Vending Machines in the Japanese mountains, a cyclist paradise!

Out on my own riding the Hills of Chichibu, north west of Tokyo, heading up to Takizawa dam for a pretty cool stretch of road. On the way I tried counting the number of vending machines I passed… there’s one or two :)

大滝村は、2000m級の秩父の峰々に抱かれた荒川源流の里。村の97%が山林です。天空の里とも言われる栃本集落、三峯山から眺める雲海、滝沢ダム・雷電廿六木橋のループ橋、栃本関所跡や古民家再生のゲストハウス、三峯神社を撮影しました。

大滝村はかつては埼玉県の一割近くを占める広大な村でした。2005年に合併し、現在は秩父市です。

OTAKI village, Japanese calm & beautiful place embraced by mountains above 2000m.
Here is Tochimoto settlement so-called village in the sky, cloud sea seen from Mt. Mitsuminesan, dynamic view from loop bridge of Takizawa dam & Raiden-todoroki-bashi bridge, historical streetscape of Tochimoto, Mitsumine shrine where is Japanese traditional holy place for 1900 years.

Otaki used to be the largest village in Saitama prefecture with area of 330km2. Otaki is a part of Chichibu city since merged into the city in 2005. Otaki village does not exist as independent municipality any more.

国道140号線 滝沢ダム→雁坂トンネルを抜けるまでの自動車車窓

国道140号線
滝沢ダム駐車場をスタートし、雁坂トンネル（全長6625m）を抜けるまでの自動車車窓です。
雁坂トンネルは有料道路ですが、2015年7月1日から同年11月30日まで期間限定で無料となっているため、料金上はノンストップで通過しています。
カメラを不安定な状態で設置していたため、一部シーンをカットしたり角度を補正しています。

The Kawase Shinko-sai Festival is held as the regular festival of Shinmei-sha Shrine. After a procession of Sarutahiko (Sarutahiko) and Fue-daiko (flute drum), and Mikoshi kasaboko (portable shrine float) go around six farm lands in former Shirakumura with Aoi-mon (Hollyhock crest) and Takahari-chochin (a paper lantern) given by Oshi no Matsudaira family, they carry the mikoshi to Arakawa River, wash the mikoshi, and pray for the escape of epidemics. Until 1918, the Kasaboko had 3 layers of kasa, but the kasa was removed due to the installation of electric wires, and now the mikoshi is carried on the cart of the Kasaboko and pulled as Mikoshi Kasaboko.

A Chichibu Cherry Blossom Ride April 2nd 2015

A two man ride into Saitama prefecture on a chilly Thursday morning. The weather picked up and the scenery was fantastic. Our lunch stop was closed but we found somewhere else. A fine day out.

秩父ループ橋

Chichibu Autumn 2018

We decided to have 1 more bike trip before winter kicks in and our sensei Ichihara-san brought us to Chichibu, Saitama. The weather was perfect and the autumn colors made the entire trip an amazing one. I wonder where do we go next spring 2019. Keep an eye on this channel!
