Sylvan Glen - December on the Ganaraska River (Port Hope, ON - 2015)
This video was shot on a late December afternoon, at Sylvan Glen Conservation Area. This park is located a short distance north of Port Hope, Ontario. During my visit, the wind howled at times. Geese were flying southwest in various formations, including a large V-formation. Since it was unseasonably warm, very little ice could be seen. However, what little ice there was did make for some beautiful formations.
Sylvan Glen: Spring on the Ganaraska River (Port Hope, ON May 2015)
The sound of birds chirping accompanied the bright green leaves of the vegetation along the Ganaraska River just north of Port Hope. Spring is an excellent time to visit Sylvan Glen Conservation Area, located along a bend in the river. These sights during the month of May make an already picturesque location even more scenic. There were certain times during my visit that plenty of birds were able to be seen, as well as heard, along the riverbank.
This video was shot in mid-May, 2015.

Watch Salmon Runs at Port Hope Ontario
The epic journey of salmons battling their way up Ganaraska river near Port Hope, Ontario. Each pair of salmons could lay thousands of eggs but only 10 would grow up and successfully made their way back to their birth place. However, 8 out of the 10 fishes would end up on the dinning tables of the anglers whom by far are the greatest threats to the salmons.

Porthope Salmon run and fish ladder in October
September will start to show the immense Chinook Salmon. These fish will achieve sizes of 30 to 40 pounds. A trip to the fish ladder is always magical to watch the power of these majestic creatures as they jump the ladder. Mixed in with this run you may see silvery Coho Salmon and migratory Brown Trout in their vibrant spawning colours.
The Port Hope Conservation Area is a popular fishing place just north of the Hwy. 401 Bridge. Other good spots to try are Gages Creek at the east end of town, Sylvan Glen Conservation Area, north of town, and the pond at the Garden Hill Conservation Area. All provide excellent fishing opportunities.
