Where To Go In Tampa For Nightlife

A nighttime attraction in Tampa is Ybor City. It is the most popular local nightlife venue. It is one of the six official districts located in Tampa proper. Night clubs are lined up on the 7th Avenue East of Ybor, each blaring music of its own.

The clubs in Ybor City frequently change names so you can't rely on names and addresses unless they were recently featured in the local newspaper. When going bar-hopping in Ybor City, it's best to let your ears guide you in choosing places to hangout in Tampa. Outdoor seating is common in 7th Avenue East so don't be surprised if you see people taking parties to the streets. This too can help you decide which clubs to spend a night in Tampa.

Fridays and Saturdays are the best nights to stroll 7th Avenue East. The street is packed with people during these days, especially young crowds. But there's enough energy in the avenue from Tuesdays til Thursdays and even Sundays. In Ybor City, nightlife in Tampa happens between 9 PM and 3 AM.

Centro Ybor is a unique destination around the 7th Avenue Street. It is a massive dining-and-entertainment complex with a good number of pubs and restaurants. If you want a wholesome nightlife in Tampa, this is a good place. Centro Ybor is all about clean fun and is perfect for families and people who want a relaxing night.

For a late-night rendezvous, check out Hyde Park. The area is full of restaurants buzzing with late night activities. Downtown Tampa is also becoming increasingly popular in the night scene. Fly Bar & Restaurant, Tapas Wine & Beer Merchants, Kelly's Pub, and the hip-hop Club Underground are all enticing destinations for enjoying the downtown area's Tampa nightlife.

For those who are into the performing arts, there are places you can go to in Tampa besides restaurants, clubs, and bars. One of the most popular destination for this kind of Tampa nightlife is the David Straz Jr. Center for Perfoming Arts. It is the largest performing arts venue in the city. Shows here include theatre, musical concerts, operas, and other special events.

The Tampa Theatre which dates back to 1926 is also an ideal place to enjoy the night scene in Tampa. Classic, foreign, and alternative films are regularly shown here. Special events are sometimes held in the Tampa Theatre. Plus, people say it's haunted!

Concerts are best watched in places like the USF Sun Dome and Raymond James Stadium. Rock bands, pop stars, jazz singers, and others usually perform live here. For more live music, Skipper's Smokehouse is one of the best places to visit in Tampa for nightlife. Soothing tunes like blues, jazz, and reggae are often played in Skipper's Smokehouse.

(11:13) Channelside District - an up-and-coming area with a lot of condos and lofts. Because it is so close to downtown Tampa it is going to experience a huge growth with the development over the next 10 years.

(14:25) Carrollwood - Primarily built in the 80's with the larger executive style homes. Very convenient location.

(15:08) Temple Terrace - primarily built in the 70's and 80's with smaller homes. It's where the University of South Florida is located.

(15:38) Westchase - An upscale area that is Close to the airport, shopping, and South Tampa.

(16:22) Citrus Park - Primarily built in the 80's with smaller homes

Tampa is a Gulf Coast Bay city in the U.S. state of Florida. It serves as the county seat for Hillsborough County. Tampa is located on the west coast of Florida. The population of Tampa in 2000 was 303,447. According to the 2009 estimates, the city's population had grown to 343,890, making it the 54th largest city in the United States.
The current location of Tampa was once inhabited by various indigenous cultures, most recently the Tocobaga. It was spotted by Spanish explorers in the early 16th century, but there were no permanent American or European settlements in the area until 1824, when the US Army established a frontier outpost called Fort Brooke at the site of today's Tampa Convention Center. The village of Tampa began as a small group of pioneers who settled near the fort for protection from the Seminole population in the area.
Today, Tampa is a part of the metropolitan area most commonly referred to as the Tampa Bay Area. For U.S. Census purposes, Tampa is part of the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Florida MSA. The four-county area is composed of roughly 2.7 million residents, making it the second largest metropolitan statistical area (MSA) in the state, and the fourth largest in the Southeastern United States, behind Miami, Washington, D.C., and Atlanta. The Greater Tampa Bay area has just over 4 million residents and generally includes the Tampa and Sarasota metro areas. The Tampa Bay Partnership and U.S. Census data showed an average annual growth of 2.47 percent, or a gain of approximately 97,000 residents per year. Between 2000 and 2006, the Greater Tampa Bay Market experienced a combined growth rate of 14.8 percent, growing from 3.4 million to 3.9 million and hitting the 4 million people mark on April 1, 2007.
Tampa has a number of sports teams, such as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL, the Tampa Bay Lightning in the National Hockey League, the Tampa Bay Rays in Major League Baseball, and the FC Tampa Bay Rowdies in North American Soccer League (2010).
In 2008, Tampa was ranked as the 5th best outdoor city by Forbes. A 2004 survey by the NYU newspaper Washington Square News ranked Tampa as a top city for twenty-somethings. Tampa is ranked as a high sufficiency world city by Loughborough University and is one category away from becoming a Gamma world city. According to Loughborough, Tampa now ranks alongside other world cities such as Phoenix, Cologne, and Osaka. In recent years Tampa has seen a notable upsurge in high-market demand from consumers, signaling more wealth concentrated in the area. Tampa has been tapped to host the 2012 Republican National Convention.

