A snapshot of the amazing wildlife in two very different areas of North Queensland: the Tyto Wetlands, Ingham, and the never-been-logged rainforest remnants of the Atherton Tablelands near Cairns. Here, crimson finches, riflebirds, pademelons and cassowaries vie for your attention with agile wallabies and coppery brushtail possums. Oh, and there are waterfalls... and turtles... and a scary spider too.

Tyto Wetlands via INGHAM North Queensland Australia in July
Ingham is so fortunate to have the Tyto Wetlands literally on its doorstep. I am always astounded at how few people have ventured in to take advantage of such a peaceful place. These photos capture Tyto at its best on a perfectly clear winter's afternoon. I seriously love coming here...just to sit....
