THSR Taichung Station (Chinese: 高鐵台中站; pinyin: Gāotiě Táizhōng Zhàn) is an elevated station of the Taiwan High Speed Rail located in Wuri District, Taichung City, Taiwan. Transfers can be made to Xinwuri Station on the TRA Western Line. It was the only operational high speed rail station in Central Taiwan before any additional stations become operational on December 1, 2015, making this station the most isolated of all THSR stations. The distance to the north to Hsinchu is 93 km, and south to Chiayi is 85 km.

We walked around the Taichung Station area today. Seeing it is a cultural heritage so we decided to check it out - it's nice and there were some tour groups arriving too, but that's pretty much it, we spent longer in the 7-11 next door than in the station itself.

Taipei Main Station can be extremely confusing to anyone including long time residents. I've tried to keep instructions on how to navigate the huge complex simple and if you follow the advice I give, mainly just using the signs above you for directions you shouldn't have too much difficulty getting around. I focused on the Taipei Main Station building where you'll find places to eat, shop, buy train tickets, the Airport MRT, the bus station located at the East Side of the main building, and the other MRT lines. If you are wanting to travel by bus to other parts of Taiwan including the Eastcoast, Central, and Southern Taiwan, then you'll need to go to Q Square where buses serve these regions of the island.

The Taichung Park (Chinese: 臺中公園; pinyin: Táizhōng gōngyuán) is the oldest park in Taichung, Taiwan. It was built when Taiwan was under Japanese rule and is also called “Chungshan Park” (中山公園; Sun Yat-sen park).
Taichung (Hokkien POJ: Tâi-tiong), officially known as Taichung City, is a special municipality located in center-western Taiwan. Taichung has a population of approximately 2.78 million people and has been officially ranked as Taiwan's second most populous city since July 2017. The current city was formed when Taichung County merged with the original provincial Taichung City to form the special municipality on 25 December 2010.
Located in the Taichung Basin in central Taiwan, the city became a major economic and cultural hub during Japanese rule. It serves as the core of the Taichung–Changhua metropolitan area, with Xitun District serving as its industrial and manufacturing base. The city is home to the National Museum of Natural Science and the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, as well as many cultural sites, including the historic Taichung Park, the Lin Family Gardens, and many temples.

Visiting YiZhong Street, which is almost like a night market setting, but during the day time - so much food, fun and snacks.
Taichung is famous for sun cakes and we visited a shop to try some out and buy some. Also went to visity Miyahara Sweets shop, a very cool looking store selling sweets and desserts that looks like a book store, or something out of a Harry Potter movie! There is also an ice cream shop that creates some amazing looking ice cream bowls.

