The Kitchen of Kitakyushu - Tanga Ichiba
Rode the monorail to Tanga Station and as I walked out of there, I discovered Tanga Ichiba, the Kitchen of Kitakyushu. This is a continuation of Uomachi Gintengai that houses over 200 shops selling fresh seafood and meat, as well as freshly cooked food ready to eat. I want to come back and do a gourmet tour of the entire place one day. Just gonna eat EVERYTHING.

Kitakyushu's Kitchen -- Tanga Market, in the Uomachi section of Kokurakita-ku. Its more than 200 shops include one operated by students at the University of Kitakyushu: Daigakudo.
Order their famous daigakudon, and you get a bowl of rice to take through the market buying whatever looks good to you to put on top. The result: your own original rice-based dish.
Our reporter, Natallia Shandrykava of Belarus, enjoyed getting to know the shopkeepers while completing her original daigakudon with various ingredients, including some that were new to her. Let's find out how Natallia’s special daigakudon tastes!
Japanese Street Food - Mutsugoro-yaki - Kitakyushu
Mutsugoro-yaki. Named after and shaped like the Mutsugoro mudskipper fish, this delicious treat is waiting for you in Kitakyushu. Mutsugoro-yaki is served at Shikishima, which is right to the left of the main entrance to Tanga Ichiba.
It is the same concept as Taiyaki but this is a Fukuoka treat. I wanna do a Mutsugoro-yaki challenge sometime. I can probably put down 10 in one go. ????
Someone from Kitakyushu asked me if I ever had Mutsugoro-yaki and I was like WHAT? So she suggested I go try it out the next time I'm in Kitakyushu. I am so glad I followed up on that recommendation. So I finally got to see the brand new Mojiko Station in Kitakyushu after it's grand opening on March 10th. It looks really nice. The plaza right in front is great. Now there is a place for people to gather and hang out.
I love Kitakyushu.

ช่วงเช้าเราไปปั่นจักรยานออกกำลังกายมาแล้ว ช่วงบ่ายต้องหลบฝนค่ะ เพราะพยากรณ์อากาศบอกว่าจะมีฝนตก เราเลยจะไปเดินเที่ยวคิตะคิวชู นั่งรถไฟไปประมาณ 45 นาที เราลงสถานี Kokura ซึ่งเป็นเสมือนศูนย์กลางของคิตะคิวชูเลย เพราะรวมเอาห้าง ตลาด และอื่นๆ เอาไว้ที่สถานีนี้ ออกมาจากสถานีแล้วเราก็เดินไปตลาด Tanga ที่เค้าบอกว่าได้รับการอนุรักษ์ไว้เป็นตลาดเก่า อายุราว 100 ปีเลย เดินเบ้าไป ของที่ขายหลักๆก็คือ ของกินค่ะ ของสดๆน่ากินๆ ใครมาก็ต้องชอบแน่นอน ตลาดไม่ใหญ่ค่ะ เดินแป้บเดียวก็ทั่วแล้ว เราได้เชอรี่ญี่ปุ่นจากที่นี่ด้วย ซื้อจากร้านที่ขายราคาถูกที่สุดค่ะ แต่ว่าเจอของหลอกลวงอ่ะ ข้างในมีแต่ลูกที่ราขึ้นเต็มไปหมด นึกไม่ถึงเลยว่าที่ญี่ปุ่นมีแบบนี้ด้วย ได้ของกินแล้วเราก็มานั่งกินกันที่ริมน้ำใกล้ๆปราสาท Kokura พอฝนเริ่มลงเม็ดเราก็กินเสร็จพอดี เลยเข้าไปหลบฝนที่ห้างสรรพสินค้าใกล้ๆ พอฝนหยุดตกเราก็ไปสถานี Mojiko กันต่อ เป็นสถานีที่สวยมาก ดูคลาสสิคสุดๆ ออกมาเดินเล่นชมบรรยากาศยามเย็นกันครู่นึงก็กลับไป Hakata เพราะเดี๋ยวจะดึกเกินไป วันต่อไปเราต้องตื่นแต่เช้า มาถึงโรงแรมที่ Hakata รีวิวห้องให้ดูนิดนึงด้วย เป็นห้องที่กว้างเกินราคาที่จ่ายไป คือดีย์
After we did exercise by cycling in the morning, this afternoon we will go to Kitakyushu. We took Sonic 31 train from Kashii station to Kokura after that we walked to the Tanga market, the market that they claimed that it's exit here more than 100 years. Once we arrived the market, most of the shops here are selling food which is good. We haven't eat any proper lunch yet so we bought the food from here. We also found the Japanese cherry. I thought that the cherry season was over but we bought it here and it was a very good price but we found that there were many of them were mold. I was so chock because I've never thought that I will face kind of this situation in Japan. But it wasn't that bad if compared with how much we paid for it.
After we finished our lunch, we walked around a bit to see the port view and went to ARU ARU city too. ARU ARU mall is behind the station. This mall is all about animation and game. Unfortunately most of them are not allow to take any photo or video.
Before we go back to Hakata, we went to Mojiko station where is the station looks so cool. And the time we were arrive there was perfect. The lights was turned on made this place became my favorite place in this trip. We spent only 1 hour here.
At the end of this video I also did the hotel room tour. The Hotel Century art Hakata. The room quite big and not too expensive. Most important thing is this hotel is very near to Hakata station.
Best Sushi ever!! Kitakyushu & Shimonoseki | Slurp In Japan | Ep. 4| Yael & Roy's Mania | Japan Vlog
I'm heading to Yamaguchi city, but before getting there, I decided to stay for a night in Kitakyushu and then head to Shimonoseki. Both towns are very close to each other but located in a different prefecture, and on the separate islands in Japan.
Kitakyushu is located in Fukuoka Prefecture on Kyūshū Island.
Shimonoseki is located in Yamaguchi prefecture on Honshu Island.
The distance between the two cities is only a few kilometers, divided by a stream between the eastern sea of Japan to the west sea of Japan. The landscape of the two cities is impressive.
When i arrived at Kitakyushu, I decided to walk around a bit. The area surrounding the central station is very lively, beautiful, full with restaurants, and very active with a vibrant nightlife. Also, you can visit Tanga market, Kokura castle and Kokurakita ward.

