This is our favourite railway and area of the Country,who would want to travel abroad when we have views and scenes like these,beautiful!
I have split the video into two parts so that we could cram everything in,you should see how much was left out as well.
If you have visited this railway I hope this video brings back many happy memories.
We had two trips during our stay plus a few walks and car trips to the railway to get more off
train shots.
I hope you enjoy my efforts over the two videos.
As you can see the weather was amazing,the warmest Easter on record for Wales.Will we come again? You bet we will.
The Talyllyn Railway ~ The World's First Preserved Railway ~ 29/07/2017 2017
My final upload from my wonderful North Wales Holiday is a journey along the World's First preserved Railway (1951)...The Talyllyn Narrow Gauge Railway in North Wales. This line is probably known best for the inspiration for Rev W Audry the author of the World Famous 'Thomas The Tank' Books.
We start at the Railway's lower terminus at Tywyn Wharf, where we see 1921 built Kerr Stuart 'Peter Sam' shunting the stock for our 7 1/4 mile run up the line behind 1991 built by the Talyllyn Railway, 'Tom Rolt' the line's newest and most powerful locomotive.

It is really picturesque with Moses on old trees, and waterfalls etc.

Our trip was on Douglas in his RAF 100 livery. Douglas being the incarnation of Duncan in the books, but unlike Duncan, never missed a beat and was very well behaved
Talyllyn Railway Part 1, Tywyn - Abergynolwyn via Nant Gwernol
Following the journey along the Cambrian coast we join the first preserved railway, the Talyllyn railway runs for just over 7 miles from the seaside town of Tywyn to the village of Abergynolwyn, and on to Nant Gwernol, following the natural contours of the land. We board locomotive No. 1 'Talyllyn' for the journey up the line from Tywyn Wharf. Once we arrive at the end of the line, Nant Gwernol, we await to locomotive to run round, before returning as far as Abergynolwyn where part 1 ends.

Over my summer holiday, I visited the Talyllyn railway, a narrow gauge railway in Tywyn, North Wales. Used originally for slate transportation from the quarries in Nant Gwernol, Abergynolwyn, to the ports at Tywyn. Nowadays its used March to October taking passengers on an amazing train journey through the countryside. I recommend a visit

Train Simulator 2016 - Talyllyn Adventure with Dolgoch #1 - 150 Event!
Another Train Sim video here for us all, when I take the lovely lady Dolgoch across the Talyllyn Route. I did make a few mistakes in saying who make the route and such, this was because i was in a rush and didn't really give it thought, so my apologies there. But this really is a fantastic little route aswell as a wonderful line in general. Truly is something else in my eyes.

2019 Sep 19 The Talyllyn Railway
A recent spell of good weather meant another long day-trip into the Welsh countryside. With Wales you are always spoilt for choice when it comes to railways, so this time I chose another new line - the Talyllyn Railway, reputedly the world's first preserved railway.

This is my first attempt at using a new video editing package - DaVinci Resolve. I'm just getting to grips with it, so apologies if the video is a bit rough around the edges. I'm determined to master it since a) its more powerful than my previous editor, and b) its free!

Talyllyn Railway Part 2, Abergynolwyn - Tywyn via Dolgoch Falls
Returning to the train at Abergynolwyn we once again board the train behind No. 1 'Talyllyn' for the 10 minute journey to Dolgoch, where we alight and take a walk into the Dolgoch ravine, with waterfalls running free attracting walkers and tourists. Afterwards we return to the train, this time hauled by No. 7 'Tom Rolt' for the remainder of the journey back to Tywyn

Great Little Trains of Wales #3:
We move now to the worlds oldest preserved railway, the 7 1/4 mile long Talyllyn Railway.
This 2ft 3inch line opened in 1867 from the slate quaries in the hills above Abergynolwyn to the Wharf at Tywyn, with two locomotives operating a 'one train in steam' policy with mixed trains of passenger and freight.
A checkered few dacades passed until the quarry the lined served closed in 1946 and the railway soldured on for a few more years until Haydn Jones, the then owner of the railway, passed away in 1950. The auther Tom Rolt set up a campaign to save the line and in 1951 it became the worlds first preserved railway.
61 years on the line is as busy as ever carrying tourists by their thousands each year, and on this particular Monday four engines can be seen operating the timetable including one of the original line engines. Hope you enjoy!

Talyllyn Railway 2019 - 'Anything goes gala' 15th June: Mixed traction. Part one of two.

Welcome to the Anything goes gala!
The first train on Saturday morning was an 'early morning passenger train' hauled by Alf a diesel Hunslet. We catch this first off departing Tywyn and then managed to beat it to Dolough to also film it going over the falls.
The next Departure from Tywyn was Douglas which I was able to get to just before Hendy to film.
The next departure from Tywyn was a double header with Sir Hayen & Edward Thomas which unfortunately due to me reading the timetable wrong we were not able to catch). The double header was splitting to allow Edward Thomas to do 'Driver experience' at Abergonolwyn you see. However this was repeated later on in the day.
In this time when I thought that the double header was just a standard train (my bad) we went to Abergonolwyn and got Douglas for the second time on the station platform going up to Nant Gwernal and Sir Hayden had already returned from Nant Gwernal at this point and waiting to Depart Abergonolwyn on its own back to Tywyn. Whilst Sir Hayden was waiting I filmed a little of Edward Thomas, again on the station platform doing the 'Driver experience'.
Sir Hayden departed Abergonolwyn in a cloud of smoke for Tywyn and then I rushed to get Douglas the freight train once more returning back to Abergonolwyn between after its departure from Nant Gwernal.

Peter Sam's Talyllyn Railway Adventure! - 1992
The Talyllyn Railway is a preserved narrow gauge railway line in Tywyn, Wales. Originally starting off as a line to bring down slate from the quarries at Bryn Eglwys to Tywyn, the Talyllyn Railway has evolved into a tourist attraction, seeing dozens of visitors each year.
The railway served as the inspiration for the Skarloey Railway in the Railway Series. A few of the locomotives as well as the railway itself have made appearances in the books, and the line hosts special events that see the locomotives running as their fictional counterparts.
Talyllyn Railway - Anything Goes Gala (2018)
A film on the Talyllyn Railway's 2018 Anything Goes Gala, a special occasion marked by Sir Haydn's return to service and Talyllyn's last runs before her overhaul. For this event, all of the railway's engines were run, carrying passengers and goods trains up and down the line.
The video starts from the morning diesel services up to the grand cavalcade finale in the evening with all the steam and diesel engines. Clips were shot in various locations, such as Dolgoch Falls, Rhydyronen, and the Tywyn Wharf.
