Ultimate Guide To The Isle of Skye Scotland | Old Man of Storr and Much More | Scottish Highlands
We have been to the Isle of Skye on three separate occasions and have done many things on Skye. A couple of the most memorable experiences were hiking The Old Man of Storr, hiking The Quiraing, seeing the northern lights near Fairy Pools, and experiencing the strongest wind ever at Duntulum Castle!
The Isle of Skye is one of the most spectacular places on this planet, but the weather can be very temperamental, as you can see in our Isle of Skye Video! Even with visiting this highlands isle as many times as us, we were still confronted with extreme wind and rain each time--it's basically inevitable in Scotland!
So no matter what time of year you go, expect a little bit of the Scottish weather but don't worry, it's actually quite fun! The only advice we can give you on the time of year to go is that the summer is peak season and they titrate the number of people they allow onto the island if you are a tourist! So look at going in the shoulder seasons or book your accommodations well in advance and leave early to beat the traffic on those narrow Scottish Isle of Skye roads!
Cheers!

A Touch of Skye, the Isle, Scotland - Dji Mavic Pro drone - Skydronauts
The Isle of Skye, connected to Scotland's northwest coast by bridge, is known for its rugged landscapes, endearing wildlife, spectacular waterfalls, picturesque fishing villages and medieval castles. Skye is the largest island in the Inner Hebrides archipelago, with an indented coastline of peninsulas and narrow lochs, radiating out from a mountainous interior, featuring the Talisker Distillery, Dunvegan Castle, the Old Man of Storr, the magical Fairie Pools, sandy Coral Beach, Kilt Rock and the spectacular Lealt Falls, to name but a few highlights worth visiting on the isle.

Best Wild Swims on Skye | Wild Swimming in Scotland
Many people say the Isle of Skye is the most beautiful part of Scotland, and it’s also a wild swimmer’s wet dream! Here's Calum's top spots for Wild Swimming
The Allt Daraich, near Sligachan. A beautiful set of river pools, with something for everyone. You can chill out in the calm, clear water, there’s some fun jumps and some mad bastard jumps and all! Try and find where the river has made like a natural bathtub in the rock - it kinda looks like a jacuzzi. More of a cold tub than a hot tub though! If it’s salt you’re after, the only way is Talisker Bay! At sunset, it is amazing! You get this awesome light out to sea, and across the black and grey sand beach it shows up beautifully. Swim out to get a different view of this awesome place and if you’re lucky, you might catch some waves. You are now covered in salt, you are dirty, you need a wash! Come to the mighty waterfall at Lealt. At the bottom of the gorge there’s this awesome pool with some amazing jumping. Last but not least is the famous Fairy Pools, sitting right under the Cuillin. There’s a reason that this place in summer is as busy as Sauchiehall Street on a Saturday. The pools are stunning, they are way over-hyped though and they’re hoora cold all year round! Now you wanna come first light in the day to avoid all the punters getting their Instagram photos. You just don’t know where they’re pointing that zoom lens. Check out the crystal clear water, and if you’re hard enough to handle the cold, the best bit is a dive under an amazing natural arch that takes you from one pool to another.

Isle of Skye SCOTLAND | Family Trip | Travel Video
A great visit to Scotland in early May 2018. A breathtaking journey from Glasgow to the Isle of Skye by the amazing Glen Coe. The base was located in Glenelg from where every day we were going to admire the beautiful Isle of Skye. Sometimes by Glenelg-Skye ferry and sometimes a Skye Bridge in Kyle of Lochalsh. In early May the sun sets quite late so we could explore the island from morning to night. We will definitely remember Old Man of Storr, Neist Point, Portree, Talisker distillery, Fairy Glen, Kilt Rock and of course gorgeous Quiraing. We accidentally got to the small town of Elgol. It was something absolutely wonderful. And this view of Black Cuillin….
Among others you can see in the movie:
0:00 Ratagan / Loch Duich view
0:07, 0:33, 0:45 Glen Coe
0:15 Neist Point
0:42 Eilean Rarsaidh / Arnisdale - Loch Houm view
0:59 highland cows

Northern Lights Isle of Skye.
Aurora over Staffin Bay, Isle of Skye. Always difficult to catch on moving film. The colours seen on this video were exactly as seen by the naked eye unlike most still photographs where the effect is magnified. An amazing show.
82 Islands, Island #1 : The Isle of Skye (and a crappy situation)
82 Islands
Island #1: The Isle of Skye
This is the first video diary of my 82 islands trip and sadly it's not as positive as I'd hoped...
I've started on Skye... where better to begin than the island I call home?
Frustratingly, this video isn't about what I wanted for the intro to 82 islands but it does show exactly why it's important to spread the word about Leave No Trace.
One thing I wanted to do on these visits is leave the islands a little better than I found them and part of this meant clearing up these wet wipes after my morning swim in the waterfall and covering the poop itself with stones -yuck!
Anyone who leaves stuff like this for others to clean up needs a good dose of karma!
Literally a crappy beginning...