I woke up early & took the train to Shimonoseki to visit Karato market, which is a fish market that sells fresh fish from the sea every morning. I heard that every Sunday and Saturday morning you can also buy fresh Sushi! So I had to check it out.
Karato market located around 2Km from Shimonoseki station. It's a bit of a walk, but, the way is along the bay, and the view is amazing. If you don't mind walking, just do it, you won't be disappointed.
The fish market opens up early in the morning, but the sushi stands starts at 9:30. At that time precisely, every sushi stand owner rings a bell to announce it's open for business.
The concept of getting sushi there is simple. You choose where to buy your sushi, stand in line, select your desired sushis, go outside to the dock, and eat while looking at the amazing view.
And as far as the sushi -
All I'm going to say is that there are only a few life-changing moments a person can have while eating something new. I ate plenty of sushi in my life, but I never tasted such a fresh, so delicious, complex yet simple, tender, and full of flavors sushi. I did not expect that at all. One of the best meals I have ever had.
Sushi will never be the same for me again.

Yo check this out! I saw these Cheese Manju on Instagram and I had to try them out, since I was still in Tanga Ichiba. Aozorado in Tanga Ichiba has got you on these Cheese Manju. It looks like the Cheese Manju was originated in Miyazaki but Aozorado has brought them to Kitakyushu.
Are you looking for the best things to eat in Kitakyushu? Kitakyushu has the best food in all of Japan. With a ton of Kitakyushu original dishes as well as stuff from elsewhere in Japan, why go anywhere else? It's all right here!
But you do need to have a sense of adventure to try things out you've never done before. Stay away from the chain restaurants as much as you can, because these local shops have got massive flavor.

Shiroya Sunny Pan is still the best bread in Japan.
Shiroya Sunny pan is still the best bread in Japan. For only 90 yen your face can be blasted with flavor. Take a french bread roll and inject condensed milk into it. One of my favorite things to eat in Kitakyushu. I ate the Sunny Pan in front of Yukuhashi Station because I was going to meet some friends there anyway.

I prepared 8 things to know if you go to Kitakyushu for 2 days. Let me introduce the first restaurant in Kitakyushu in Japan.
Walking around Kitakyushu
Right there on Chugin Dori is Nyan Nyan, Kokura's famous Chinese Restaurant. They didn't have any gyoza so I didn't go in but we have re-visited this place in a future episode. Went to Ichiran instead. I think I am good on Ichiran. Way better ramen out there. Saw my boy Captain Harlock and then went to Mojiko Retro for a little bit. Mojiko Retro is home to Yaki Curry (baked curry), the best form of curry on this planet. Kitakyushu is the best city in all of Japan.
