TAKHTESHWAR RESIDENCY YUVA GROUP PRESENTS DHULETI MAHOTSAV 2019
The Kodiyar Mata temple, Bhavnagar
Khodiyar Maa is the Hindu goddess who appeared in the story of Mamaniya Gadhvi in about AD 700.
Mamaniya Gadhvi had a superb relationship with the then ruler - Maharaj Shilbhadra. The ruler's ministers envied this exceptional relationship and prepared a way to get rid of Mamaniya Gadhvi. They were not very successful at persuading the ruler, but they succeeded in persuading the ruler's wife (queen).
One day the doorkeepers did not let him go into the palace. Mamaniya asked for the reason. He was told that a childless man is not worthy of the king's presence. Mamaniya returned home and wanted to ask Lord Shiva for help. When Lord Shiva did not appear, he decided to give his life away as a final sacrifice. Just when he was about to make it, Lord Shiva appeared and took him to the Snake Kingdom - Nagaloka to see the King of Snakes - Naga-dev.
After hearing his story full of humiliation, the Nagdev's daughters decided to help too. When Mamaniya came home, with his wife he prepared, as advised by the Nagdev's daughters, eight cradles in expectation of a great event. One day eight snakes crawled into the house and Mamaniya had suddenly seven daughters and one son. One of the daughters was Khodiyar Maa. After showing many miraculous powers, people consider her to be a goddess and she has temples and shrines too. Her vehicle is the crocodile and she has many other names such as Khodal, Trishuldhari, Maavdi. Goddess is considered as a daughter of Charan (Ni Dikri). Her temples are found all over Gujarat, Rajashtan and Mumbai but main four are Matel Near Wankaner, Bhavnagar(Rajpara village), Galdhare and Tataniya. Temple at Matel is huge and sometime people see the crocodile while doing the puja for maa khodiyar. Crocodile comes from the river which is located in front of temple. Another popular temple of Mataji is at near Bhavnagar city at Rajpara village. There is lake near temple known as Tataniya Dharo and for the same reason goddess is also known as Tataniya dhara wali. Gujarati film 'Jai Khodiyar Maa' was once box office hit again with Garba CD of Hemant Chauhan with same title.

Palitana temples - Bhavnagar, Gujarat
Closer look at Samovsaran Mandir Palitana, Bhavnagar in Gujarat. One can see city shot and devotees are getting down the stairs of the temple. An old woman is being carried on palanquin by two young men........
Heritage Gujarat has some of the most aesthetic architecture to be found in West India, splendid natural scenery, as well as renowned heritage.
The Palitana temples of Jainism are located on Shatrunjaya by the city of Palitana in Bhavnagar district, Gujarat, India. The city of the same name, known previously as Padliptapur, has been nicknamed City of Temples. Along with Shikharji in the state of Jharkhand, the two sites are considered the holiest of all pilgrimage places by the Jain community. As the temple-city was built to be an abode for the divine, no one is allowed to stay overnight, including the priests. Every Jain believes that a visit to this group of temples is essential as a once in a life time chance to achieve nirvana or salvation.
This site on Shatrunjaya hill is considered sacred by Jains and have hundreds of temples. There are approximately 863 marble-carved temples on the hills. It is said that 23 tirthankaras (a human being who helps in achieving liberation and enlightenment), except Neminatha (a liberated soul which has destroyed all of its karma), sanctified the hill by their visits. The main temple is dedicated to Rishabha, the first tirthankara; it is the holiest shrine for the Svetambara Murtipujaka sect. Digambara Jain have only one temple here.

Bhavnagar : Journeys in India
Travel can be a tricky thing—sometimes you can underplay and find yourself stranded without a hotel or transportation or worse, in some peril. On the other hard, you can so over think it so much that there are oversized expectations that can never be realized, the actual trip seems like a consolation prize to the planning process or worse it takes the wonder and surprise out of the experience. Admittedly, I am of the latter. I want to plan 110% with one or better two back up plans. That probably comes from my tour background. But then there are times that wonderfully background. But then there are times that wonderfully unexpected smacks you in the face and you have a memory to last a lifetime—that is what happened over and over again in the Bhavnagar region of Gujurat. Magnificent temples built on a mountain, wildlife in untold numbers and the mining for a mineral we all use way too much each day. So join me in Bhavnagar—Land of Surprises.
Bhavnagar is located in the state of Gujarat located in the extreme northwestern part of India. Within Gujarat, the city is in the south. It is located 120 miles from the state capital of Gandhinagar.
Found in 1724 by Bhavsinhiji Goil—it was the capital of the principality of Bhavnagar that was only dissolved when it merged to form India in 1948. With a population near 1 million, it has always been an important trade city. Just 30 miles away is the world’s largest port making it a major distribution point.

Temple in the sea? Bhavnagar
At Koliyak, a village at the Bhavnagar district in the Gujarat state of India, people reach out to the Shiva temple about 1.5 kilometers into the sea. In this historic place, Pandavas, the heroic brothers worshipped the lingas that are symbolic of Lord Shiva after the fierce battle in which they killed their evil cousins as narrated in the epic Mahabharat.
Think of a temple in the weirdest of places. Under the sea. But then, the Hindus have built their temples over the hills and mountains, inside the caves, at the sea shore, near the water falls...where ever nature reveals itself in all its grandeur and pristine beauty. The temple I am talking about is Nishkalank Mahadev's temple (Nishkalank -- blemish-less or sinless; Mahadev -- Lord Shiva), and it is under water during high tides in the sea and emerges during low tides to reveal itself majestically, promising its devotees to wash away all sins. As it did for the Pandavas in the epic Mahabharata, when they wanted to atone for the sin of killing their brethren, even though they were all evil incarnated.
The temple is located in the Bhavnagar district of Gujarat state in India. From the beach along the Arabian Sea, you'd have to traverse 1.5 km into the interior. There are the five Shiva lingas that the five Pandava brothers worshipped, along with Shiva's vehicle Nandi, or the Bull. Many people come here to dissolve ashes of their departed kith and kin. The day after the New Moon day, the sea recedes to the maximum, and hundreds of people including children walk the distance and worship the idols. The New Moon day that comes in August and corresponds to the Hindu calendar month of Bhadra is of special importance, and people throng here in large numbers.
