We are on the north side of the astronomy observatory and the stars are as bright as you can find on the peninsula - without the city lights - particularly from up the hill at the barn. It seems like a small thing to start with, but it is something that takes you back to your childhood. (You only have to spend a few minutes outside to hear the owls.)
Quiet and scenic winding country road - yet only 3 minutes to the pat bay highway, 6 minutes to royal oak drive (broadmeade village - amenities)
Close to so many different sports and recreational activities…
- Top cycling routes - Old West Saanich Road is on any cyclist’s list of favourite routes. For some it’s because of the many wineries.

- Do some gardening, or produce more than enough for your family with options to sell your excess with a roadside stand. Plenty of room if your planning to get farm status and make a job of it. Or just give your kids som space to play outdoors. Already producing on the property… Cherries, plums, apples, pear, raspberries, thornless black berries and grapes… Not enough grapes to make wine, but enough to cover a shaded trellis.

This is the heart of Saanich’s berry farms, wineries, veggies and more… To name a few, Dan’s Farm Market, Oldfield Orchards, Phil’s Berry Farm, SunWing Greenhouses, Wineries (Starling Lane, DeVine, Symphony, and Victoria Spirits just down the road). You could walk to all of these places but most likely you’ll find yourself stopping in on you way home from work or a day out.
- Eggs. Free Range - you’ll find them in all directions. the kind with orange yolks and flavour.
- learn from your neighbours who have horses, sheep, alpacas,
- If you’d rather have somebody else prepare your morning coffee, walk or drive to Mosi’s Cafe, Bakery and Gelato.

Performed Feb 12, 2016 at Sleeping Dog Farm, Saanich, BC, Canada.
Lyrics:
I don’t want to write a song today
Each new chord’s a picture window in the way
Because every door I open up
Is one door more you could choose to shut
And the No Good Monster will hate it anyway
I don’t want to write a song today
Each new word is much too tired or too cliched
Because every doubt I vocalize
Is one doubt more in someone’s eyes
And the No Good Monster will hate it anyway
I don’t want to write a song today
Each new bridge is losing bricks in rash decay
Because every brick I cornerstone
Is one brick more that cannot be thrown
And the No Good Monster will hate it anyway
The No Good Monster
The No Good Monster
The No Good Monster’s a slithering bird of prey
Who will judge you in every way
I don’t want to write a song today
Each new verse is like a home in disarray
Because every love I speculate
Is one love more with a permanent fate
And the No Good Monster will hate it anyway
The No Good Monster will hate it anyway
The No Good Monster will hate it
Because every door I open up is
One door more you could choose to shut
And the No Good Monster will hate it anyway
The No Good Monster will hate it anyway
