PV Taiwan 2015 in Taipei World Trade Center-Nangang Exhibition Center in Taipei, Taiwan
This is an overview of PV Taiwan 2015 in Taipei World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Center in Taipei, Taiwan, recorded on October 14, 2015. It's a composite of photos and videos photoed/video-recorded, and uploaded by sunisthefuture-Susan Sun Nunamaker and rendered by Michael Nunamaker.
The event organizer was very astute in combining PV Taiwan-TIGIS-Laser Taiwan 2015 into one conference/exhibition event because there is much cross-over among these three industries. 2015 PV (Photovoltaics) Taiwan & 2015 TIGIS (Taiwan International Green Industry Show) open concurrently for the first time at Taipei World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Hall, creating the most comprehensive and complete platform for Green Energy Industry in Taiwan. The event lasted between Oct. 14-16, 2015.
As we got close to the exhibition center on Oct. 14, 2015, we realized that there would be some serious VIP attending this event because the building was surrounded by security guards. As it turned out, the VIP is the President of Taiwan, Ma Ying-jeou. Not only did President Ma give an encouraging opening address, he also took a quick tour of the exhibit with his entourage, caught in this video above (at 4:53 mark of the video). It is clear that President Ma appreciates the relevance of solar/renewable industry at this juncture of human history. He understands that we all need to get into the clean, renewable, and solar energy. His attendance was truly a morale boost for all of those in solar industry and in attendance.
This is a very well organized event where media/press are treated well. The main difference between PV Taiwan and SPI or Intersolar is that PV Taiwan has greater emphasis in manufacturing components (such as material and equipments) whereas SPI or Intersolar tends to emphasize more on finished product. It is apparent that a lot of Taiwanese or Chinese solar businesses are in collaboration with other European companies (such as German companies). I believe Taiwanese business people, as a group, is extremely versatile and collaborative. They also understand the importance of education and research for solar industry's future. It is an event worth attending for solar businesses that want to connect with others from different parts of the world.
Taipei, Taiwan, has presented itself as a world class city, where order, cleanliness, and smart planning and designs may be found every where. Taiwan is truly a beautiful place, a wonderful island where services are the tops, best (cleanest and easiest to navigate) mass transport (MRT), and people are extremely friendly! Taipei, Taiwan, is a city where one doesn't need to speak/know Chinese/Mandarin and still be able to get around the city because all signs and metro announcements are in both English and Chinese. It is truly an international city.

Established in 1912, Ruei Cheng bookstore is the oldest bookstore in Taiwan. It has witnessed the political and economic transformation of Taiwan over the past 10 decades. Starting from scratch, and in business from the Japanese era until now, Ruei Cheng has operated for nearly a century with the mission of preserving culture.

VLOG | Taipei Taiwan | Beitou, Hotspring, Din Tai Fung, St. Christopher's Church | Day 3
On our third day in Taipei, Taiwan, we went to so many places.
First, we went to Beitou where we visited the Beitou Public Library - this place was divine! I wish I had my laptop/book. It's the perfect place to chill!
After that, we went to the Open Air Hot Spring but I was hesitant since it was a public bath and I'm not really comfortable. That's why we decided to go to Atami Hotel - we paid 600NTD for 1 hr, good for 2 people for a private bath.
We had our late lunch at Sushi Express near Beitou Park since we were really hungry and we just wanted to eat something ASAP. It was one of our fancier meals. LOL. Most of the food we ate were bought on the streets. HAHAHA
After which, we went to the Nangnang Exhibition area. We stayed in this area because we did not want to be late for the 6pm mass at St. Christopher's Church. We spent our time walking around the area and visiting Taipei Fine Arts museum.
When we were inside Taipei Fine Arts museum, I felt really tired and quite uninterested so I told Jed to just leave me at the canteen and go around the area since he really wanted to.
Around 4:45, we started walking towards St. Christopher's Church to hear the 6pm Simbang Gabi Mass. Simbang Gabi - is a Filipino tradition where you attend 9 days of masses; Novena masses.
After hearing mass, we hopped on a bus to go to SOGO where we found Din Tai Fung. Generally, Din Tai Fung in Taiwan has the same quality and price in Manila.
Our last stop was Shilin Public Market. Since it was our last day in Taiwan, we spent most of what's left of our NTD's to buy Pasalubong or gifts for our family and friends.
Taiwan was really amazing! Can't wait to go back in March 2017!!! :D

TAIPEI, TAIWAN VLOG: Moomin Exhibit
Helloooo~ Today's video is a short but sweet one :)
Moomin has been a recent obsession of mine. I have to admit, my brother was the first to fall in love. He first saw it during our trip to Japan last summer and decided to pick up his own plush doll of Moomin. Ever since then, we couldn't stop noticing him everywhere we went! Fast forward to this day, I am hooked! So this exhibit was perfect. I was I could go visit Moominland one day in Finland~

