For every speedway racer since 1926 who ever turned a wheel on the hallowed ribbon of dirt, this one is for you. And to the men who lost their lives, we salute you. To the fans, and to the people who took the Royale away from us, there will never be another Sydney Showground. Thank you to all my friends and contributors for the making of this short video.

Sydney Showground is the events precinct at Sydney Olympic Park. It was established in 1998 as a purpose-built home for major events as part of the NSW Government's multi-million dollar development of the site for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
We are an integral part of the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS), a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to promoting excellence in agriculture. Every year, we host the Sydney Royal Easter Show, the flagship event of the RAS and the nation's largest annual event. Our profits are invested back into supporting Australian agriculture and rural communities.
Sydney Showground is located in the heart of the Sydney Metro area making it the ideal venue for large exhibitions, concerts, festivals and other events.

1965 Australian Solo Championship Sydney Showground
They're up at the tapes ladies and gentlemen. So said the Sydney Showground mike man in 1965 during the Australian solo title at the Royale. A once-only, the recorded tape was hidden in a cardboard box for 50 years before being loaned out by Jim Airey. With the help of narrator Ken Preece, his colour photos compliment his work and that of rider-turned-announcer Barry Hopkin, sadly killed racing at the venue ten months later (20-minute highlights).
