Zenkoji Temple or Shanguang Temple in Beitou, Taiwan | பைட்டூ, தைவான்
My original plan was to visit Puji Temple, but the fate had different plan for me. I lost my way to Puji Temple as it was little way off the trail which is difficult to notice.
As I lost my way, I further walked, hiked hoping that I would find the Puji Temple before I realized that I was too far from Puji Temple. Nevertheless, I decided to hike further to see what's there. I wasn't disappointed as I found a GEM called Zenkoji Temple amid the forest of Beitou, Taiwan. It was a temple for the ashes of the deceased.
The Shantou Shanguang Temple, the full name of the Zhenguang Temple of Taipei City, is the temple of the Pure Land School of Xishan, and is the belief center of Japanese immigrants at that time. The Buddha stupa in the temple is very famous, and it is dedicated to Sakyamuni Buddha relics who were invited by Japan.

地熱谷 Beitou Thermal Valley Taipei Taiwan
Beitou Thermal Valley or Geothermal Valley(地熱谷) is a volcanic crater filled with steaming natural sulfuric hot spring water. During the Japanese colonial era, the valley was known as one of Taiwan’s eight great natural beauties and the magical translucent green coloured waters gave rise to one of its pet names, Jade Springs Valley. The mineral composition of the rare green sulfur spring waters can only be found in two locations in the world, here in Beitou and in Akita, Japan.
How to go there?
From taipei main station Take the Red Line 2 to Beitou (北投), then change to the Xinbeitou branch (新北投). After arriving at Xinbeitou, walk straight out of the station and along Zhongshan Road (中山路). After reaching the Hi-Life convenience store, take a left onto the lane to reach Thermal Valley.

TAIWAN V.2: December 24, 2016
Day 2 was spent traveling to Kaohsiung, visiting the Carton King store, and checking into our Airbnb. We then walk to the Lotus Pond where Kelly sees a puppy.
We eat a few delicious morsels from a local bakery, and then explore the different pagodas along the waterfront.
From the Lotus Pond we trek to Fo Guang Shan where we marvel at the giant Buddha statue, and then we hit the Liouhe Night Market for Cheesy Stuffed Clams, Sugar Cane Juice, Fresh Prawns, and then a few Spicy Mushroom Straws.
The night ends in our Airbnb as we recap the day & our various travels.
Be sure to stay tuned until the end for a special performance by one of Kaohsiung's up and coming singing sensations.
Thanks for watching!

Temple near Songshan in Taipei, Taiwan
A beautiful temple in Songshan right next to the Raohe night market in Taipei. I've never been one to enjoy eastern religion or temples very much, but this place was particularly breathtaking.

EP13 Seeing Taiwan: Shing Hwa Tea Shop, Chiang Kai-shek Memorial, Thermal Valley, Lungshan Temple
When I take out the eating clips I can't believe I manage to fit 5 days of sightseeing into a 9 minute video!
Taipei is definitely more fast paced than Kaohsiung and Tainan in the south. Maybe it's because we were going to tourist places but most of the people we encountered were not from Taiwan and many of the people were not as friendly. The cost of things in Taipei is also slightly higher than the south and everywhere we went was much busier.
The highlight was definitely the 興華名茶 Shing Hwa Tea Shop. The owner took so much time to explain how their teas are grown and the difference between high elevation and low elevation teas.
He explained what is used to grow the tea to make it organic and the differences between a small tea garden and a commercial business tea garden. We learnt so much about how to brew tea and the difference slow grown plants make to the flavour, method and effect of the resulting tea. He made us several teas so we could try tea from different elevations and different plants e.g. oolong, tie guan yin and showed us the traditional tea ceremony. There was no pressure to make a purchase and he was so passionate about his product.

Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum (佛光山佛陀紀念館) | (Thousand Buddha Temple)
Fo Guang Shan is an international Chinese Buddhistmonastic order based in Taiwan that practices humanistic buddhism. The headquarters of Fo Guang Shan, located in Dashu District, Kaohsiung, is the largest Buddhist monastery in Taiwan. The organization is also one of the largest charity organizations in Taiwan. The organization's counterpart for laypeople is known as the Buddha's Light International Association.
Fo Guang Shan Temple is the best known Buddhist center in southern Taiwan and is the largest Buddhist monastery in Taiwan. The design of the Buddha Memorial Center is inspired by both an Indian stupa and the Mahabodhi Temple inside the Bodhgaya religious site in India. Above it sits the world’s tallest bronze sitting Buddha statue. In front of the statue is the Way to Buddhahood path flanked by Eight Pagodas on either side, making it perhaps the most magnificent Buddhist landmark in southern Taiwan. The Buddha Memorial Center has in its possession a relic which is said to be Buddha’s tooth —one of only three in the entire world—as well as many Buddhist artifacts donated by various countries. The art gallery displays an array of historical and cultural treasures, including poety, calligraphy, religious instruments, and antiques. It is one of the biggest Buddhist art treasuries in the world.
The Buddha Museum (formerly Buddha Memorial Center) was constructed with the intention of the construction commenced in 2001 enshrining the Buddha's relic and lasted for ten years. It was officially opened on the 25th December 2011.

TAIWAN VLOG: Day 1 (Part 1) | Ximending, Taipei 101
It's our first time in Taiwan! Yay!
-----
We arrived in Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport at around 12:10 AM and took the Kuo Kuang Bus 1819 (125 NTD) to Taipei Main Station. MRT is closed that time so we had to take the bus. After arriving in Taipei Main Station, we took a taxi going to our hotel which is located in Ximending and the ride was only about 10-15 mins, we paid 130 NTD.
In the morning, we just had our breakfast at Mcdonald's and explore Ximending. Most of the stores that time were closed, there are also street foods around to eat for breakfast! Yummy!
Ximending to Taipei 101:
From MRT Ximen Station (Bannan Line/Blue Line) to Taipei Main Station and transferred to the Red Line to Taipei 101/World Trade Center Station (Tamsui-Xinyi Line)
Taipei 101:
If you want to see the best view in Taipei, you have to check the Taipei 101 Observatory Deck which is located at the 89F of Taipei 101. There is an entrance fee that costs 600 NTD each. A bit pricey but it's definitely worth it!

Old old temples in Taipei City are located around. This is gotta built in 1738, the oldest pickled bitter rungsan in Taipei. Including the main hall Bodhisattva Fugen, Monju, including a Buddhist temple enshrining the ministries of Buddhism. Dwaetjiman clause destroyed several times by war or natural disaster Kannon Bosatsu here and did damage at all. So Buddha is known as one more miracle to Taipei people. Despite the rainy weather many people visited the place. Holding all the flavor without all ages will release their wishes and concerns. Inspectors listened to people here think that expectation come deep into their lives. I looked forward to this end a Taipei travel safely. Omgija to visit was sponsored by my side and is expected to unfold all the other sights. There were numerous deities enshrined'll also were enshrined deities of Taoism, including Confucius. So all the gods and Buddha touches to pray here together in one place so that there was any wish also goes miraculous. Stay up late even if you do not believe everything I heard this is where I think that is a lot of people rely on the heart of Taipei.
