Tallinn, Estonia is a place I'd wanted to visit for a while. I kept being told from other travellers that Tallinn is not only a beautiful city, but one that has friendly people, and a great vibe. After a fairly quick visit to the city, I would definitely agree. The vibe in Tallinn is great. It's a bit of a party town, and the weather in the winter can be a bit crazy, but I absolutely loved it. Moreover, Tallinn is a great city for photography. It has some iconic views, and lots of photogenic little streets and alleyways. It's a city I'd love to get back to and shoot a little more photography in.

Tallinn Estonia
We took these photos while we were visiting Tallinn Estonia in September of 2004. Estonia was conquered by the German's, Swede's, Danish, and Russians, but it is finally independent. There were some people with medieval Estonian Musical instruments playing for us. Estonia is a very interesting place to visit and the Estonian people are a good testimonial to the human spirit.

My TopDeck Travel trip through Scandinavia has come to an end here in Tallinn, Estonia. The trip was absolutely awesome. I made so many cool new friends, and we just had an amazing time. There were also so many cool images and video clips to come out of it. I think the vlogs, too, came out really amazingly. I'm stoked about how it all went.
But, I'm also really excited to wrap the project up. It's always so much fun seeing the end result of a couple week's of work. It's so rewarding to see the end of an assignment like this. So, I'm here in Tallinn trying to get everything organized and whipped off to editors and the client before my next project starts.
So, we kind of celebrated a bit with a going away party. We sampled some of the Tallinn nightlife. First, we went to a place that did test tubes of booze. It was a one of the many strange Tallinn nightclubs. Then, we tried to get into another one of the Tallinn nightclubs, a place called Hollywood, but they wouldn't let me in with my camera. So, we called it a night, and I turned this into a 2 day vlog.
I'm also excited that the project being done means that I can hang out a bit with my girlfriend for a bit before running off on my next travel photography assignment which is actually just days away. I've not introduced Jodie to the vlog yet, and the truth is that she'll largely not be on it as I want to keep my private an work life fairly separate at least for the time being. I will always be honest with you guys regarding my private life, but I'm also not going to disclose every detail like I did in the past.
Anyways, it's been amazing here in Tallinn, it's a city I really love, and it's also one of the most photogenic cities in the world. So, my girlfriend and I went out to shoot some images throughout the Tallinn. Photography in Tallinn is always such a treat. When the weather is behaving, it really is an easy place to photograph.
Tomorrow, the travel vlog will continue again as I make my way onto my next big assignment. Stay tuned.

ICE SKATING in Old Tallinn | BEIJING Photo Exhibition | Катание на коньках в старом Таллине
When the cold weather hits, ice skating around Old Town’s outdoor ice rink is a great way for the whole family to get into the winter spirit. The Uisuplats is in a romantic setting, on Harju street next to St. Nicholas' Church. Skates and support struts for beginners are available for rent. Afterwards warm up with a cup of hot drink at the next-door café.
We also visited photo exhibition at Freedom Square dedicated to the capital of China - Beijing.

