FAMILY TRAVEL in South Africa's Cape Province (iPhone)
A holiday in South Africa offers the proverbial world in one small country. You may think it's obvious that visitor numbers are up every year, especially with Cape Town being one of the world's most popular destinations, but it's not that straightforward.
South Africa has to fight hard for its share - a global, undiscerning media, stereotypical attitues and our own president looting the country - are a bit challenging.
But you know what ? It makes no difference to SA as a holiday destination. in fact when the currency is driven lower by his irrational decisions bordering on the insane, the value increases.
There are overwhelmingly positive stories coming out of the continent, ignored by the world media at large, for a variety of reasons we won't get into. Africa is bigger than the US. You can holiday in #Rwanda, most parts of the DRC and even Zimbabwe (although I'd give Libya and Somalia a miss).
You will find 'flat whites' and lattes as good as it gets in Kigali, and probably unmatched experiences elsewhere on the continent, usually not of the developed world (public transport is not for the uninitiated!) But that's why most people come here. For something different.
I've travelled extensively, and Chile and Estonia are on my bucket list, but when it comes to choosing a destination for a holiday, you won't find much better value than South Africa. Welcoming people too. And you will struggle to find a more beautiful place than #CapeTown and the Cape province.
I am a specialist tourist guide. I am also an environmental photojournalist, travel writer and current affairs TV producer of a couple decades experience.
I can create such trips for you, top-end or farm-stays and Photographic Safaris, relating the real stories of South and southern Africa along the way.

Speech by Survivor Kayitare Jean Marie Vianney at the Kwibuka Flame Tour Event in Huye
Watch this speech by Survivor Kayitare Jean Marie Vianney at the Urumuri Rutazima Kwibuka Flame Tour in Huye.
The Urumuri Rutazima (Kwibuka Flame) will travel through Rwanda's thirty districts before reaching Kigali on 7 April 2014, the start of the national mourning period.
The flame symbolises remembrance as well as the resilience and courage of Rwandans over the past twenty years. Carried in a simple lamp, it will be used to light other lamps in communities around Rwanda. To mark the 20th commemoration of the Genocide against the Tutsi, all memorial fires throughout the country will stem from this single Kwibuka Flame.
On returning to Kigali, President Paul Kagame will use the Kwibuka Flame to light the National Flame of Mourning. This will take place on 7 April 2014, marking the official beginning of the national mourning period. The flame will also be the source of the fire used at the candlelit vigil at Amahoro Stadium on the evening of 7 April 2014.

Standing on the biggest rock of East Africa! - VLOG 1 // Noord-Tanzania
TUENDE, TUENDE, LET's GO!

◎ Mijn verhaal? ◎

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
Rwanda ( (listen); Kinyarwanda: U Rwanda [u.ɾɡwaː.nda] (listen)), officially the Republic of Rwanda (Kinyarwanda: Repubulika y'u Rwanda; Swahili: Jamhuri ya Rwanda; French: République du Rwanda), is a country in Central and East Africa and one of the smallest countries on the African mainland. Located a few degrees south of the Equator, Rwanda is bordered by Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Rwanda is in the African Great Lakes region and is highly elevated; its geography is dominated by mountains in the west and savanna to the east, with numerous lakes throughout the country. The climate is temperate to subtropical, with two rainy seasons and two dry seasons each year.
The population is young and predominantly rural, with a density among the highest in Africa. Rwandans are drawn from just one cultural and linguistic group, the Banyarwanda, although within this group there are three subgroups: the Hutu, Tutsi and Twa. The Twa are a forest-dwelling pygmy people descended from Rwanda's earliest inhabitants. Scholars disagree on the origins of and differences between the Hutu and Tutsi; some believe differences are derived from former social castes within a single people, while others believe the Hutu and Tutsi arrived in the country separately, and from different locations. Christianity is the largest religion in the country; the principal language is Kinyarwanda, spoken by most Rwandans, with English and French serving as additional official languages. The sovereign state of Rwanda has a presidential system of government. The president is Paul Kagame of the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF), who took office in 2000. Rwanda today has low corruption compared with neighbouring countries, although human rights organisations report suppression of opposition groups, intimidation and restrictions on freedom of speech. The country has been governed by a strict administrative hierarchy since precolonial times; there are five provinces delineated by borders drawn in 2006. Rwanda is one of only two countries with a female majority in the national parliament.
Hunter gatherers settled the territory in the stone and iron ages, followed later by Bantu peoples. The population coalesced first into clans and then into kingdoms. The Kingdom of Rwanda dominated from the mid-eighteenth century, with the Tutsi kings conquering others militarily, centralising power and later enacting anti-Hutu policies. Germany colonised Rwanda in 1884 as part of German East Africa, followed by Belgium, which invaded in 1916 during World War I. Both European nations ruled through the kings and perpetuated a pro-Tutsi policy. The Hutu population revolted in 1959. They massacred numerous Tutsi and ultimately established an independent, Hutu-dominated state in 1962. A 1973 military coup saw a change of leadership, but pro-Hutu policy remained. The Tutsi-led Rwandan Patriotic Front launched a civil war in 1990. Social tensions erupted in the 1994 genocide, in which Hutu extremists killed an estimated 500,000 to 1 million Tutsi and moderate Hutu. The RPF ended the genocide with a military victory.
Rwanda's economy suffered heavily in wake of the 1994 genocide, but has since strengthened. The economy is based mostly on subsistence agriculture. Coffee and tea are the major cash crops for export. Tourism is a fast-growing sector and is now the country's leading foreign exchange earner. Rwanda is one of only two countries in which m ...
