MT TAMBORINE, GOLD COAST
Some say this is the green behind the gold, which makes the Gold Coast so seductive, and it’s easy to see why Tamborine Mountain is in tune with tourists. Let’s start with the rainforest, in the third oldest National Park in the world, which celebrates the remnants of the former Mount Warning volcano. There are numerous walks and lookouts from which to enjoy Mother Nature at her most blindingly brilliant, including the mysteriously-named Witches Falls or charming Cedar Creek.
There’s 12 walking tracks in all and each one is no longer than around 3km, so if you like a stroll among the birds, bees, flowers and the trees, this is for you. For a change of pace, enjoy several wineries, a brewery and even a distillery up on the mountain, which is perfectly punctuated with award-winning restaurants, art galleries, sweeping coastal views and that delicious mix of old and new-world charm.
Indulge in home-grown produce such as avocados, kiwifruits and macadamia nuts as well as award-winning cheeses and fabulous fudge, or dine in some seriously swish restaurants. Select from cosy cottages, decadent dwellings and a hotel or two, including the iconic St Bernard’s Hotel, in which to stay the night.
Explore the area by yourself, or join a tour which takes in a number of attractions such as Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk and the Glow Worm Caves. Romantics rush to the mountains to get married here and it’s easy to see why. For this is Queensland’s own Emerald City. That’s right Dorothy, you are not in Kansas anymore. This is Oz.

Such a picturesque and relaxing spot that you should visit while on the Gold Coast. The route starts on top of the walk way, where you then descend to a creek bed, and then walk along the base of the trees.

This week takes us south of Brisbane to the vibrant community of Mount Tamborine. Join us as we explore the many walking tracks and National Parks including the first such National Park in Queensland, Witches Falls. In this day trip we managed three separate hikes on the mountain with food breaks. Very achievable if you get up there early and you won't regret it when you are rewarded the beautiful sunset looking over Brisbane city in the distance. BONUS: keep an eye out for the best natural vine swing I have ever found

Walk above the tree line on a raised steel walkway. See hundred year old plants untouched by humans. This exciting new Eco-Adventure offers guests a unique and thrilling way to explore the beautiful rainforest canopies. Set in a magical 30 acres of privately owned rainforest beside the crystal clear rock-pools of Cedar Creek on Mt Tamborine, Queensland, Australia. The walk departs directly from the Eco Gallery with a comprehensive array of Australian rainforest flora and fauna displays.
The walk takes approximately 45 minutes at a leisurely pace, when pausing to view the many points of interest and information along the way. The entire walk totals 1.5 kms and is a combination of forest floor trails, 300 metres of high-tech steel bridges through the highest points of the upper canopy, and a 40 metre cantilever bridge that soars a breathtaking 30 metres above the creek and rainforest below.
