I went to Shibamata Taishakuten temple with my family. The temple is famous for the serial movie Otoko wa Tsuraiyo or It's tough being a man.
The main character, Tora-san lives near the Taishakuten temple in the movies.
Most of the movies have the same basic plot.
A traveling salesman Tora-san arrives in some remote town planning to sell his wares to the locals. He meets a local woman and falls in love with her. However, he usually ends up inadvertently helping bring her together with another man. He ends up being heartbroken at the end of the movie.
I like the movies and watched them many times, but had never been Taishakuten temple before. We visited Tora-san museum, sweets shop Toraya and Taishakuten temple.
Its a really wonderful town.
Tora-san fans should visit the town.

► These are some of my impressions, walking through Taishakuten Sando street in the early afternoon the other day.
The street is located in Shibamata, one of Tokyo's older neighbourhoods. It's full of little shops selling all kinds of traditional (and less traditional) snackfoods, such as sembei
and mochi, but also pickled grasshoppers and firefly squids (!)
On top of that, there's a fair selection of restaurants, most
of them offering freshly made Tempura and Soba noodles.
It's a great place to experience the atmosphere of bygone days, and yet another great example of a Tokyo, where old traditions exists alongside modern, high-tech urban life. - Enjoy!

► Shibamata Taishakuten is a Buddhist temple in eastern Tokyo that was founded in 1629. I visited this temple for the first time today, and it instantly became a new favorite place of mine. Offering not just a well kept temple, but also a gorgeous little garden in which you can walk around on a woodden bridge, zig-zagging its way through the garden. (and this is pretty convenient, as you are asked to leave your shoes outside before entering the temple grounds.) Last, but not least, there is a small museum attached to the place, where you can see the most amazingly detailed woodcarvings of old Japanese landscape and symbols. - Enjoy!

Shibamata Taishakuten, once you get inside the main compound is a really beautiful temple. Covered in amazing woodcarvings it one of the most underrated temples in the city. There is also a very nice, small Japanese garden behind it. And on top of that it isn't that far from Tokyo Skytree either.

柴又（しばまた）は、東京都葛飾区の地名。現行行政町名で柴又一丁目から柴又七丁目までが設置されている。2011年4月1日現在の人口は23,255人[3]。郵便番号は125-0052（葛飾新宿郵便局管区）。古くから題経寺（柴又帝釈天）の門前町として知られていたが、映画『男はつらいよ』の舞台となったことでさらに広く認知されるようになった。江戸川の西岸に位置し、対岸の千葉県松戸市・矢切地区とを結ぶ渡し船「矢切の渡し」の渡し場がある。概ね住宅地からなり、北には金町が隣接し、北東に金町浄水場が立地する。東は江戸川の対岸に千葉県の下矢切が、南に鎌倉が、西に高砂と新宿がある。帝釈天界隈は、環境省の「日本の音風景100選」に選定されている。