Top 8 places to visit in Tallinn Estonia.
Tallinn is a hidden gem of Europe so make sure to visit before it gets overcrowded by tourists. There are plenty of wonderful attractions to choose from so everyone from history buffs to sports lovers and artists can find something to fall in love within the Estonian capital.
Tallinn Old Town.
Your trip to Tallinn is not complete until you walk around cobblestone streets of Tallinn Old Town and enjoy the beautiful buildings which were mostly built in the 14th-15th centuries. Also, some of the best restaurants and cafes are located in Tallinn Old Town, so make sure to find a minute to relax and try traditional Estonian dishes.
Tallinn TV Tower.
There is no better place in Tallinn to see the panoramic view of the city from high above than Tallinn TV Tower. Everything from old buildings to glistening Baltic Sea to green parks will be in your sights, so make sure to take a camera.
Estonian Open Air Museum.
After learning more about Estonian history and culture make sure to visit Estonian Open Air Museum and experience it all yourself. There is no better place in Estonia to see the everyday lives of the villagers in the 18th-20th century. You can even visit an old village tavern and try out the traditional Estonian dishes prepared by local cooks.
St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral.
St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is the most spectacular Orthodox church in Tallinn. You will be amazed by all the luxury and opulence inside this grand onion-domed structure.
Tallinn Town Wall.
Tallinn Town Wall is one of the best-preserved medieval fortifications in Europe, which will take you back to the Middle Ages. 20 towers and 1.9 kilometers long, the original wall is still standing, surrounding Tallinn Old Town and creating a wonderful fairytale atmosphere.
Kiek in de Kök.
Kiek in de Kök is a huge 38-meter-high cannon tower, which is now a museum. If you are interested in walls, cannons, and medieval exhibits, you must drop by this place, which is also a starting point of a hidden tunnels system which runs through Toompea Hill.
Kohtuotsa Viewpoint.
Kohtuotsa is one of the best viewpoints in Tallinn. It is a perfect place to visit anytime you want. In the early morning, when the weather is good, you can take photos of an amazing sunrise there. During the day you can admire the beautiful landscape of Tallinn. In the late afternoon, Kohtuotsa is a perfect spot to watch the sunset. And of course, we can’t imagine a better place to take photos of Tallinn at night.
Oleviste Church.
Oleviste Church was built in 1250 and was the tallest building in Europe during the Middle Ages. You must visit if you want to see a true architectural masterpiece. Also, you can go inside the church as it is still actively used for masses and other ceremonies.
1980 Tallinn Archive | Estonia in Soviet Time | Olympic Games | XIX Song Festival
The photo collection of the Estonian National Archive made in Tallinn in 1980. The photo collection of the National Archives – Estonia’s largest collection of historical photographs – took shape as a result of the 1935 Archives Act and the Soviet-era archival system. The photo collections of the National Archives can be searched through the Fotis information system.
Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic (Estonian SSR or ESSR) was a republic of the Soviet Union. The ESSR was initially established on the territory of the Republic of Estonia on 21 July 1940, following the invasion of Soviet troops on 17 June 1940, and the installation of a puppet government backed by the Soviet Union, which declared Estonia a Soviet constituency. The Estonian SSR was subsequently incorporated into the Soviet state on 6 August 1940. The territory was occupied by Nazi Germany from 1941 to 1944 and administered as a part of Reichskommissariat Ostland.
On 16 November 1988, the Estonian SSR became the first republic within the Soviet sphere of influence to declare state sovereignty from Moscow. On 30 March 1990, the Estonian SSR declared that Estonia had been occupied since 1940 and declared a transitional period for the country's full independence. The Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic was renamed as the Republic of Estonia on 8 May 1990. The independence of the Republic of Estonia was re-established on 20 August during the 1991 Soviet coup d'état attempt the following year and the Soviet Union itself recognised the independence of Estonia on 6 September 1991.

First Time in Estonia | 48 Hours in Tallinn
Welcome to Tallinn everybody! This is our first ever experience of Estonia :)
It feels so good to finally be exploring Estonia - we got so close to seeing it this year with our trips to Russia and especially to Finland - so glad we could finally make it work.
We started our day at one of the most beautiful lookouts in Estonia, the Kohtuotsa lookout and the Patkuli viewing platform. From there we walked around the upper level of the walled city before making our way to ROST Bakery for some cinnamon scrolls and hot chocolates.
From there we went to the old town square to see the Christmas markets which are on till the middle of January if you want that European Christmas feel.
That evening we had a super unique medieval dinner at Olde Hansa with traditional meals and music.
The next morning we went to down below the Maiden’s Tower and Kiek in de Kök to get the best views of the city.

Vana Tallinn | Tallinn, Estonia
Once we travelled on a sea ferry by Baltic Sea and visited 4 famous Northern capitals. Our journey was started from the Norther Russian Capital - Saint Petersburg.
Third stop of our ferry was in the fabulous city – Tallinn, which is an Estonia capital.
Tallinn is the capital and largest city of Estonia. It is on the northern coast of the country, on the shore of the Gulf of Finland in Harju County. From the 13th century until, the city was known as Reval.
Our Tallinn walk has begun in the seaport, where you can go up in a balloon to a height of 120 meters. From the balloon opens a beautiful panorama of the capital of Estonia, of the seaport and of the old town and residential areas.
When we descended from the Tallinn balloon, we went for a walk through the old town. In the old town we visited another high-rise observation deck which is located in the Church of St. Olaf. In the 16th century, the height of the main tower reached a height of 159 meters, which allowed the Church of Saint Olaf in Tallinn to be considered the tallest building in the world. It is said that in a good weather you can see Helsinki from the tower.
After visiting the tower, we had a long walk through old Tallinn, during which we had seen its most important sights and had a great time at all.
After the walk, we arrived to the port of Tallinn, where our ferry was waiting for us, on which we were going to go to Russia, to the Saint Petersburg city.
It was a beautiful day in Tallinn, in wonderful Northern capital of Estonia.
The visit of Tallinn was very interesting and cognitive.
