Now here is a nice little place. Just up the road from Kangaroo Valley in NSW. It is called Lake Yarrunga and is part of the Morton National Park. The lake was formed when the Tallowa Dam was built in the 70's and is a great place to kayak and camp.

Steve, Ray, Sue and others have been going up there every year for two nights camping. If you have a kayak and want to join us ring Steve at Dive Adventures Ulladulla. If you don't have a kayak you can hire one from him or bring your own.

Kangaroo Valley - Fly Land Campsite

Obviously what should have been a 40 minute row down the river had to take 3 hours, to travel 3 km. The initial plan was to row 13 km. Besides the summer flies, it was a pretty cool camp site.

Between Christmas and New Year 2018 - only a couple of other groups on the water. We paddle up the Shoalhaven River from the Dam in Kangaroo Valley. This is just 3 hours South of Sydney - a great trip if you're in the right frame of mind for our unique Australian wildlife.

Kayak fishing with surface lures for Australian Bass at Bendeela and Tallowa Dam NSW December 2013. Although the bass in this video are not huge they provide great fun to catch. Kayak used was Jackson Coosa 2012 model.

Kangaroo Valley is a gently sloping wide valley surrounded on its sides by high mountains of the NSW Southern Highlands, approximately two hours' drive south-west of Sydney and about two hours north of Canberra. Flying Fox Pass looks over the valley. A few kilometres further north is the Fitzroy Falls.

Kangaroo Valley Jan 2013,a gentle paddle through the Shoalhaven Gorge as far as we could go...about 12kms. This pristine waterway is the best flatwater paddle in Australia because there are no outboards allowed, no roads or tracks along it's shores, so it's perfectly quiet apart from the birds, the wind in the trees and the occasional wild goat bleating. You will see other kaykers in Summer but they are there to appreciate the beauty as well. The first camping spot is about 5kms in and then there are many dotted along the banks. On this trip we shared our camping spot with a deadly red belly black snake and didn't realise until we were leaving , he just wanted a drink......give them respect and you'll be fine.
It was so hot we spent a lot of time swimming and the water was beautiful. Give it a go you'll love it.

Tallowa Dam - Shoalhaven Nov. 2017

Drove down to Tallowa Dam (Kangaroo Valley) on Friday night, after work - rushed to get on the water and make it to the first campsite. Made it!! Yay! Was the start to a great weekend on the Shoalhaven. The Shoalhaven Gorge was stunning, as always, and there was plenty of wildlife to see, and interesting debates and discussions to be had.

Kangaroo Valley Overnight Canoe/Camping Adventure

Went to kangaroo Valley with Dao and Anne. Hired Canoes, loaded them up with camping gear and supplies and off we went. Paddled 13kms, camped overnight then paddled out 7kms towards Tallowa Dam spillway.
