HIKING Australia's Tabletop mountain / QLD
Tabletop mountain is on the edge of Toowoomba and provides vast views of the Lockyer Valley. The climb itself can be quite demanding for some, there are a lot of large steps over the camel's hump and a scramble just before the summit. There is a circuit all the way around the top of the mountain.

Climbing Tabletop Mountain - Toowoomba
Climbed up Tabletop with my brother in law Davorin, his eldest daughter and my two eldest boys. Left the young kids at home with the mothers :) Great day and the kids did a champion effort. Loved spending the quality time with them with no electronic devices (except for the GoPro of course!).

So I decided to climb Table Top to catch the Sunrise. It was well worth it.
I recommended it to anyone who loves nature and adventure. There's a lot of little nice spots to sit down on and just listen to birds singing, feel the wind through your hair, breathe in clean air and relax.
REVIEW
Climbing Table Top for the purpose of catching the Sunrise is something I would recommend to anybody.
You don't have to be a fitness freak to be able to climb it.
It only took me Approximately 25 to 30 minutes to get to the Top.
REMINDER:
1.Don't forget to bring your Mobile Phone in case of Emergency.
The phone reception is pretty strong up there.
2. Bring sunscreen, sun glasses and clothing to protect you from the Sun.
3. Bring Water
4. Wear well gripped and well fitted shoes, as you're gonna have to step over lose rocks and dirt.
5. Bring a Torch if you're planning on going before the Sunrise.
6. Bring a Camera and take some breath taking photos.
I wouldn't recommend climbing it when it's raining or too dark.

Hiking in Australia. Tabletop Toowoomba.
Anyone looking for a beautiful and moderately challenging hike it is hard to go past Toowoomba's Tabletop Mountain.
Toowoomba lies an hour an half drive west of Brisbane and worth visiting as a day trip or as a weekender. Table top mountain is just on the outskirts of Toowoomba along Tabletop Drive.
Getting to the top of the mountain is a combination of hiking, rock hopping, scrambling and a little bit of climbing. Overall it is not hard if you take it easy and don't rush, but you will want a reasonable level of fitness. Going up and back the hike takes about two hours.
Also be prepared to be passed by Toowoomba locals who often do the hike every weekend. We were passed by a couple who were planning to do the hike twice that day.
The top of the mountain is a treeless plateau affording you beautiful 360 degree views and a great place to stop for a picnic if the weather is mild. The lack of trees might make it a little too hot in summer and in winter the wind might make it a little too cold. However on the sunny Autumn day that we did this hike it was perfect.
If you don't feel like carrying your lunch to the summit you can the hike in the morning and return to Toowoomba and enjoy the views of Tabletop mountain from Picnic Point Park. Toowoomba also has wonderful restaurants and pubs where you can enjoy country dining after hiking.

Picnic Point - Toowoomba
The Picnic Point Park and lookout is a popular Toowoomba spot for leisurely coffees, family picnics, and short walks. Located on a peak in the Great Dividing Range it provides excellent panoramas out onto the Lockyer Valley plains below and is the starting point for a range of walks down the escarpment and through the bush below ranging from a short 500m stroll to a 5km track.
Be greeted upon entry with an avenue of mature hoop pine (Auracaria cunnninghamii) and South Queensland kauri (Agathis robusta) before the parklands open into manicured lawns. Pre-pack a picnic or use the free barbecues and find a quiet patch of grass under a bunya tree, or stop by the cafe and restaurant and take in the views over a coffee or a delicious breakfast, lunch or dinner. It's the perfect spot for bird watching and quiet contemplation.
There’s plenty of space, a children's playground, and picnic facilities. In the restaurant, you can order a coffee, snack or meal and eat inside or out on the patio with spectacular views out over the valley.
The man-made waterfall provides an attractive backdrop for family photos and the kids will love climbing across the stepping stones with very little chance of getting really wet. The whole area is beautifully planted and especially if you get up here around the Toowoomba Flower Festival when a lot of work goes into ensuring every flower bed around town is looking its best.