Tampa displays a wide variety of architectural designs and styles. Most of Tampa's high rises demonstrate Post-modern architecture. The design for the renovated Tampa Museum of Art, displays Post-modern architecture, while the city hall and the Tampa Theatre belong to Art Deco architecture. The Tampa mayor as of 2008, Pam Iorio, has made the redevelopment of Tampa's downtown, especially bringing in residents to the decidedly non-residential area, a priority. Several residential and mixed-development high-rises are in various stages of planning or construction, and a few have already opened. Another of Mayor Iorio's initiatives is the Tampa Riverwalk, a plan which intends to make better use of the land along the Hillsborough River in downtown where Tampa began. Several museums are part of the plan, including new homes for the Tampa Bay History Center, the Tampa Children's Museum, and the Tampa Museum of Art.
Tampa is the site of several skyscrapers. Overall, there are 18 completed buildings that rise over 250 feet (76 m) high. The city also has 69 high-rises, more than any other city in Florida after Miami. The tallest building in the city is 100 North Tampa, formerly the AmSouth Building, which rises 42 floors and 579 feet (176 m) in Downtown Tampa. The structure was completed in 1992, and is the tallest building in Florida outside of Miami and Jacksonville.

Schindler MT 300A @ AMC- WestShore Plaza- Tampa, Florida, United States

This is the very basic, but efficient Schindler elevator at WestShore Plaza in Tampa. It is likely the nicest in this mall. The parking elevators glitch a lot, and the JCP and Macy's elevators are slow. And the Dick's elevator is a 330A. This is nice. Interesting story- the escalator accompanying this elevator actually caught on fire just days after this was taken. Very strange.

Local Ballet Company, Tampa Ballet Theatre, and local Ballet Studio, Tampa Bay Ballet, have announced their involvement in Oldsmar’s Gold Star Mothers’ & Families’ Day Ceremony. The ceremony is to honor Florida families of the fallen and remembers the heroes of America. Tampa Ballet Theatre and Tampa Bay Ballet will be coming together to perform an original ballet piece to honor America’s fallen heroes and their families. This event is going took place at Veterans Memorial Park on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at 10:00 AM.
Tampa Ballet Theatre and Tampa Bay Ballet performed to an instrumental piece of “America the Beautiful”. This is an original piece choreographed by Artistic Director, Lindsay Clark.
“I really want to touch the hearts of the mothers’ and families with this piece,” states Lindsay Clark, Choreographer and Artistic Director of Tampa Ballet Theatre, “it’s going to be beautiful and it is such an honor to have been given the opportunity to give back to our community… I know my dancers are going to perform from their hearts and will be able to connect with everyone who is watching.”
Tampa Ballet Theatre is a non-profit professional ballet company in the Tampa Bay Area and has been since 2012. The mission of the Tampa Ballet Theatre is to educate, entertain, and broaden the outlook of the community through the world of classical and contemporary ballet. Tampa is a city on Tampa Bay, along Florida’s Gulf Coast. A major business center, it’s also known for its museums and other cultural offerings. Busch Gardens is an African-themed amusement park with thrill rides and animal-viewing areas. The historic Ybor City neighborhood, developed by Cuban and Spanish cigar-factory workers at the turn of the 20th century, is a dining and nightlife destination.

Tampa is divided into five main districts fanning out from Downtown in the south-center between the Hillsborough River and Ybor Channel. West Tampa, once a separate city, lies across the Hillsborough River to the west of Downtown. South Tampa, a large residential area, extends south along the Interbay Peninsula. Historic Ybor City (sometimes considered a part of downtown) lies on the northeast side of downtown. East Tampa, the historically African-American side of the city, lies north of Ybor City. North Tampa forms the urban/suburban sprawl north of Busch Boulevard. A significant suburban area, often considered a part of Tampa, extends many miles to the northwest, north, and east of the city.

On first glance it may seem sprawling and businesslike, but Tampa is also home to a bunch of museums, parks and ambitious restaurants, many of which have popped up recently and brought the city dangerously close to becoming stylish. In the heart of downtown, the revitalized Riverwalk along the Hillsborough River glitters with contemporary architecture and scenic green spaces. Plus, between the zoo, the aquarium, the children's museums and the theme parks, families have enough top-shelf entertainment to last a week. By evening Ybor City's streets transform into southwest Florida's hottest bar and nightclub scene.

The Tampa Bay area was visited by many Spanish explorers, beginning with Panfilo de Narvaez in 1528. However, no long term permanent settlements were created until 1824 when the US federal government created a reservation for north Florida Seminole Indians. At the same time, the US created Fort Brooke to oversee the reservation as well as protect the strategic harbor.

The sun of a new day -- a bright new dawn of hope and human rights brought about by the tireless struggle of farmworkers and their allies through the Campaign for Fair Food -- rose over the streets of Tampa on March 5th, 2011 as the Do the Right Thing Tour culminated in a huge, three-part march and a spectacular pageant of people and puppets. The pageant told the story of how decades of abuse and degradation in the fields is giving way today to hope for a future of fair wages and dignity -- only to be threatened by the opposition of Publix, which would plunge farmworkers back into the darkness of the Harvest of Shame... and of how the alliance of workers and consumers overcomes that opposition in the end.
