MT TAMBORINE, GOLD COAST
Some say this is the green behind the gold, which makes the Gold Coast so seductive, and it’s easy to see why Tamborine Mountain is in tune with tourists. Let’s start with the rainforest, in the third oldest National Park in the world, which celebrates the remnants of the former Mount Warning volcano. There are numerous walks and lookouts from which to enjoy Mother Nature at her most blindingly brilliant, including the mysteriously-named Witches Falls or charming Cedar Creek.
There’s 12 walking tracks in all and each one is no longer than around 3km, so if you like a stroll among the birds, bees, flowers and the trees, this is for you. For a change of pace, enjoy several wineries, a brewery and even a distillery up on the mountain, which is perfectly punctuated with award-winning restaurants, art galleries, sweeping coastal views and that delicious mix of old and new-world charm.
Indulge in home-grown produce such as avocados, kiwifruits and macadamia nuts as well as award-winning cheeses and fabulous fudge, or dine in some seriously swish restaurants. Select from cosy cottages, decadent dwellings and a hotel or two, including the iconic St Bernard’s Hotel, in which to stay the night.
Explore the area by yourself, or join a tour which takes in a number of attractions such as Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk and the Glow Worm Caves. Romantics rush to the mountains to get married here and it’s easy to see why. For this is Queensland’s own Emerald City. That’s right Dorothy, you are not in Kansas anymore. This is Oz.

Visit Mt Tamborine Queensland - Near Gold Coast & Brisbane
Mt Tamborine is a short drive from Brisbane and the Gold Coast. There are many fun things to do such as visit wineries, hang gliding, a host of cafes, craft shops, bed and breakfasts and trails through the National Parks.
It is fun to come with the family for a picnic or BBQ. Couples can also enjoy a romantic weekend getaway at one of the many unique Bed and Breakfasts that Mt Tamborine offers.

Mt Tamborine - Polish Place

Skywalk - Tamborine reinforest
This exciting new Eco-Adventure offers guests a unique and thrilling way to explore the beautiful rainforest canopies. Set in a magical 30 acres of privately owned rainforest beside the crystal clear rock-pools of Cedar Creek on Mt Tamborine, Queensland, Australia.
The walk departs directly from the Eco Gallery with a comprehensive array of Australian rainforest flora and fauna displays.
The walk takes approximately 45 minutes at a leisurely pace, when pausing to view the many points of interest and information along the way.
The entire walk totals 1.5 kms and is a combination of forest floor trails, 300 metres of high-tech steel bridges through the highest points of the upper canopy, and a 40 metre cantilever bridge that soars a breathtaking 30 metres above the creek and rainforest below.
For those who venture onto the canopy walk, the adventure begins in the Rainforest Eco Gallery which has a comprehensive array of rainforest fauna and flora information and displays.
These include interpretive panels with descriptions and photos of sub-tropical rainforest wildlife, static displays and an aquarium with a variety of Australian freshwater fish.
The “Birdwing Café” serves delicious light refreshments inside or on the deck beside the rainforest, also on offer an interesting gift and souvenir shop with quality merchandise.

Surfers Paradise is a suburb within the local government area of City of Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. At the 2011 census, Surfers Paradise had a population of 19,668. Colloquially known as 'Surfers', the suburb has many high-rise apartment buildings and a wide surf beach. The feature of the heart of the suburb is Cavill Mall, which runs through the shopping and entertainment precinct. Cavill Avenue, named after Jim Cavill, an early hotel owner, is one of the busiest shopping strips in Queensland, and the centre of activity for night life. One of the features of the area is the Surfers Paradise Meter Maids designed to build goodwill with tourists.
Tamborine Mountain is a 28 square kilometres plateau and locality in the Scenic Rim local government area of South East Queensland, Australia. In the 2011 census, Tamborine Mountain had a population of 7,030 people.

The gang and I woke up extra early the other morning to head to the top of Mount Tamborine here in Australia between Gold Coast and Brisbane. The sun really cooperated with us and gave us quite the show for the sunrise as it was breathtaking. Mount Tamborine has been my favorite mountain here in Australia so far as the scenery was marvellous. I highly encourage anyone to make the early trip in morning to catch the sunrise at the top of Mount Tamborine Australia. One more check off my list for 2019! If you live in the Gold Coast area and want to go for an adventure, leave a comment and we can make it happen! I'd even be down to go to Mount Tamborine again.

My having seen Michael Ward and his Tamborine Mountain Distillery on two British TV programmes, my hosts, Neville and Laura take me there. Tamborine Mountain is in the hinterland of the Gold Coast. Here, we set out in the trusty Nissan X-Trail.
