Victoria by Horse-Drawn Trolley
The city and cruise port of Victoria are steeped in old world charm. With its manicured lawns and impressive displays of gardens and hanging baskets adorning the streets, on this one hour excursion you'll see why Victoria is nicknamed the City of Gardens. At the cruise terminal you'll board your trolley, drawn by two magnificent draught horses. Get cozy in your seat and feel free to wrap yourself in the provided blanket.
Your journey will take you past the gorgeous historical homes, located between the cruise terminal and the downtown inner harbor. Enjoy the lively narration of your guide as they giddy up and whoa boy this tour through town! You'll see the largest park in Victoria, as well as the famous Empress Hotel, and the British Columbia legislative buildings, commonly referred to as the Parliament buildings. Sit back and relax as you're carried by real horsepower back to the ship.
Note: This is an open-air vehicle and we recommend you bring a jacket. Guests will need to navigate two steps to board the trolley and due to safety concerns, wheel chairs, walkers, strollers and scooters must be left at the departure location.

Horsedrawn Carriages and Tour Buses Too Much for Downtown?
VICTORIA -- A freak accident involving a horse drawn carriage and a tour bus has people questioning whether either belong.
A horse was struck by a tour bus at the corner of Wharf and Fisgard earlier this week -- sending the carriage on a driver-less trip at high speeds through downtown Victoria.
A woman in the carriage was taken for a 'ride from hell' before jumping off.
The corner where it happened is notoriously tight -- and notoriously busy.
Animal activists are calling for an end to horse drawn carriages. Supporters say the horses love their jobs and are treated well.
Still others say maybe the horses aren't the problem at all. Fisgard Street is the heart of Chinatown and is very narrow.
The city's downtown liaison wonders why the buses don't just drop people off at Government and pick them up at Store Street to give people a chance to really see Chinatown.
Shellie Gudgeon says the city would be willing to look at options to improve safety downtown and banning tour buses from that section of Fisgard Street may be the way to go.

Horse-Drawn Carriages in Sidney - Shaw TV Victoria
They're an iconic sight in downtown Victoria now, but horse-drawn carriages used to be more prevalent elsewhere in the capital region in days gone by. Shaw TV's Jen Muranetz tells the story of the return of the horse and buggy to Beacon Avenue in Sidney.

Horse & Carriage City Tour - Massive Horse - Victoria, British Columbia
Part 2 - of my downtown Victoria British, Columbia Tour
I decide to take my friends on a little sight seeing tour of downtown Victoria, BC.
We came across an interesting fountain and monument in Part 1 that illustrated the provinces and territories of Canada with each ones shield and symbol representing a union within our country.
After shooting the fountain scene, I happen to notice a horse and carriage resting beside the road in beside our provincial capital building. On further investigation, we find ourselves riding horse and carriage on a guided tour through the city of Victoria. Join me as I truly am a tourist in my own town on this city tour with this working horse named Major. This tour was booked with no reservation and done through Tally ho tours:

Tally-Ho Carriage Tours - Hidden Acres Farm
The Tally-Ho horses live with their human family at Hidden Acres Farm, which is located about 25 minutes from downtown Victoria. The farm is aptly named as it provides a small, private oasis for the horses to relax when they are not working.
The horses are trucked from the farm to downtown Victoria for their work days. In peak season there are two shifts of horses working per day, and up to six carriages per shift. After each shift, the horses are immediately returned to Hidden Acres Farm.
When horses retire from their carriage work, they remain at Hidden Acres Farm with the family of owners and employees who love them. We have a number of horses in our herd that are no longer working and are kept strictly as pets.

Victoria horse drawn carriage tours under attack - YouTube
A carriage was heading south on Wharf Street close to 5:30 p.m., with two passengers, when the horse was spooked and bolted into the north lane on Government Street, hitting two cars and a motorcycle.
From what I have seen online, there had been 2 incidents with the carriages in recent years, one in 2012 and one now. If that's all it takes to ban them then motor vehicle drivers should be worried. How many car accidents have taken place in the same period and pedestrians hit by cars?
Having just recently spent time in Victoria as a tourist, our issue is with all the bicyclists who think they own the road. No regard for traffic or even right of way on many occasions.
Victoria Horse Carriage Tour driver on cell phone while driving.
Just two days ago we took footage of a carriage horse that has concerned many about the operation of the horse drawn carriages in Victoria. Today we went back and within minutes were able to capture footage of a carriage driver on her cell phone while driving two tourists. This compromises the safety of the horse, tourists, and other drivers on the road.
