from Bulle. Passengers are transfered by bus from Gruyères cheese factory. The MOB GDe4/4 no. 6003 Saanen departs on the 15:55 Broc-Fabrique to Montreux return. This locomotive was built in 1983 by SLM/BBC and was painted in the gold chocolate train livery in April 2009. Wikipedia notes that in 1983 this locomotive broke the record for Swiss narrow gauge trains with a speed of 110 km/h. Visit anbrico.com to buy this and many other transport DVDs.
