Bitan (碧潭), Xindian, Taipei County, Taiwan, 06/08/2010
Bitan (碧潭), historically called Shi-Bitan(石碧潭), is a tourist spot in Xindian, Taipei County, Republic of China (Taiwan). Bitan literally means Green Lake, referring to where the Xindian River widens to form the lake. There is a well-known suspension bridge that is used only by pedestrians. The bridge can be seen on the crest of Xindian. There are many restaurants, carnival activities, and pedal boats in the area.
Bitan can easily be reached via Taipei's MRT system. The lake is walking distance southwest of the Xindian Station (south terminal station of the green line).
Baishihu Suspension Bridge, Bishan Temple, & Senior Meetup (✈️Travel ????????Taiwan Series Day 3)
Day 3 of the ✈️ Travel ???????? Taiwan Series. Be part of the journey:
(Timestamps are below.)
00:36 As yesterday, I went to the egg sandwhich breakfast shop, which is located near 周古早味早餐 and the address is: 號, No. 1, Lane 31, Section 1, Da'an Rd, Da’an District, Taipei City, Taiwan 106
1:43 Met with Kirk and Jane on the MRT towards Neihu. They were also going to Neihu towards the Baishihu Suspension Bridge and we decided to go together. Except, that I had to fill my EasyCard and run to make sure I found them again. That was fun.
3:40 Before stopping off at the Baishihu Susepension Brdige (白石湖吊橋), I asked Kirk and Jane where they were going. They said further up, as they were going to a senior meetup. They said I can go with them if I liked, so I said yes and it was amazing.
05:35 The food I had there was probably the best that I had throughout Taiwan. One of the best, I should say. Because it was all home cooked food. They were all cooking the food and it just had a home taste to the food, as odd as that may sound.
08:15 Saying goodbye to Kirk and Jane. Then expliorng the Baishihu Suspension Brdige (白石湖吊橋). That was an amazing sight. A bit scary, as it was my first time on a Suspension Brdige. Second time, techniqually. First time as about a year ago, in Taipei, on the Baishihu Suspension Bridge. lol. The location is: Bishan Rd, Neihu District, Taipei City, Taiwan 114
10:40 After, I took a visit to Bishan Temple (碧山巖), which is literally next to the Suspension Bridge. It's a Taoist temple and has an extremely traditional feel to it. On the outside, it looks like a regular temple. But on the inside, it's one of the best looking temples I've ever seen. The architeuter is just flawless and the traditional atmosphere is felt. It's also one of the best views of Taipei and can hold its own against Elephant Mountain and the view of the city that you see from there.

Guanyinshan (觀音山) & Bali (八里), Wugu, Taiwan, 03/13/2011
Guanyinshan is on the west bank of the Danshui River, with the main mountain chain between Wugu and Bali Districts in New Taipei City. It is a young extinct cone-shaped volcano, part of the Datun mountain group. Its north slope is mainly lava while the south is mainly debris flow deposit. Viewed from Danshui and Guandu areas, the mountain looks like Guanyin Buddha lying on her back, hence the name.
Guanyinshan is the home of many species of raptor and is also visited by many migratory birds of prey.
KMT presidential candidate Eric Chu canvasses for union votes, DPP’s Tsai Ing-wen visits Xindian
With presidential elections less than a month away, KMT presidential candidate Eric Chu and Legislative Speaker Wang Jin-pyng canvassed votes at a general assembly of an engineering contractors union. Meanwhile, DPP presidential candidate Tsai Ing-wen campaigned in New Taipei City’s Xindian. Flanked by Wang, Chu today attended the general assembly of the Taiwan Region Engineering Contractors Association. Regarding the upcoming debates, an issue of concern for both political parties, Chu made the following comment.Eric ChuKMT Presidential CandidateWe think it’s best if everyone coordinates with each other. If candidates are willing to debate, then it’s good. I don’t want to say much more about this because if I say even two sentences more, Tsai may refuse to debate us.Chu called on the candidates to coordinate with each other, but his opponent Tsai Ing-wen when visiting Taiping Temple in Xindian had the following to say about the debate.Tsai Ing-wenDPP Presidential CandidateGenerally for us weekends are the most important times for campaigning. Despite this being difficult for us, we will try to find time. If Chairman Chu and Chairman Soong can coordinate with us, organizers can start making preparations.Currently, presidential debates are set for Dec. 27 and Jan. 2, while the vice presidential debate will be held on Dec. 26. They will be all held in the afternoon, starting at 2pm.
Neidong (內洞) Forest Park in Taiwan
Trip to the scenic Neidong (內洞) National Forest Recreation Area in Taipei County, Taiwan on Feb. 7, 2011.
Neidong Forest Park (also known as Wawagu) was established in 1984 and is located in Wulai district (烏來區) of Taipei County. The magnificent mountainous scenery and canyons of the park are connected with Wulai (Ulay, 烏來) and has the best conserved ecology in northern Taiwan.
The Nanshi and Neidong rivers that run across the park form many waterfalls. Among them, the most famous is the 3-level Xinxian Waterfall that presents a grand spectacle. There are many camping and barbeque sites near the waterfall. With its flora and fauna well conserved, visitors can enjoy the dense forests, the birds and butterflies in a serene environment.

WuLai (烏來鄉) , Taipei Taiwan 07/04/2010 - Part 2
Wulai (烏來) is a small town in Taipei County, Taiwan, famous for its hot springs and aboriginal culture. The name of the town derives from the Atayal phrase kirofu ulai meaning hot and poisonous. Don't let this scare you away from this lovely town! Consider going during the week if you can as it is quite crowded on the weekend. Also, in the summer, it might be a few degrees cooler than Taipei, but the elevation is not sufficient to provide real cooling.

Sun Moon Lake (日月潭), NanTou, Taiwan, 12/19/2010
Sun Moon Lake is the largest body of water in Taiwan as well as a tourist attraction. Situated in Yuchih, Nantou, the area around the Sun Moon Lake is home to the Thao tribe, one of aboriginal tribes in Taiwan. Sun Moon Lake surrounds a tiny island called Lalu. The east side of the lake resembles a sun while the west side resembles a moon, hence the name.

Zhushan Zinangong & Jiji weir (紫南宮 & 集集攔河堰), Nantou,Taiwan, 7/3/2013
Zinangong (紫南宮) is a famous temple for lending money to its believers for up to NT$600. After one year, believers are supposed to come back to return the borrowed money (believers often return with interest as extra thanks to the Land god). The max. NT$600 may be saved or used to purchase something relating to your trade as either of these two actions are supposed to help facilitate the lucky flow of wealth around you.
Everyone wants to touch the Golden Chicken which is outside of temple. You may as well go to Taiwan's one and only 7-stars bathroom architecturally designed to resemble Bamboo shoots.
Jiji weir has become the water resources management center of Zhuoshui River. Its purpose is stabilizing irrigational water resources, allocating water resources effectively and providing industrial water for Yunlin Off-Shore basic industrial district.
