Things to do in Cape Town.
Check out the hike up the other side of Table Mountain
Table Mountain, now officially one of the 7 Natural wonders of the world, is also one of the most iconic landmarks on earth. It's absolutely no wonder that Cape Town has become a number tourist destination. A visit to the top is a must do for locals and tourists alike as it provides brilliant views over the city, Camps Bay, Table Bay, the West Coast to the north and the Cape Peninsula to the south. The Cable Car is the best option for those that have limited fitness and time. For those looking to stretch their legs and to get a little more in touch with nature, there are a number of hikes to the top. We opted for Platteklip Gorge. This route is said to be the easiest. With roughly 1,5 to 2 hours of natural stairs leading the way, we would definitely call it the quickest, but not necessarily the easiest. But if you pack a lunch, take lots of water and take your time to leisurely enjoy the views, the people, the plants and the animals there should be no excuse not to try this hike at least once in your life. Add it to your bucket-list today.
Please give us a thumbs up.

South Africa Adventure: Cape Town and Stellenbosch - Pilot Lindy VLOG #60
// CAPE TOWN & STELLENBOSCH - A helicopter flight over the Cape Peninsula, visiting Penguins in Boulders Beach, riding horses near giraffes and zebras in Stellenbosch: An AMAZING START of our holidays in South Africa!
A lifelong dream came true: We visited South Africa! We were there for 12 days and really made the most out of it!! This video is the first of the three South Africa VLOGs that I made and is all about our first 4 days in South Africa.
DAY 1: Arrived to Cape Town, visited the Table Mountain (but the cableway was closed) and drove to Signal Hill (near Lion's Head) to relax and watch the sunset.
DAY 2: We woke up in our bed&breakfast in Woodstock district and walked to the Old Biscuit Mill where on Saturdays there is a market. We had breakfast there and did some shopping! We then took the car to the V&A waterfront, walked to Bo-Kaap to see the colourful houses and when back at the waterfront, the helicopter was waiting for us to take us on a 25-minute flight over the Cape Peninsula and around the Table Mountain. We saw the twelve apostles from the air! We then relaxed the rest of the day in Cape Town.
DAY 3: A rainy day in Cape Town, but regardless of the weather we got in the car to visit the Cape Peninsula as planned. We took the Chapman Peak Drive, which because of the weather wasn't as spectacular as it should have been! But arriving to Simon's Town and spotting the first penguins at Boulders Beach, really made our day! After seeing hundreds of penguins with their babies, we continued our trip to Cape Point and Cape of Good Hope. Spectacular! On the way back, we took the Chapman Peak Drive again, during sunset. The view was AMAZING!
DAY 4: We left our bed&breakfast and drove in one hour to Stellenbosch. We went horse riding through a sanctuary and saw many springboks, zebra's and even giraffes very close to us! Our guide said that it was the first time that mommy-giraffe let us be so close to her newborn!! When leaving the sanctuary, we passed on the horse through the vineyards and finished with a nice wine tasting, as Stellenbosch is famous for the wine! We had planned to stay in Stellenbosch the rest of the day, but there was one thing we felt we still really had to do: Go to the top of the Table Mountain! So we drove back to Cape Town and the cableway was open! We were very very happy to have seen the view from up there! After sunset we drove back to Stellenbosch to have some good rest for the next day.
Our South Africa adventure will continue through the Garden Route, De Hoop Nature Reserve, Plettenberg Bay, Tsitsikamma National Park, Port Elizabeth and Addo Elephant National Park, but all of that you will see in the next VLOG!
Thank you for watching and I can't wait to show you part two of this awesome South African Adventure!
Enjoy watching!!

Best Route up Table Mountain in Cape Town
We decided to take a team up the India Venster hiking trail on Table Mountain on the 18th November 2017.
Most people go up the recommended safer route called Platteklip Gorge. This route is made up of rocks that form steps and zig-zag all the up to the top and has the same view in throughout the journey. Its still a great way up.
But if you're the type of person that loves challenging yourself and a change of scenery through different sections that involves scrambling and getting the best views of Cape Town via the less traveled route... Then this hike is perfect for you.
Then the India Venster Route up Table Mountain is definitely for you.

