It was a beautiful day to go out for a wander in Sylvia Grinnell Territorial Park Labour Day. It's funny to think it's within walking distance from our house, but it's easier to drive, obviously. But once you are at the park, you go over a hill and the city is gone. What a gorgeous place to find people fishing for Arctic char and hunting for berries. Watch out for the polar bears, though. Yes, there is a sign, and there was one there this summer.

Thousands of arctic char under Sylvia Grinnell Falls
The thousands of arctic char at Sylvia Grinnell Falls, located just outside of Iqaluit, Nunavut, Canada, on Baffin Island, on August 28, 2011 were just stacked on top of each other. All of the small ripples you see in the eddies are the fins of arctic char sticking out of the water. As you can see in the video, people were catching them with dipnets and bare hooks.

In this video we pick up my mom and dad from the Iqaluit Airport, and then take them to Sylvia Grinnell Territorial Park here in Iqaluit. The road there is super bumpy! On the way home we drive by the sled dogs, who had just had their dinners and were hanging out outside.
