Biking meets boating in downtown Tampa
Sure, you can ride a bike along the river thanks to Tampa’s expanded Riverwalk. But you can also ride a bike on the river itself, thanks to the Tampa Bay Water Bike Company.
The watercraft are available to rent next to the Tampa Convention Center.
Tampa Bay Water Bike Ribbon Cutting
A new business is added to Tampa's Downtown waterfront and Mayor Bob Buckhorn is there to recognize its importance to the growth of the Tampa Riverwalk. Tampa Bay Water Bike Company @TampaWaterBikes gives just about anyone the chance to peddle their way down the Hillsborough River.
Biking along the Hillsborough River at The Tampa Riverwalk
I'm not a professional - I'm Just having fun - Tampa Riverwalk is a phased open space and pedestrian trail development along the Hillsborough River in Tampa, Florida. The downtown Tampa portion travels alongside the Tampa Arts District and includes Curtis Hixon Park, The Macdill Park, the Tampa Museum of Art, Glazer Children's Museum, Rivergate Tower and adjacent atrium containing the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts. The Riverwalk extends along most of the downtown Tampa waterfront from the Channelside District west to the Tampa Convention Center and north up the east bank of the Hillsborough River to Water Works Park in Tampa Heights, forming a continuous path of 2.4 miles. The project dates back to the 1970s - Tampa Florida - 1/18/2017

Tour by Boat - The Bridges of Tampa Bay
For licensing or purchasing stock footage in this video contact Randy at info@TampaAerialMedia.com
We take a tour boat powered by a Mercury Pro XS 115 with a mavic 2 pro drone exploring the major bridges of Tampa Bay.
The Sunshine Skyway opened in 1987. 7 years after a freightline knock out 1000 feet of the old Skyway bridge on a foggy morning of May 9th, 1980 sadly killing 35 people who were unaware of the missing segment of bridge. Construction began in 1982 at a cost of 244 million. It took 5 years to build, very rapid construction considering the size of the bridge. It is over 4 miles long. The cables descending from 2 towers are set in the middle of the bridge so that mortorists would always have an unimpeded view of the bay. This bridge is 190 feet above the water allowing ships to safely pass underneath. The bridge connects St Petersburg (Pinellas County) with Bradenton (Manatee County), however the middle of the waterway is owned by Hillsborough County.
The Gandy Bridge almost 3 miles long Connects South Tampa with St Petersburg. The original 2 spans of the Gandy Bridge was built in 1924. One Span demolish in 1975 with the 2nd Span, you used to be open for pedestrians and bicyclist until 2016 when it was demolished as well. The 3 span is the lower level span you see built in 1975 and the 4th span being the higher level span opened in 1997,
The Howard Franklin is I-275, was named after the businessman who proposed the building of it. It opend in 1960 with 2 lanes in each direction, one span and no median barrier, With no emergency Shoulders it was proved to be dangers and was nicked named ‘Howard Frankenstein”. With the Skyway disaster in 1980 more traffic burden was placed on this bridge and it was clear it needed to be expanded. The southbound span opened in 1990. Today the Howard Franklin speedway has 4 lines in both directions.
The Courney Campbel Causeway, highway 60 is not only a bridge from Tampa to Clearwater, but it provides a popular recreation area, beaches as wells a bike path, the Corney Campbell Trail which is 10.5 miles long the only path which allows you to completely cross Tampa Bay on bike or on feet. The Causeway open in 1934 originally called the Davis Causeway, named after Ben T Davis the owner of the local dredging company who help begin the process of building the cause way. The beach on the Causeway is now named after him, but the causeway itself renamed in 1948 after a US Representative, Clearwater Beach resident who spearheaded efforts to make needed repaires and a beautification project.
South Tampa ???? One of Tampa's Most Popular Areas | MELANIE ❤️ TAMPA BAY
One of the most popular Tampa Bay areas is definitely South Tampa, so let's take a closer look to see if it's for you!
Generally when people are talking about South Tampa, they're referring to the peninsula that juts down into Tampa Bay with the northern boundary of South Tampa being State Road 60 (Kennedy Boulevard) and the southern boundary being MacDill Air Force Base.
So why do so many want to live in South Tampa?
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION
South Tampa is close to two large commercial areas - the Westshore District near Tampa International Airport, and Downtown Tampa. That makes for a convenient commute. However, you would have pretty quick access to highways bringing you to other Tampa Bay areas including I-275 and the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway, originally known as the Southern Crosstown Expressway.
It's also close to fun places around Downtown Tampa like Amalie Arena, Curtis Hixon Park, The Florida Aquarium, Glazer Children's Museum, Straz Center for the Performing Arts, and Sparkman Wharf.
EATING, DRINKING & SHOPPING
Because South Tampa has been a popular areas for a long time, many local and chain businesses and restaurants have set up shop here. You don't have to go far to find an amazing restaurant, fun boutique, or grocery store.
Great spots for shopping include WestShore Plaza, International Plaza, and Hyde Park Village.
Howard Avenue is known for the famous Bern's Steak House and quite a few bars appealing to the younger crowd.
SCHOOL DISTRICT
If you've been looking online at listings, you probably see the phrase in the Plant High School District. Plant High School is consistently one of the highest rated in the area. Make sure you check the actual school zone for the house you're interested in purchasing.
The other high school in South Tampa is in the southern portion of the peninsula - Robinson High School.
*NOTE: School zones subject to change
NOT COOKIE CUTTER
Because the area has been built over the last century, every house looks different and there are plenty of examples where century-old bungalows sit next to brand new contemporary construction.
If you value privacy, South Tampa can be a hard place to find it with many smaller lot sizes. Unless you are backing up to the water, golf course, or a street changes are good that you'll have a neighbor backing up to your property.
NEIGHBORHOODS & HOUSING OPTIONS
Neighborhood boundaries in South Tampa can be hard to figure out, as many aren't labeled well other than a small sign.
You can see beautiful, historic bungalows in Hyde Park Village, lots of new construction in Swann Estates from builders developing existing lots where older homes used to stand. There are townhouses close to Howard Avenue, and you'll find some walkable neighborhoods in South Tampa.
If you want your kids to be able to walk to Plant High School, look at Palma Ceia, West Palma Ceia, or Virginia Park.
Like Downtown St. Pete, South Tampa has some of the highest price real estate in the area since demand is so high. If you want a waterfront property in South Tampa, be prepared to spend well over $1 million.
Other popular neighborhoods include Beach Park, Bayshore Beautiful, Ballast Point, Interbay, Westshore Yacht Club, Culbreath Isles, Sunset Park, Golfview, nearby Davis Islands and Harbour Island.

