Swansea Dance Days 2012 - Jack | Swansea’s International Dance Festival
Philippe Saire - Bowling Club Victoria Park
In 2008 Saire collaborated with Bruno Deville to make a short film, La Boule d'Or, a bittersweet waltz - an ode to the game of boules, to the passing of time, to team spirit, to moving with others, and to a peaceful way of life.
In summer 2012, Philippe took up residence in Victoria Park (next to the Patti Pavilion) and collaborated with eight of Victoria Bowls Club’s eldest members to devise a new live choreography that will premier as part of Taliesin Arts Centre’s Dance Days Festival.

Swansea, officially known as the City and County of Swansea, is a coastal city and county in Wales. Swansea is the second largest city in Wales after Cardiff, and the twenty-fifth largest city in the UK.
Swansea lies within the historic county boundaries of Glamorgan and the ancient Welsh commote of Gŵyr. Situated on the sandy South West Wales coast, the county of Swansea area includes the Gower Peninsula and the Lliw uplands.
The City and County of Swansea local authority area is bordered by unitary authorities of Carmarthenshire to the north, and Neath Port Talbot to the east. Swansea is bounded by Swansea Bay and the Bristol Channel to the south. Swansea can be roughly divided into four physical areas. To the north are the Lliw uplands which are mainly open moorland, reaching the foothills of the Black Mountain. To the west is the Gower Peninsula with its rural landscape dotted with small villages. To the east is the coastal strip around Swansea Bay. Cutting though the middle from the south-east to the north-west is the urban and suburban zone stretching from the Swansea city centre to the towns of Gorseinon and Pontarddulais.
Swansea City A.F.C. (founded 1912) is the city's main football association team. Originally playing at the Vetch Field, they moved to the Liberty Stadium at the start of the 2005–2006 season, winning promotion to League One in their final year at their old stadium. The team presently play in the Premier League, after being promoted during the 2010/11 season. The Football Association of Wales had decided that for the Euro 2012 qualifying campaign, Wales would play all of their home ties at either the Cardiff City Stadium or the Liberty Stadium. Swansea has three association football clubs that play in the Welsh Football League: Garden Village, South Gower and West End.

Canvas has much more art here:
Inspired by the incredible role of electricity in the human body, Charge is the electrifying new dance-circus show from the internationally-acclaimed touring company, Motionhouse. Digital projections create a magical world on stage where dancers and images interact seamlessly, bringing to life entertaining and emotional stories of energy in our own bodies. In an exciting fusion of art and science, Motionhouse has worked with partners from the University of Oxford on the role of electricity in the human body to inspire the show.
In this film, we see extracts from the production as well as an interview with director and creator of Charge, Kevin Finnan MBE. This is the third element of his 'Earth Trilogy'. Grav Trailer - Welsh Tour 2016
Torch Theatre Production 'Grav' Tour 2016
In October 2007 Ray Gravell, a man who for many embodied what it is to be Welsh, passed away after succumbing to complications resulting from contracting diabetes. He was 56 years old.
Known to millions for his legendary exploits on the rugby field, ‘Grav’ was and is so much more than that. An actor, a cultural icon, a father, a husband, a man with a life packed full of stories that deserve to be heard once more.
The Torch Theatre Company presents Gareth Bale as ‘Grav’ in a play written by Owen Thomas that celebrates the man and the legend. With the blessing of Mari, Ray’s widow, and contributions from his Welsh and British Lions team mates, this one man show will explore the life of a man who was as fascinating away from the rugby field as he was on it.
Directed by the Torch Theatre’s Artistic Director Peter Doran, ‘Grav’ will remind the world once more of a unique life well lived and of a man who did so much more than eat soft centres.
This production is directed by Peter Doran, written by Owen Thomas and performed by Gareth Bale.
Following the performances at the Torch Theatre Tues 9 - Sat 13 Feb 'Grav' will go on a 18 date tour of Wales in 2016.
To book tickets visit our dedicated Grav website gravcymru.co.uk or call the venues to book directly.

Townhill Street Names
A group of young film makers from Townhill Community Primary School created this video during a 4-day film workshop in August 2015, provided by LOCWS International, the creators of Art Across the City, Swansea. artacrossthecity.com
Produced by: Josh, Mia, Sophia, Tomas, Matthew, Liberty, Keelan and Gemma.
Film Description: This colourful and vibrant look at the magic remembered here of Merlin, Taliesin and Llewelyn. Bringing history to date by local school children, when finding out, reliving, through song and animation, mesmerising a bit more of the values and streets, on a journey of today’s Townhill. You will be amazed at Swansea’s buddy film makers of the future, they deserve a big cheer for a job well done.
The workshops enabled participants to design, develop and create their own film which involved creative writing, character design, animation, video and sound recording, and editing. Participants were encouraged to develop their own ideas from the outset and were guided through the process of scripting, designing, and shooting their films.
The project has been designed within the context of Arts, Culture and Heritage, and with this being a significant contributing tool to tackling poverty. LOCWS International is a member of the Swansea Creative Learning Partnership, which brings together Arts, Culture and Heritage organisations with Communities First and other organisations that contribute towards; alleviating the effects of poverty, and helping individuals benefit from exposure to the creative industries and cultural sector.

Oh Hello Trailer - Torch Theatre Company
Charles Hawtrey was one of the leading lights of the Carry On film franchise.
Bubbly, energetic and extremely funny Hawtrey was one of the best known comedy actors of the 40s, 50s and 60s but as his career waned so his behaviour became more drunken, promiscuous and eccentric losing him many friends in an age when male homosexuality in Britain was illegal and punishable by a prison sentence.
See him in this one-man show as he regales stories of 50 years in the film industry working with the likes of Alfred Hitchcock and starring in films including The Ghost of St Michael’s, Passport to Pimlico and a total of 21 Carry Ons. Hear of his hilarious run-ins with Kenneth Williams and his disdain of the Carry On producers as well as a complex relationship with his senile mother.
Oh Hello! first opened at the Torch Theatre, Milford Haven in November 2014, receiving a standing ovation at every performance. It has since gone on to perform at venues across Wales Cardiff and Assembly Hall, Edinburgh at the 2015 Fringe Festival. Written by Dave Ainsworth, directed by Peter Doran and performed by Jamie Rees the show has sold out every one of its performances so far, receiving four and five star reviews along the way and a prestigious Laurel Award at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe.
“Dave Ainsworth’s hit fringe tribute… Jamie Rees‘ finely tuned, sensitive performance…”
– Daily Mail
‘Incredibly skillful performance from Jamie Rees’.
– Sunday Express
“By turns bitchy, vulnerable and lonely, Rees’ Hawtrey rants with an ever present drink in hand… Sold out for the rest of its run, Carry On queueing for returns…”
– The Scotsman
“A tour-de-force performance by Jamie Rees captures the complex eccentricities of a comedy hero in this affectionate one-man portrait of Carry On star Charles Hawtrey.”
– Chortle
