Sydney Park -St Peters
Sydney Park many years ago was nicknamed the brick pits or Tempe tip. Today it has been transformed into 40 acres of grassy open space, hills, several lakes, streams, lookouts, children's playground, wetlands with water features and a massive off the leash dog park.The park is limited in parking and toilets for the size it is and you need to be early to get a parking spot. There are lots to see and do, and the best way to get around the parks 5km circuit is by bikes, our family did it on scooters, or if you have plenty of time on your hands you can walk it. Just note that there is a 4hr time limit for parking in the bays. If you want to learn to ride a bike or learn bike safety rules go to the Sydney Park Cycling Centre also within the park, they have scaled down roads with real working traffic lights, lined roads and zebra crossings to teach kids, i think its free. There is also a kiosk inside the park if you want a coffee or a snack. The park also has barbeque facilities as well.

Ask any Sydney resident about the first thing that pops into their mind when they hear the name Sydney Park and chances are they’ll tell you about the tall chimneys that rise above the former brickworks site.
The brick kilns have not been used for more than 60 years but the historic structures remain, providing an instantly recognisable landmark in the north-western corner of the park.
However, Sydney Park is much more than just brick chimneys.
The park is in St Peters, on the fringes of the city south. The open space is made of 40 hectares of lush grass, landscaped gardens, rolling hills, meandering pathways and picturesque wetlands. Creeks flow throughout the park and attract all different types of birds. There are plenty of spacious viewing decks that are perfectly placed to make sure you can take it all in as long as you like. Sydney Park is popular for weekend picnics and it’s very dog friendly.
A large children’s playground will probably have the grown-ups mesmerised just as much as the kids. The tactile, one-of-a-kind playground includes many different types of equipment that will keep children entertained for hours, as well as several elements that will stimulate their senses of touch, hearing and sight.
Parts of Sydney Park are accessible, such as the playground, some paths and toilets, but it does contain some steep hills. It is home to the AIDS Memorial Grove. The Sydney Park Cycling Centre is within the grounds, providing a space for families to learn about cycling and road safety. Cafés, barbecue facilities near the children's bike track and near the wetlands, and public toilets are also available in the park.
If you’re heading to the park by public transport, St Peters train station is just across the road. There are also a few bus routes that stop nearby, such as the 370 and 422. Look for routes that travel down Sydney Park Road, Princes Highway and King Street. Three car parks are available, two of which feature accessible parking bays.

Sydney park dog park - St Peters, Sydney
This park has it all - dogs off leash at all times, wetlands complete with ducks, a large oval, the Sydney Park Cycling Centre, playground and barbecue areas.
The Sydney Park dog park has huge rolling grounds. You could easily spend an hour walking around the park - perhaps longer if you're distracted by four legged friends.
There's also a kiosk/cafe in the park grounds that serves everything from coffee to your morning breakfast.
As an added bonus the park has it's own car park - although it gets very busy on the weekend.
Birds of Sydney Park
Sydney Park is a 40 hectare green space created from old brickpits subsequently used as a landfill site. The park is sandwiched between the city's Southern Industrial Area and the densely-populated suburbs of Newtown, Erskineville, Alexandria and St Peters.
The park is a masterpiece of urban green space design incorporating the city's biggest stormwater recycling scheme which maximises the wildlife habitat potential of the park's wetlands.
As at 2018, around 70 bird species have been recorded in the park. Some species are full-time residents, some are transients, and for some it's a seasonal destination with a couple of species arriving from Japan and Siberia.
The park's wetlands are especially valuable because freshwater wetlands are a rare thing along Australia's east coast.

Sydney Park is a large recreational area in the inner-city area of Sydney. It's smokestacks are a landmark which were once part of the former Austral brick works. The parkland is in the suburb of St Peters, sitting along the borders of Alexandria, Newtown and Erskineville.

There is a duck pond and also a bike track for older kids and adults that goes around and through the whole park with lots of turns and hills to make it more challenging.

Blaxland Riverside Park -Silverwater
Blaxland Riverside Park is one of the biggest parks that we have reviewed. Situated next to the Parramatta river you can go fishing or enjoy a lovely walk or ride along the river path. There are plenty of play equipment scattered throughout the park and is ideal for the older kids. It's water play feature of fountains and spray is popular during the warmer months so don't forget those swimmers.There are toilets, many shelters, a cafe, bubbler and barbeques throughout the park. Wind your way up to the lookout for a birds eye view of the whole park.
Don't forget to head down to the far end of the park near the Armoury next to the river for a relaxing walk.

Burrell Road Riverside Park -Spring Farm
Opened in September 2017, with beautiful lake views, the park has plenty of new and unusual equipment for the toddler up to the bigger kids. It also has fitness equipment for you to train with. The path that circles the play equipment runs along the lake to the dog park and is great for scooting, jog ,walk or bike around. There are plenty of under cover bbq tables. Take your dog for a walk at the dog park and a run through the dog circuit. There are plenty of opened spaces for a game of touch football, ample on street parking.Just need the young trees to grow for added shade and beauty, there are no toilet facilities at the park.