Florida? Knot Again! 4 Days in Tampa (2016 New Years’ Vacation)
I had such a phenomenal time in Florida last summer (Montage: that my family and I went back again this Winter Break to the other side of the state – the Tampa Bay/St Petersburg Area! We honestly just wanted a family getaway for the end of the year, and this entire trip made the most of a limited budget. I’m always thankful for any opportunity to travel, and this very American “tropical” escape was reinvigorating – just what I needed to kick 2017 off right.
Highlights From Our Itinerary:
Friday, December 30:
• Arrival & Mini Golf at the beautiful Holiday Inn & Suites Clearwater. The view of the marina was gorgeous but it was pretty chilly!
• Clearwater Beach
• Dinner & Show at Columbia Restaurant (the Ybor Location) – possibly the most extraordinary & amazing dining experience of my life. The décor and service was fabulous, and the Flamenco dance performance was lively. Good vibes overall in the restaurant! And the FOOD - we ordered the delicious 1905 salad, which our waiter freshly prepared right in front of us; the warm Cuban bread, which was freshly baked in the oven right after we placed our orders and which my Dad remarked was the best bread he’d ever tasted in his life; and the paella and Cuban sandwich which were alright but not exceptional like the bread and salad. Overall an amazing experience and well worth the long drive to downtown Tampa!
Saturday, December 31:
• Walsingham State Park – hiked along the recreational trail, Heritage Village, and Botanical Garden
• Tampa Bay Water Bike Company!! Quite fun and especially nice at sunset (we went at 5pm)
• NHL Game – Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Carolina Hurricane at Amalie Arena
• Watching & Lighting our own fireworks on Clearwater Beach (we made sure we abided by Clearwater’s STRICT firework laws)
Sunday, January 1:
• NFL Game – Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Carolina Panthers at Raymond James Stadium. Was a big ‘ol American party with amazing energy & spirit. Unreal :)

Tampa, Florida - Traveling Robert
In this final installment of the Tampa Bay travel vlog we are going to visit Tampa proper over the course of three afternoons. We are attending the Florida Rv Supershow in the morning.
On the first day we stay in the car most of the time, just getting a little bit of the lay of the land. We drive on the street that claims to have the longest sidewalk in the world, Bayshore Boulevard. We also drive through Hyde Park, a historic district, home to the famous Bern’s Steakhouse. The southernmost point of our exploratory trip is Ballast Point Park, from where we get extraordinary views of downtown across the bay.
On our second day we have lunch at the oldest continuously operating restaurant in Florida. Also the oldest Spanish restaurant in the United States, and one of the largest in the wold. Its name is The Columbia. While we are in Ybor City we explore some of the historic sites and take a round trip on the TECO line street car to downtown.
On our third day, we eat at a trendy restaurant called Ulele, on the riverfront. We also explore downtown a little bit and the University of Tampa on the other side of the Hillsborough River. The Henry B. Plant Hall, is a historic building, formerly the legendary Tampa Bay Hotel. Nowadays it hosts the Henry B. Plant Museum as well as some of the University services.
Overall it was a great time. On our way out we bid farewell to one of Americas iconic roadside attractions, the Airstream ranch, which was demolished just a few days after our visit.

Water Works Park- Tampa
The City took a blighted industrial lot and restored it to it's 1920's splendor. Contaminated soil was removed, landscaping was designed around the newly re-flowing Ulele Spring, and the park was connected to the River Walk along the lower Hillsborough River. There is a giant dump bucket and splash pad for the children.

Tampa Bay is possibly one of the most ignored places in Florida by visitors. It is the state’s third largest city but people tend to think of visiting places like Orlando, Miami, Florida Keys or the beaches at places like Clearwater and St Petersburg. I was invited to Tampa to see if I thought travellers were missing out by not including the Tampa Bay area in any Florida trip. I found the city was very dynamic and had a lot going on. Surviving Hurricane Irma - The Aftermath (Tampa, FL)
A little ride around the day after Hurricane Irma ravaged through our state of Florida. Lucky for us the eye shifted to the east and stayed about 50 miles away from us, we still got hit by 90+ mph winds and lost a lot of trees in the area and were without power for over 30 hours, millions in florida are still without power. Stay safe and good luck to everyone else effected by this storm.
