Taiyuan BMH Summer Camp 2012 Week 3
Our third week here in Taiyuan, China. We had 20 kids come, 15 Chinese translators and 14 American volunteers. The kids were so sweet and had such a fun time. They especially liked swimming and even got to go to a water park! On Thursday night we had a talent show and we were amazed at our kids' singing and dancing skills. We were sad to see the kids go but are so glad that we all got to meet each other.

Taiyuan zoo sees white tiger birth peak in north China
A spike in the birth rate of white tiger cubs this year has seen Taiyuan Zoo in north China's Shanxi Province establish its own white tiger kindergarten to care for the young cubs. All the white tiger cubs in the zoo are raised by artificial feeding, because the first-time mothers that gave birth to the cubs don't have sufficient nursing experience. Therefore, the zoo has set up the kindergarten to look after the litter of cubs together. The white tiger is a pigmentation variant of the Bengal tiger. Wild white tigers have died out and most of the existing white tigers are bred and raised by people.

沈阳太原街商业步行街，位于辽宁省沈阳市和平区，毗邻沈阳站，是中国最著名商业街之一。东北最有影响力的时尚潮汇地，影响力辐射整个东北亚。进入新世纪以后，它是日本银座商业的规划模式改造而成。
公元1898年，沈阳火车站前沦为沙俄的租界区，“西四条街”这个名不见经传的小道便成为了如今闻名东北的太原街的前身。1919年，日本侵略者强制将满洲铁路附属地所有的街道都改用日本名称，“西四条街”也屈辱地被贯名为“春日町”。
1905年初，日俄战争，以日本国胜利告终，这是一场在第三国开战的战争，其目的就是为掠夺中国的东北。日本占领沈阳，改原俄“铁路附属地”（在今西塔一带）为“满铁附属地”。
1910年，“满铁”兴建“奉天驿”（即今沈阳站的雏形）。“奉天驿”建成后，“满铁”加速其“附属地”新市街计划。所谓新市街，是以“奉天驿”为中心，向东开辟三条干线，即今天的中华路、中山路、民主路，中华路与“奉天驿”垂直，其余两条斜向放射。站前有南北走向的大街，即今胜利大街，与胜利大街平等建有十几条街路，干线路有今南京街和和平大街。今太原街在沈阳站以东、南京街以西，是其中一条南北走向的商业街，原冠名”春日町”。
1919年以后分别定名为千代田通、浪速通和平安通，即今天的中华路、中山路、民主路，千代田通与“奉天驿”垂直，其余两条斜向放射。站前有南北走向的大街，宫岛町与若松町，即今胜利大街，与之平行建有十几条街路，干线路有春日町-青叶町，信浓町-雪见町(和平大街)。春日町(今太原北街)在站前以东、南京街以西，是其中一条南北走向的商业街。 解放后这条历经沧桑的百年老街才被正式称为“太原街”。
1981年后，太原街在改革开放的浪潮中，凭借其便捷的交通、悠久的商业历史逐渐发展成为了一条商贾云集、人流如织的商业街。
经过了近百年的历史沧桑，如今的“太原街商业区”主要指以中华路、太原街、中山路为主要框架，形成沈阳现代化气息浓厚的商业中心。