Hiking Notions - From Kirstenbosch Gardens to Table Mountain 1 - Cape Town - 2016
You want to climb a mountain? Then climb it.
So we did.
We followed a new path up a familiar mountain. Discovering beauty in your hometown is like finding treasure under your couch. Rewarding and oh so satisfying. It does make you question why you had not looked there before.
This is something I have been wondering since I decided to have a new outlook on things. I wanted to have adventures so I did. Once you start making your adventures happen you realize what have I been doing with all that time where I wasn't challenging myself and discovery. It can be a saddening fact but it also can be motivation to make the most of the time you have now. Continue the journey and never slip back into old habits.
Through the vast greenery of the Kirstenbosch gardens, I was in constant awe. This route was the jungle vibes I had seen in movies and it was all in my backyard. Besides literally having my breath taken away by all the exercise I wanted to stay and play in this new environment. Photograph every leaf. Discover something new. But upward and onward was the goal.
Great friends make perfect motivators because climbing a mountain is not easy. You want to rest and quit all the time. Once you get over that the reward of achieving something is so worth all the pain.
5 TIPS to survive Table Mountain, Cape Town
Enjoy your visit to South African. When you visit Cape Town in South Africa, then you will no doubt visit Table Mountain. To make the most of your visit to Table Mountain, I have put together a list of Table Mountain Tips for you.
Table Mountain Tips:
1. Buy tickets online in advance: This is the best place to find Table Mountain Cable car prices.
2. The cable car interior rotates 360 degrees, so you don’t have to try to push for the front.
3. For the budget conscious you can walk either or both ways up and down the mountain. I’d suggest cable car up and walk down. Hiking table mountain is not for the faint hearted.
4. The weather is unpredictable, so bring both summer (sunscreen included) and winter / wind gear so that you are prepared.
5. Stick to walkways and paths.
6. At the entrance there is a wifi lounge which is not usually very busy.

The main feature of Table Mountain is the level plateau approximately 3 kilometres (2 mi) from side to side, edged by impressive cliffs. The plateau, flanked by Devil's Peak to the east and by Lion's Head to the west, forms a dramatic backdrop to Cape Town. This broad sweep of mountainous heights, together with Signal Hill, forms the natural amphitheatre of the City Bowl and Table Bay harbour. The highest point on Table Mountain is towards the eastern end of the plateau and is marked by Maclear's Beacon, a stone cairn built in 1865 by Sir Thomas Maclear for trigonometrical survey. It is 1,086 metres (3,563 ft) above sea level, and about 19 metres (62 ft) higher than the cable station at the western end of the plateau.
The cliffs of the main plateau are split by Platteklip Gorge (Flat Stone Gorge), which provides an easy and direct ascent to the summit and was the route taken by António de Saldanha on the first recorded ascent of the mountain in 1503.[4]
The flat top of the mountain is often covered by orographic clouds, formed when a south-easterly wind is directed up the mountain's slopes into colder air, where the moisture condenses to form the so-called table cloth of cloud. Legend attributes this phenomenon to a smoking contest between the Devil and a local pirate called Van Hunks.[5] When the table cloth is seen, it symbolizes the contest.
Table Mountain is at the northern end of a sandstone mountain range that forms the spine of the Cape Peninsula that terminates approximately 50 km to the south at the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point. Immediately to the south of Table Mountain is a rugged plateau at a somewhat lower elevation than the Table Mountain Plateau (at about 1000 m), called the Back Table. The Back Table extends southwards for approximately 6 km to the Constantia Nek-Hout Bay valley. The Atlantic side of the Back Table, is known as the Twelve Apostles, which extends from Kloof Nek (the saddle between Table Mountain and Lion's Head) to Hout Bay. The eastern side of this portion of the Peninsula's mountain chain, extending from Devil's Peak, the eastern side of Table Mountain (Erica and Fernwood Buttresses), and the Back Table to Constantia Nek, does not have single name, as on the western side. It is better known by the names of the conservation areas on its lower slopes: Groote Schuur Estate, Newlands Forest, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Cecilia Park, and Constantia Nek.
