In autumn when the sky is clear, fog can be seen early in the morning. The view is such that the castle can be seen surrounded by a sea of clouds, thus resembling a castle floating in the sky.

It was a nice experience visiting a rural area in Japan and seeing a beautiful view that we can't find from our laboratory window!

Kami memutuskan untuk mengunjungi floating castle Takeda Castle Ruins di Wadayama, prefektur Hyogo. Mengunjungi daerah pedesaan di Jepang nyatanya sangat menyenangkan! Rasanya menyegarkan bisa melihat pemandangan indah yang tidak bisa kami temukan dari jendela laboratorium.

Takeda Castle Ruins – Japan’s Breathtaking Castle in the Sky
If you’ve read the Harry Potter series, then you’re probably familiar with Durmstrang Institute – a perfectly hidden school in the mountains for dark witches and wizards. If this school were to exist in real life, I think I’ve found the perfect place for it – Japan’s Takeda Castle. This spectacular castle is located in Hyogo Prefecture in the Wadayamacho district of Asago. It was constructed centuries ago on the summit of a 1000 foot high mountain. Today, the ruins of the castle run a quarter of a mile long and over 300 foot wide.
Takeda Castle is special because of the breathtaking view it presents on autumn mornings (between sunrise and 8 am). That’s when a thick mist hangs over the sky because of a sharp drop in overnight temperatures. The effect created by the mist is truly breathtaking – like a castle in the sky, floating on clouds. The entire site is often referred to as Japan’s Machu Picchu, after the majestic mountain ruins of Peru. The castle, in all its beauty and ancient glory, attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists each year. The number of visitors began to grow after the site was featured in a 2012 Japanese film called ‘Anata e’.

「天空の城」と呼ばれてる竹田城 【パワースポット】Castle TAKEDA castle power spot of a Japanese hallucination
雲海に浮かぶ姿から、「天空の城」「日本のマチュピチュ」などとも形容され、人気の竹田城跡。今回は、幻想的な風景を楽しませてくれました。
立雲峡（りつうんきょう）から
竹田城から県道136号線を西へ約2kmに位置する「藤和峠」。
ドアツードアで見られる撮影ポイント。竹田城を西側から望むため、竹田城がシルエットとなる眺望が得られる。
雲海が出る時期は、9月下旬?4月上旬の早朝。時間は明け方から午前８時頃まで。
11月下旬?12月上旬がもっとも濃い雲海が出やすい時期。12月下旬から2月末までは雪が積もることがあるので危険度が増しますので注意してください
雲海が出る条件は朝来市のサイトに書かれている通り「よく晴れていること」「朝方と日中の気温の差が大きいこと」「風が弱いこと」がポイント。
その位置から明け方は朝日や朝焼けとセットに撮影もできる。

The stone walls of the ruins of Takeda Castle floated on a sea of clouds in Asago, Hyogo Prefecture, on the morning of Oct. 16, as if they were part of the floating island of Laputa. Feudal warlord Yamana Sozen built the castle on Mt. Kojo, which is 353 meters high. Called the “Japanese Machu Picchu” after the ancient Inca ruins in Peru, the remains of the castle are a designated national monument and have been increasingly popular lately. [Released on Oct. 16]
