Jangtsa Dungtse Lhakhang (Paro, Bhutan)
Jangtsa Dungtse Lhakhang is a chorten like temple at about one km from Paro town. It is clearly visible from the bridge on Paro Chu river. You have to cross the river Paro chu through the bridge and go a km or less to reach the lhakhang. This lhakhang is very old and was built in 15th century. It has three floors representing hell, earth and heaven. The inside looked dark because we went from bright daylight outside. The buddha temple and paintings inside are very beautiful. There is a big prayer wheel in the front and many small prayer wheels on the walls of the lhakhang. There is also a water driven prayer wheel near the Lhakhang. As the water fountain flows through the wheel the wheel rotates automatically by the force of water..

Jangtsa Dumtseg Lhakhang : Paro, Bhutan
Jangtsa Dumgtseg Lhakhang is a Buddhist temple in western Bhutan. The temple is notable as it is in the form of a chorten, very rare in Bhutan. It is located on the edge of a hill between the Paro valley and the Dopchari valley, across the bridge from Paro. The Buddhist iconography depicted in the Chorten is considered a unique repository of the Drukpa Kagyu school.
Lhakhang was built by the saint Thangtong Gyalpo to subdue a serpentine force that was located at the foundation of the chorten. Another legend says that Lhakhang was built on the head of a demoness. According to a Bhutanese source it was built on the nose of a hill that loos like a frog in order to counteract Sadag (earth-owning spirit) and Lunyen (powerful naga spirit). It is said that the hill, by which the temple is built, is a black vicious snake moving downwards.

Rinpung Dzong is a large dzong - Buddhist monastery and fortress of the Drukpa Lineage of the Kagyu school in Paro District in Bhutan. It houses the district Monastic Body and government administrative offices of Paro Dzongkhag.
In the 15th century local people offered the crag of Hungrel at Paro to Lama Drung Drung Gyal, a descendant of Pajo Drugom Zhigpo. Drung Drung Gyal built a small temple there and later a five storied Dzong or fortress which was known as Hungrel Dzong.
In the 17th century, his descendants, the lords of Hungrel, offered this fortress to the Drukpa hierarch, Ngawang Namgyal, the Zhabdrung Rinpoche, in recognition of his religious and temporal authority. In 1644 the Zhabdrung dismantled the existing dzong and laid the foundations of a new dzong. In 1646 the dzong was reconsecrated and established as the administrative and monastic centre of the western region and it became known as Rinpung Dzong.
Some scenes in the 1993 film Little Buddha were filmed in this dzong.
