Exotic RAW KOREAN SEAFOOD at the Taejongdae Clam Tents | Busan, South Korea
My adventures in South Korea continued in the coastal city of Busan, where my travel buddy Sam and I tried some of the most exotic seafood I’ve ever eaten in my life! Come along with us as we attempt to eat some of the most unique food on the planet in Busan!
FEATURED TRAVELER:
Sam:
We started at the Taejongdae Resort Park on an island off the coast of downtown. The park is a beautiful area – it’s natural, there are temples and a lighthouse, and tons of seafood options including clams, mussels, scallops, and much more in the clam tents right on the beach! I couldn’t wait to eat and explore the park!
We met a fan from India as we headed down to the beach. It was clams galore! We found a place selling an assortment of seafood including some creatures that squired water when the woman cut them! It cost us about 60 won, or around $50 USD for a big seafood feast.
We watched as the woman cut up everything for us. There were so many exotic things I had never seen.
We started with an appetizer of mussels and veggies with sauces. First, I cleaned my hands with a wipe and dug into the mussels, which were so fresh and succulent. It was so good in the sauce, which was sweet, sour, and spicy.
Next, I tried the carrots and cucumber with the sauce and enjoyed a Cass beer. Then the main course came out. It was all raw! There was clam and octopus, which was still moving! There was also a type of big oyster and a second type of clam.
I started with the octopus, which was super fresh and chewy. I tried it with the sauce, which was like a spicy ketchup. Then I tried what I thought was a clam, but the clam was under it. The clam was delicious! The other was tough, even with the sauce.
The next item was like a cross between an oyster and clam. It was soft and like drinking the sea! I didn’t know what half the things were, and I nearly broke a tooth on the next item! Next was a softer item that was delicious, like a big mussel. I’d never had fresh seafood like this!
Some of them were like eating a worm from the sea! I didn’t like it, so I moved on to another item that had a nice flavor and was like a thick mussel. I went back for some octopus, which got stuck to the side of the bowl. I had to chew it really well so it wouldn’t get stuck to the inside of my throat!
What an experience! Then it was Sam’s time to try the mussels, which we both enjoyed. Sam enjoyed the smooth, soft texture.
We finished up with some complimentary rice with seaweed, which was delicious and a great way to end our meal. It was the best part of the meal! The raw, exotic seafood was a good one-and-done experience. It wasn’t my favorite meal, though. Come to tent number 5 to try this meal!
Next, we went for a hike up the hill where we started from. We reached the park entrance, where there were lots of trees. Our first stop was a tiny temple that was built to prevent people from taking their own lives. There was a Buddha and lots of flags from other countries. The best part was the music playing!
Next, we visited the South Port viewing point, which had an amazing view! There was a nice ocean breeze and we could see the ships on the water. We reached the observation deck, which had amazing views over the ocean. Ahead of us was Tea Kettle Island and a lot of other islands!
Then, we hiked down a few hundred steps to the lighthouse, which was built in 1906. It boasted more incredible views. Five minutes later, we reached a temple that houses pieces of the holy relics from the Buddha and two trees that were donated by the Sri Lankan government.
I hope you enjoyed coming with us to Taejongdae! If you did, please give this video a thumbs up, leave a comment, and please subscribe!

In Haeundae I did eat the famous:
1- Odeng / Eomuk Tang
These are fishcake on skewers served with hot broth (preferred during the cold weather).
Note: “Odeng” is derived from the Japanese word of “Oden”, while “Eomuk” is the native Korean word. “Tang” refers to soup.
2- Gimbap
Gimbap or kimbap is like a sushi roll, made from steamed white rice (bap) and various other ingredients such as vegetables and pickles, rolled in gim and served in bite-size slice.
Thanks for watching! See you out there, living your dream.

Things to do in BUSAN Part 1- TAEJONGDAE
Taejongdae, a park located at the southern end of Yongdo Island, commands magnificent views. The name Taejongdae comes from the fact that King Taejong Muyol of the Shilla Dynasty was infatuated with this scenery and made frequent visits to this area. This location is the closest point to the Japanese island of Tsushima, which you can see from Taejongdae on a fine day

Taejongdae Resort Park 11/22/2019
Busan, South Korea
November 22, 2019
Taejongdae Resort Park is considered as one of the must-visit places in Busan as it offers coastal scenery and evergreen forests. It was named after King Taejong Muyeol (CE 604 – 661), the 29th King of the Silla Kingdom, who enjoyed practicing archery in the place.
Visitors explore the area either by walking or by hopping aboard the Danubi Train for just 3,000 won. The Danubi Train travels to the Observation Deck, Yeongdo Lighthouse and Taejongsa Temple.
The three-story Observation Deck allows the visitors a panoramic view of the vast blue sea and cliffs. From the Observation Deck, the next destination is the Yeongdo Lighthouse which was built with an art and natural history galleries. The last stop is the Taejongsa Temple, a Buddhist temple, in the middle of a serene forest. The Taejongsa Temple is known for its wonderful atmosphere due to the presence of hydrangea flowers in the early summer.
