Truckee Rafting - Tahoe California
In this episode of Cheap Family Travel ( Nick, Regan,Maggie and Kate spend a relaxing day rafting the Truckee River in Tahoe California. The Truckee River flows out of Lake Tahoe at a nice leisurely pace and is the perfect family adventure on a hot day. several rafting companies rent rafts and equipment in Tahoe City but you can also float the river on your own. The scenery is beautiful and the river is clear and refreshing. It's perfect for swimming and a picnic. You can bring your own coolers or the family dog. We saw ducks, geese, fish and a black bear swam right in front of us. It was incredible. The five mile trip ends at the River Ranch Resort where you can catch a bus or taxi back to Tahoe City. Rafting the Truckee is a must for every family who visits Lake Tahoe.

The Ayala's Vacation at Lake Tahoe
Wash dat shi in 1080p plz
Here is one of the rare videos I post every handful of months. Hopefully this poops tons on my last trash video.
Locations in video:
*South Lake Tahoe, cabin near Pioneer and US-50
*Emerald Bay State Park, near pathway and parking lot, a lot of people hike all the way down to the castle, about a mile hike downhill
*Chimney Beach, a hard hike if you bring a lot of stuff and take the shorter way its more of a straight shot down, if not the hike is 2.4 miles and flat but will take a little longer; park at Secret Harbor parking lot, or along side the road and walk in
*Sand Harbor State Park- Parking is $10 regular and $20 for boat parking/loading, you MUST get here early, within 8-9 I would say in popular times or weekends, once it closes you have to shuttle, no walk ins and no dropping off boats/paddle boards, etc. Once they reach a specific capacity they won't reopen the gates until 3pm, a lot of the overflow goes into Chimney beach which also fills up early, without the hike Chimney beats sand harbor
*Stateline- a lot of shops leading up, local artists, local businesses
*Truckee River Rafting Co: even on chill days you can't call same day, to save some money I would call and schedule an appointment, you get a raft and it takes 2-3 hours, they shuttle you back in a school bus to the parking lot

Truckee River rafting
The Placer County Sheriff's Office would like to remind those heading up to raft on the Truckee River this weekend that alcohol beverages are not allowed.
Since 2008, Placer County has prohibited the possession of open alcohol containers during the Fourth of July weekend alongside the river from Lake Tahoe to Alpine Meadows. The ban was created in response to alcohol-related problems created by the many rafters who descend on the river over the holiday weekend.
County Code generally prohibits alcohol from designated beach areas, but does not restrict alcohol at Chambers Landing Beach.
Violations are punishable by a fine of $150 for the first, $500 for the second, and $1,000 for the third occurrence within a calendar year.
The ban will be actively enforced by uniformed foot- and bicycle patrols. Agencies assisting in the ban include Placer County Probation, U.S. Forest Service, ABC, State Parks, and the CHP.
Our goal is for everyone to have a safe Independence Day holiday weekend!

Hi everybody! I'm Philip Goodman from the Nevada Real Estate Group and Keller
Williams Group One in Reno Nevada and this is Living in Reno where we go
outside and enjoy all the wonderful things that Reno has to offer. Today I
just finished a two mile hike as part of the Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation and
I'm here with Claire Schmotzer who is a naturalist educator. Claire tell us what
your involvement is with the parks foundation. So as a nat uralist educator I
am on a one year AmeriCorps term of service. I started in September, I finish
in two weeks. And with the education programs we go into the schools and take
the kids on walking field trips to the park and do things--really fun stuff
like catch bugs, test soils. We do spring and summer camps. We have our Idyllwild
health walks for folks living with dementia in their family care partners,
and we do things like the Truckee Meadows Trails Challenge hike like what you
just went on. Our goal at the parks foundation is to get people outside and
enjoying everything that Reno has to offer.
On this warm Saturday afternoon more than 30 people followed Claire along the
Truckee River stopping to look at unique and native fauna. From this hike you can
also see where Hunter Creek washes into the Truckee. Our hike brought us to one
of Reno's first timber built barns. Jack Hursch co-lead the tour and explained in
fascinating detail about the construction of the barn and some of the
more notable residents of the property.
However the real star of the show was the great horned owl perched high up in
the rafters. The Truckee River behind us is--it's the lifeblood it is the main
artery of Reno. Claire what's the most important thing that people need to know
about the Truckee River? So the Truckee River is actually part of
a terminal watershed. That means it doesn't flow to the sea. Anything we put
in the river from where it starts at Tahoe flows all the way through Reno
through Sparks and ends up in Pyramid Lake.
So it's really important that we have awareness of the river, appreciation for
it and that we're good stewards and take care of it by keeping it clean and
healthy. Absolutely so if you bring it to the river bring it out of the
River if you see any trash please pick it up.
Don't leave your cigarette butts. Please don't bring glass to the river, cans
only if you are gonna enjoy a float down down the river. What else should people
know Claire? Please pick up after your dogs. The Parks Foundation sponsors the
Doggie Ambassador Program. So if you go around our parks you'll see the green
bag stations with the green or yellow bags. We have volunteers to keep those
full and occasionally we'll go out to more higher needs Park and we'll table it and
actually give you a dog bone with the a roll of bags.
Well it's been an absolutely beautiful day down here at the Truckee
River. You see everyone jumping in going for a float and having a wonderful time
and we invite you to do the same. For living in Reno, for Claire Schmotzer, I'm
Phillip Goodman. We'll see you next time!
