Lord's Maeda Toshiie built the entering base in the Kanazawa castle in 1583.
And, it is a standing of a family that continued soon as a retainer at 11 generations with the history and a valuable cultural heritage.

Preserve Tsugaru Shamisen | Niya | TEDxSapporo
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. NIya plays Tsugaru Shamisen a traditional instrument of Japan. At this talk he shares the fascinating theories and calls for immediate action to preserve the instrument and community which is decreasing every day.
Niya plays Tsugaru Shamisen energetically to convey the attractions of Japanese traditional music to the people all over the world. Niya has performed not only in Hokkaido but also Tokyo, New York (Carnegie Hall), Taiwan (Dalongdong Baoan Temple), and the Republic of Turkey. He has continued to play on a regular basis in live houses and clubs and challenge the novel possibilities of Tsugaru Shamisen. He has done numerous collaborations with various genres: DJ, fashion show, brass bands and so on. He performed at “a nation 2013 in Shibuya AX” sponsored by Avex in 2013.
He began to learn the Tsugaru Shamisen at the age of 7 and became an apprentice of Toshihiko Sato, the third generation of best Tsugaru Shamisen player in Japan.
He won third place in the junior section and first place in the ensemble in section of “Tsugaru Shamisen National Convention 2008,” which was held in Hirosaki, and took second place in Class B in 2012, first place in Class A in 2013 in ” Tsugaru Shamisen Japan Championship,” which was held in Aomori.
He makes efforts to teach his apprentices in place of his late teacher. He is also involved in music education as a instructor for high school students in the Sapporo area from 2012 to tell the next generation the charm of Tsugaru Shamisen.
Niya Sasaki is an up-and-coming Tsugaru Shamisen player who represents Hokkaido. He is currently a third-year student majoring in Media and Arts at the department of Lifelong Learning System at Hokusho University.

Oyama is 160 km from Fukushima Nuclear power plant.
The monitor indicates 0.11 micro Sievert per hour in air at chest hight, 0.44 on mud at ground level.
I am afraid that children's lung may chatch the dust from this mud in dry and windy days.

Lechi Kurbanov is a Chechan Kyokushin karateka and kickboxer.
He finished in 5th position in the 8th World Tournament (IKO 1) 2003.
He also famous as a Kyokushin KO artist, due to his unpredictable, powerful strikes.
His special move is jodan mawashi tobi geri (round high jump kick) which often makes his opponent fall down.

We spent a couple of days in Matsumoto.
Although we are 174 kilometres from Tokyo when a typhoon hit Japan during September 2013, we still experienced the effects here in Matsumoto when the Metoba River rose quite substantially.
It is said that when the city was growing into a castle town during the Edo Period the river was part of the Matsumoto Castle moat.

Since ancient times, the Kagami-Mochi or “Mirror-Ricecake” in English, was prepared on the altar for the New Year’s celebration. In more recent times, the Samurai warriors presented the Mochi, the rice cake, in front of their traditional armor, while the women arranged a mirror, symbolizing their heart. That is why this rice cake is called Kagami-Mochi. The Mochi served by the Samurai was shaped more like a round flat cake rather than a double stacked bun like today.
Taking its roots in the Shogunate, it is strongly linked to Budo practice and celebrated in many dojos in Japan.

I grew up in the 1980s listening to shredding Rock and Neo classical Guitarists such as Tony MacAlpine and Vinnie Moore. I also drew influence from Steve Vai and Joe Satriani while additionally listening to Classical and Baroque music such as VIVADI and J.S. BACH. When I was a 14 year old teenager I went to see the GREAT Tsugaru Shamisen Master Takahashi CHIKUZAN in concert in 八戸市 Hachinohe city in AOMORI, Japan.
津軽三味線 Tsugaru Shamisen is a genre of traditional Japanese music which is based on improvistaion using the folk songs and melodies of Aomori 青森県 to create long and POWERFUL Shamisen shredding moments. LIONHEART of Shamisen。
I am influenced by Tsugaru Shamisen Masters and performers such as sho asano, the Yoshida Brothers as well as Hiromitsu AGATSUMA and SHINICHI KINOSHITA. I also really love hanawa chie はなわちえ Hanamas and the girls in Ki Ki as well as TENBI and Oyama Yutaka plus Reigen Fujii and ten ten Canada Aki Takahashi. I have played with taiko drum master Hidano Shuichi and with Masahiro Nitta and Kyle Abbott in Monsters of Shamisen which also includes Mike Penny whenever he is available and the incredible Reigen Fujii. In the mid 2000s I performed CRAZY Heavy Metal Shamisen concerts w/ GOD of Shamisen. Death Metal Shamisen fusion with funk and psychedelic Rock. Traditional Japan meets the stoner culture of Santa Cruz in CALIFORNIA. Mike Penny and I both performed in fishtank ensemble as well. Around 2006 the film Birth of CALIFORNIA Shamisen was released and last year I also played on the soundtrack of Kubo and the Two Strings. I offer Shamisen Lessons to the people of Misawa, JAPAN. but also teach people living in Towada, Hachinohe or even Aomori city. Northern Japan. 日本

Aya Takada (Artist, Director of Birdo Flugas)
Aya Takada was born in Shiogama, Miyagi and is a graduate of Emily Carr University of Art + Design in Vancouver, Canada. While in Vancouver, she contributed to the online magazine SHIFT as a local correspondent, reporting on young artists and art news in the area. She is a founder of Birdo Flugas, which was established to introduce works by North American artists to Japan and to build networks between North American and Japanese artists. Her gallery birdo space was opened in Shiogama in 2006. In order to bring art and the community together, she offers off-site workshops and events, providing opportunities for local artists to take more active roles in the society as well as for artists and the community to interact with each other. She strives not only to provide a place to exhibit art but also to give value to art itself and its existence.
