Mikoshi battle
The mikoshi battle at Iwamoto shrine in Echizen, Fukui. During this annual festival, the god of papermaking, Kawakamigozen, is paraded around town in her golden mikoshi to visit the local shrines. The locals at each shrine try to prevent her from leaving so that she will have to spend the year at their shrine, while her carriers fight to take her back to her home shrine in Otaki.
