Day 6:
After many days of rain, we decided to take a bike to visit Ta Phin Village. However, on our way, we crashed into a tree branch. Patrick gotta take the bike back to Sapa to have it fixed and I moved on to Ta Phin by hitchhiking. It was not that bad.
And there in Ta Phin, I learned about Dzao people and their lives.

The Red Dao hill tribe population of Sapa are one subdivision of Dao people living in the highlands of North Vietnam. Red Dao women are considered the most skilled embroiders of all hill tribes. Their scarlet drenched essembles are sophisticated examples of hand stitched cultural symbology and showcase generations of dedication to sewn storytelling. The Red Dao wedding dress is seen as the summit of success in a womens sewing accomplishments. Hygiene awareness meeting in Ta Giang Phin schools (Sapa, Vietnam)
Here is the video of our meeting in Ta Giang Phin, organized in the middle of a charity day which had assembled the two schools of the village! Before the festivities begin, we raised awareness to 375 children about the lack of hygiene's risks and so, the importance of basics hygiene gestures.
We have distributed a total of 306 soaps (including 75 recycled soaps by Soap for Hope program) and 16 educational kits for pre-school and primary schools of Ta Giang Phin!
When a Village was Heard - Capilano U / PATA Foundation Tourism Project (Sapa, Vietnam)
A community tourism training project in the Sapa region of Northern Vietnam operated by Capilano University Vancouver, Canada, and Hanoi Open University, Vietnam, and supported by the PATA Foundation.
The project features tourism training to help sustain vulnerable ethnic cultures and maximize benefits of tourism to small and unique villages in Northern Vietnam. Training is done by Capilano and Hanoi Open University students and faculty.
This video is illustrative of a second two-year project that will look to enhance networks between the village of Taphin and private sector tourism companies. The project will also deliver tourism training in the Hmong community of Lao Chai.

Located far from Sapa less than 10 kilometers, Ta Van - a village of Lao Cai province is lying peacefully in the valley of Muong Hoa. Residents are mainly the H'Mong ethnic, Giay, and Red Dao... with approximately 1000 people. The local people here, every day they go into the forest and cut the herbal plants to use for bath because according to their experience, these plants can treat many illness.