More about Taipei:
Taipei, Taiwan is a super modern city with a deep-rooted culture that is becoming more and more popular as a gateway to East Asia and Southeast Asia.
It’s new express MRT service from Taoyuan International Airport, a 36 minute ride, will make it even more convenient for travellers, especially those on a short layover.
This short but important list of essential things you should know will help keep you on track with a smooth stay.
Although taxis are plentiful and relatively inexpensive compared with other big cities in East Asia the MRT is one of the best ways to get to most of the main sites and business centers of Taipei City.
The Nangang Exhibition Center where many conventions and shows are held is accessible by the blue and brown MRT lines. Neihou, where many tech industry businesses have their head office is also on the brown line, Xihu is one of the most convenient stops for quick and easy access.
Taipei 101 for the last 3.5 years has had it’s own MRT stop on the red line. This is where you’ll also find The International Convention Center next to the Taipei 101 Shopping Mall. It’s also in close proximity to Taipei City Hall and is apart of the Xinyi Shopping District, where you’ll find one of the largest selections of luxury goods stores in East Asia.
If you want to get more of a local perspective pick up an Easycard available at most MRT stations and register it online with Ubike, so you can have access to the city bikes that have stations across Taipei City and New Taipei City. Simply swipe your card next to the bike you want to rent and you’re ready to go. You can drop the bike off at any Ubike station. They’re almost always located near an MRT station.
In the video I mention briefly that the Taiwanese people are very friendly and helpful. It’s true! If you ever appear to be lost or confused while looking at a map you will in most cases immediately attract the attention of a local who will be pleased to help you find your way. That’s wny I said “get lost”, literally you can get lost while exploring this amazing city with it’s maze of alleyways, quiet cafes, food stalls and shops and not worry that you won’t have help getting back to your hotel.
Taipei and the rest of Taiwan is an extremely safe place to travel. There is literally no or very rare violent crime against tourists. Personal ownership of guns is banned. There has been reports of pick pocketing and petty theft, particularly in night markets and crowded places, but I think this is even rare now.

Taiwan Travel Vlog Part 2: Exploring Taipei Taiwan
TAIWAN VLOG: Our first day in Taiwan wasn’t packed, given that the only items in our Taiwan Budget Trip Itinerary for Day 1 is only Gudetama and Taipei 101. The rest of time was spent on exploring Taipei and getting ourselves familiar with Ximen, and even though there wasn’t much in our itinerary, it was a fun and eventful first day nonetheless.
For our first day, click here: TAIWAN TRAVEL BLOG PART 1
blog:
vlog:
Taiwan Travel Day 2 was dedicated to food, knowing that one of the best things about Taiwan is their local cuisine. Gudetama was already crossed-of our list since we already visited it the day before, so the items in our Taiwan travel itinerary for the day are the following:
Din Tai Fung
A Taiwan food trip would not be complete without a visit to Din Tai Fung. If I’m not mistaken, the Din Tai Fung in Taipei is the original Din Tai Fung restaurant (the one located at Xinyi Road), so somehow the place has also become a tourist destination already. The line gets really long on peak hours, so the best strategy would be to get a number first, and ask how long the waiting time is. While waiting, you can explore the shops and restaurants in the area to kill time.
Needless to say, the Xiao Long Bao is a must-try. The Pork Chop Fried Rice and Braised Beef Noodle Soup are also pretty good. The most unforgettable for me though, is the Chocolate Xiao Long Bao.
The staff at the XInyi Road, Taipei branch of Din Tai Fung are also incredibly nice and polite. I’d give them five star for their customer service.
TKK Fried Chicken
TKK Fried Chicken in Taiwan is one of the places we went to while waiting for our turn at Din Tai Fung. It’s a good place to hang while waiting, since it’s only a short walk from Din Tai Fung (it’s also along Xinyi Road), and the second floor is also not crowded. There are even books that you can read while having your email.
The most basic order is made up of chicken and fries. But even this is already very flavorful already! If we weren’t planning to have a late lunch at Din Tai Fun, I would have ordered more of the chicken.
Thanh Ky
Thanh Ky is conveniently located at Yongkang Street, just a short distance from TKK Fried Chicken and Din Tai Fung. They serve scallion pancakes, which are apparently one of the must-try street food in Taiwan.
Right across the street is Smoothie House and King Mango, so you won’t have to go far for some good dessert. Other than the food itself, it’s also entertaining to watch the Thanh Ky vendors prepare the pancakes, son be sure to drop by for a quick look.
Hello My Name Is Paul Smith Touring Exhibition at Creative Park, Taiwan
After having our lunch at Din Tai Fung, we took a break from our food trip and went to the Taipei Creative Park to visit the Hello My Name Paul Smith Touring Exhibition. Paul Smith is an English fashion designer known all over the world. The exhibit in Taiwan features some of his design inspirations, and “offers a unique insight into the magnificent mind of Paul Smith”.
At the Paul Smith Exhibit, you’ll see outfits, framed works, and even a wall covered with 70,000 buttons. There are also some merchandise for sale, although they are a bit pricey, especially the clothes.
Mala Hot Pot Taipei, Taiwan
Mala Hot Pot has got to be the best hot pot in Taipei. No kidding, the food is really good, I’m thinking this could be the best hot pot I’ve had so far. What’s even better is that there’s unlimited beer, soda, and even Häagen Dazs ice cream! Mala Hot Pot in Taiwan is the perfect ender for the day!
Be sure though that you make a reservation ahead of time, since the place quickly gets fully booked. We tried making a 7pm reservation hours before, but it was fully booked until later that evening, so the only slot we got was at 10pm. Trust me though, it’s going to be worth the wait.
That sums up Day 2 of our Taiwan Budget Trip Itinerary. Be sure to check out in Youtube our Taiwan Travel Vlog Exploring Taipei, to give you a better idea of how are day went.

Ximending District Saturday in Taipei 10/1/2011MVI_2789.MOV
Small boutique stalls all around, lots of local food and drinks to try, place is very lively and colorful at night. This is a place to bring your teenage children for some shopping, eating, strolling and simply watching the locals do their owns things. Ximending is similar to some local spots in Japan, Korea and China where the place has kept its old, historical and cultural look, devoid of modern malls, tall buildings and western eateries. Yet despite the old appearance, it becomes a place to shop modern and high tech gadgets, accessories, fancy clothes, etc when the stalls open at night and roads are closed to vehicles. This is a good place to stay in Taipei .. very accessible to public transportation so you can visit other places in the daytime and just stroll around near the hotel at nighttime. Definitely worth coming back
