Originally a tiny surfing town, Tamarindo now has the reputation of being one of the most developed on the North Pacific Coast, but it still has lots of rugged charm, as well as luxury houses, restaurants with cuisines from around the world, casual beach bars, sophisticated nightlife, and a choice of 18-hole golf courses 20 minutes to the south or north. There’s also terrific fishing and surfing. Tamarindo is close to protected green areas and several national parks.

Tamarindo Costa Rica (Tomagringo)
Day 11 of our 14 day trip brought us to the town of Tamarindo, sometimes called tomagringo, to explore. We found a good deal on a board rental so we spent the day surfing!
The beach in Tamarindo was very nice and the town is very nice to walk through. It is worth a visit if you are in the area.

In this video the travel turtles visit Tamarindo Beaches, in Guanacaste Province, Costa Rica. We share a tour of these beautiful beaches including BOTH Playa Langosta and Playa Grande. This area is the perfect location to completely chill out and relax, but with also plenty things to do such as surfing, shopping or enjoying the local restaurants and street food. . We flew here on a package holiday with TUI from the UK.

A white canopy with a large chandelier hangs over the entrance. The walkway from the road is made from slices of local trees, each slice acting as a stepping stone. Right away you know this is going to be somewhere special and it is. It is an awesome place to stay.
First you have to understand Tamarindo a bit to appreciate what a wonderful spot Ocho Bungalows is. Tamarindo beach extends north to south. The north end of the beach is busy and busy and busy. The south end of the beach is a quick walk to the busy but is quiet and peaceful and relaxing, perfect for laying out, surfing and walking. Ocho is perfectly placed at the south end of the beach where it is peaceful and relaxing but close enough to be a quick walk to the supermarket and the better restaurants. You do not need a car. You are both central and away.

Ocho B is right on the beach. It is clean, simple and beautiful. There is no where comparable that is right on the beach in Tamarindo. We did not sleep there as it just opened one week before our arrival but Shon and his wife Mika, both of whom are the most warm and welcoming of hosts, gave me a tour of a couple of the huts/cabins and were generous enough to let us hang by the pool.
Think tribal hut with air-conditioning and pristine wood floor. If you are a couple or a young family you could not do better. Each cabin has a small mini kitchen, is clean, simple, newly renovated and beautiful and did I mention each cabin is exactly 30 steps to the beach (actually one cabin is on the beach).
If you are looking for a safe, beautiful, clean, simple, relaxing place to hang in Tamarindo within walking distance to all of the amenities and right on the beach, then you could not do better than Ocho Artisan Bungalows.