台中鐵路高架化工程第一階段完工20161016通車！Yang帶領大家來觀看台中新大慶火車站跟已經成為歷史的台中舊大慶火車有什麼不一樣。
市府將透過鐵道文化博物館、「綠綠台中」雙軸計畫、台中大車站計畫等3項都市發展策略，發展向北軸線並串聯周圍文化資產，打造站前新風貌，市長林佳龍強調，要用宏觀的視野擘畫火車站周圍，為「文化城中城」與大台中市奠定下一個百年發展的基礎。
攸關台中重大發展的台中鐵路高架化工程，歷經多年第一階段通車後，後續還有第二階段工程將接續進行，市府以「文化城中城」定位舊市區，當中以綠空鐵道與綠川環境營造的「綠綠台中」雙軸計畫最為關鍵。
都發局也將發展綠空鐵道計畫，鐵路舊鐵道的駁坎轉化成為吸引人潮的設施，並透過綠川整體環境營造，帶狀串聯周圍的文化資產，同時結合舊台中火車站打造而成的「鐵道文化博物館」，不只將人潮帶回中區，也將腹地擴大，以新火車站為中心做點線面的整體發展。
市府都市發展局長王俊傑表示，「台中大車站計畫」針對新的台中火車站坐落在舊站的東北側100公尺，隨新站落成啟用，交通與人潮動線也將隨之北移，市府將結合現有的台鐵停車場、市有建國市場與國防部所管的南京新村土地，辦理都市更新進行整體開發，發展向北軸線串聯干城地區。
「要讓新車站乘載下個一百年的任務！」市長林佳龍強調，百年來市民的生活都受到火車站座標軸線影響，台中又是中台灣的中心城市，市府須宏觀的視野妥善規畫新車站周圍土地，也建議台鐵應將台中至彰化的鐵道，結合「鐵道文化博物館」，打造為鐵道文化走廊。
【台中車站歷史】
臺中車站座落於臺中舊市區（中區一帶），日治時期為橘町三丁目22番地，是臺中、彰化、南投等地的玄關口，轉乘運輸十分發達。惟隨臺中市近來市區西移的因素、舊市區逐漸沒落，致使鐵路運輸受到公路客運競爭，高鐵臺中站啟用後再次受到影響，但仍是中臺灣主要交通樞紐之一。
第一代車站
臺中車站於日治時期明治38年（1905年）設立，第一代「臺中停車場」是日式木造建築，首任站長為塚澤力太郎。明治41年（1908年）4月20日，臺灣縱貫鐵路全線通車，同年10月在臺中公園舉行通車典禮，日本皇室閑院宮載仁親王來臺參加，湖心亭即是當時為慶祝鐵道開通所建。
第二代車站[
明治44年（1911年）臺中進行市區改正都市計畫，形塑了今日站前街道輪廓，也因為都市的發展，舊站房逐漸不敷使用而進行重建。大正6年（1917年）3月31日，第二代「臺中驛」完工，由臺灣總督府交通局鐵道部工務課設計，車站主體為紅磚造，屋頂為洋式木構造，月台則為鑄鐵構造，與總督府（今總統府）同為「後期文藝復興風格」辰野式建築[2]。同年9月，車站外緣木造迴廊完工，基座、柱頭、及橫樑接頭均有裝飾，入口處亦有雙柱等變化。隨後在大正12年（1923年）4月皇太子裕仁（後為昭和天皇）抵臺中巡視，官員、民眾於車站列隊歡迎。昭和10年臺灣中部發生地震，站房嚴重受損，二次大戰時亦在空襲中受損。此外，昔日曾有臺糖鐵路中南線自後站行駛至南投，後來停駛。
由於客運量增加，二次大戰後1949年，車站右翼仿造原樣式、材質進行擴建，於隔年完工。1995年臺中車站站體與月台被內政部指定為二級古蹟（今列為國定古蹟），然而在1999年臺灣發生九二一大地震，車站再次面臨嚴重損傷，站體以鋼骨及鋼板作為安全補強。第二代臺中車站自1917年完工以來使用長達99餘年，隨著臺中鐵路高架捷運化工程於2016年通車啟用，原平面站房與月台正式走入歷史，將原地保存並結合周圍相關文化資產轉型為文化設施。

New Tile House Hakka Cultural District
The New Tile House Hakka Cultural District is neither new, nor a single house, but rather a cluster of single-story buildings made of bricks (some fired, some mud) and tiles. Not much happens here on weekdays, but visit on a weekend and you might see cultural groups presenting music or dance performances.

Old Hsinchu Prefectural Hall
Unlike similar official buildings in Tainan and Taichung, the Old Hsinchu Prefectural Hall continues to play a key role in local government, and is where the city’s mayor has his office.

Hsinchu City Fire Museum
The museum, inside a functioning fire station, contains bilingual displays that cover both the history of the local firefighting service and how best to survive a conflagration.

Shi Family Fish Balls
Located southwest of Hsinchu Railway Station, this restaurant has been praised by hundreds of netizens. It's an old-school eatery: There’s no English sign or menu, and not one dollar has been wasted on fancying up the décor.

Zhulian Temple
This hall of worship is at the Buddhist end of the theological spectrum, but you’ll also see traditional folk practices. One is the casting of pairs of crescent-shaped wood blocks known to Taiwanese-speakers as poe.

Qiding Station
There's no staff at this station, nor vending machines from which you can buy tickets. Hsinchu to Qiding is NT$21.
Landscape Platform
It takes just a few minutes to get from the station to the platform. Gazing out over the Taiwan Strait, as the wind turbines that dot this stretch of coast slowly rotated and the occasional express train rumbled past, was a soothing experience.
Zimu Tunnel
When this railway line was double-tracked in the early 1970s, it was moved slightly closer to the sea because the tunnels (there are actually two) were too narrow. Exemplars of the solid infrastructure built during the 1895-1945 Japanese colonial period, they're now preserved as part of a walkway/bike trail. The first tunnel is 67m long, the second nearly double that. No flashlights are needed; there's enough natural light for you to see where you're walking.
Xiangshan Station
The lovingly maintained station building in Xiangshan is an attraction in its own right. Dating from 1928, it’s the only remaining Japanese-era railway stop in Taiwan that was built using cypress from the Alishan area in the central mountains.
Xiangshan Tianhou Temple
The current building dates from the 1920s, but there’s been a shrine on this site since sometime in the late 17th century, when Han Chinese from Fujian (the mainland China province closest to Taiwan) began to settle on the coast here. Like the majority of Taiwan’s folk shrines, this temple houses effigies of several deities, but the principal object of veneration is Mazu, the Goddess of the Sea.
