last day of our Taiwan trip and also last day of 2018!
we braved the rain and the crowd to find the best spot to see the Taipei 101 fireworks.
climbed up xiang shan to try and get a better view but all we saw were umbrellas.
in the end we found a spot near taipei 101 and caught the fireworks...
the fireworks were really something but also the journey back home was even more something

The Taipei 101 formerly known as the Taipei World Financial Center, is a supertall skyscraper designed by C.Y. Lee & Partners in Xinyi, Taipei, Taiwan. This building was officially classified as the world's tallest from its opening in 2004 until the 2010 completion of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This year it was amazing too!

Taiwan VLOG 5: Taipei 101 FIREWORKS | Elephant Mountain Hiking!
Final day in Taipei. To celebrate this wonderful trip, Tram and I wanted to see the most scenic views of Taipei. First, we climbed Elephant Mountain Hiking Trail to see the wonderful scenic view of the city. We then walked around Taipei 101 and was hoping to go to the observation deck but our adventure was crushed when we saw the hundreds and hundreds of people also waiting to go up as well. So we instead walked around the building and the mall and met up with our friends, Sean and Genisee, who flew into Taiwan for the New Year.
What an incredible sight and experience to see Taipei 101 for the New Year!
Additional Information:
Elephant Mountain Hiking Trail - Exit the Xiangshan Subway on the Tamsui-Xinyi Line. Walk South. Zhongqiang Park will be to your left. When you see Nola Kitchen, make a Left. Make a right before the dead end. On the Trail, my suggestion is to stay on the Left. If you choose the right trail, you will end up climbing a lot of stairs. Enjoy the view!
Taipei 101 - Opened in 2004, Taipei 101 is 101 stories high. Although Tram and I didn't go to the observation deck because it was insane. If you choose to go, the price is 20.00 per adult and children are free.

Taipei 101 Fireworks Display | New Year's Party 2020
Taiwan's tallest skyscraper, the Taipei 101 tower, rang in the New Year with its annual fireworks display on Wednesday, Thousands of people gathered on the streets near the building which is among the world's 10 tallest buildings.
As per tradition dating from 2004-5, the spectacular display was launched from Taipei's iconic 509-metre-tall.
The display lasted five minutes and included 16,000 fireworks, according to Taipei 101's website.
