Travel Sydney, Australia - Visit The Sydney Harbor Bridge
Take a tour of Sydney Harbor Bridge in Sydney, Australia -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.
The Sydney Harbor Bridge is an iconic part of Sydney's skyline and Australia's image in general.
Nicknamed The Coat Hanger, this steel through arch bridge is among the world's tallest and widest of its kind.
The bridge connects Sydney's central business district and the North Shore.
The expanding and contracting of the steel, due to heat or cold, makes the bridge sway slightly.
The bridge weighs around 52,000 tons, and is held together by millions of hand-driven rivets.
It has been the site of many celebrations of national pride, including the 2000 Olympics and countless New Years Eves.
The bridge has rail, automobile, bike and pedestrian traffic, and continues to be a tourist and lookout attraction.

Australia welcomes 2020 with firework celebrations on Sydney Harbour
Sydney's New Year celebrations went off with a bang as hundreds of fireworks were launched from the Harbour Bridge at midnight.
It is a moment to enjoy for residents after the city was choked by thick smoke from wildfires.
But some campaigned for the event to be cancelled out of respect for those whose homes were destroyed in surrounding towns in New South Wales.

Sydney's Harbour Bridge
Made by the Cinema Branch 1933. Directed by Lyn T Maplestone. Officially opened on 19 March 1932, the Sydney Harbour Bridge was a massive engineering undertaking that transformed the city. This short film documents the construction of one of the world's great landmarks in its various stages, and provides a fascinating glimpse of life around Sydney Harbour and Circular Quay in the twenties and thirties. The Cinema Branch regularly filmed events of special interest to the nation. There were at least 3 different films on the progress of the bridge. Sydney's Harbour bridge was filmed over several years and edited to celebrate the opening.

New Year's 2020: Sydney puts on famous fireworks display | FULL
More than a million people gathered around a hazy Sydney harbour on Tuesday to watch Australia's famous New Year's fireworks despite the ongoing wildfire crisis ravaging New South Wales, Australia’s most populous state.
The fireworks were launched from seven barges around the harbour, as well as the iconic Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Some communities have cancelled New Year’s fireworks celebrations, but Sydney Harbour’s popular display was granted an exemption to a total fireworks ban that is in place there and elsewhere to prevent new wildfires.
City of Sydney Mayor Clover Moore said planning for the fireworks began 15 months ago and most of the budget had already been allocated.
What did you think of the show?
