Elegant OTIS High-Rise Traction Elevators - Grand Pequot Tower at Foxwoods - Mashantucket, CT
(Recorded August 2015) Last but not least (the last for Foxwoods related elevator uploads), I managed to get a hotel tower elevator video. The tower of choice here is the Grand Pequot tower (the one in the middle of the complex). Here we have a bank of 9 traction elevators in the Grand Pequot tower at Foxwoods (for the sake of time, I only took one round trip on two ). Three of the 9 elevators serve the top two floors, which are a restaurant and casino*.
They are very fast, and smooth. Additionally, the cabs are very nice (even if I didn't get the chance to show too much of them). The elevators themselves utilize OTIS Luxury lanterns/fixtures on the exterior, with Series 2 on the inside. Interestingly enough, take note of the indicators in the elevators themselves. Almost reminiscent of the Vacuum Tube indicators, notably from Westinghouse in the early 1980's.
Do take note of the floor assignments; the floor numbers are actually bumped ahead by six floors! This means even though I was on the 25th floor, I was actually only 19 stories up! I believe this is to accommodate for the room numbering in the original two hotel towers, the other one being Grand Cedar (attempted those, too busy). While GC's rooms are numbered 1-8, this tower's rooms are numbered 9-25. I believe this trick is done to keep easier track of the rooms. Although I thought I broke a record in terms of height, the Marriott Hartford still holds that title. However, 25 is the highest numbered floor I have been on so far. This is the third tallest building I have gone up and filmed (231.75ft).

LOCATION INFO:
The Grand Pequot tower was opened in 1997, as part of a series of expansions to the ever growing Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Mashantucket, CT (a reservation within Ledyard, CT). Since it was built, it has been the flagship tower for the casino, commonly appearing in advertising, etc. Foxwoods is the second largest casino in the United States. Originally opened in 1986 as a simple bingo hall, the complex has grown. First with the Grand Cedar portion (1992), then the Grand Pequot (1997), then Rainmaker (2004), The Fox Tower (opened as MGM Grand in 2008, renamed Fox Tower in 2013), and finally, the Tanger Outlets in 2015. There's quite a bit of elevators in this mighty complex, so I didn't get to them all in one visit. This may take multiple visits to do, every so often.

***DISCLAIMER: DO NOT try to gain unauthorized access to these elevators. Although these are hotel elevators, there are a couple of public levels that are accessible from these elevators, making these public elevators, which I then consider public elevators. Additionally, the casino area I walked out on is simply the elevator lobby adjacent to it, not the actual casino. Therefore, I believe I wasn't breaking any rules here. To stay on the safe side, I do recommend that you do go to the restaurant level below on 24. Additionally, in respect, I only limited myself to two round trips on these.

NEW Smaller OTIS Gen2 MRL Traction Elevators - Tanger Outlets at Foxwoods (North) - Mashantucket, CT
*As of 11/29/16 (updated again on 8/15/17 to reflect M2), there has been a lot of speculation that the newer Series 7 styled fixtures are really a revision of Series 4. As such, I have updated the information in the description to reflect this. In the description, I still refer to Series 7, as a enthusiast given nickname to the new revision of the fixture lineup.
I'm a little late with this one, but here it is!
Within this new expansion, there's another set of Series 7 (really a revision of Series 4) elevators lurking around. This time around, they're a little smaller, and on the Fox Tower side of the complex. Like the other bank, these were pretty smooth, and fast at the same time. The Series 7 also complements the modern feel of this elevator as well.
Like the Grand Pequot (south) side of the shopping center, there's two elevators within the bank. Why these are smaller than the two on that side, I am not sure. You would think that they would have made them the same size, at least for potential freight transport from the second floor down to the first floor, and vice-versa.
These two elevators happen to be towards the Fox Tower side of the complex, which is more northwards. The elevators here serve the first and second floors of the shopping complex, while the other bank serve the second and third floors. Considering this place is built on a hill, it is on a stepped setup. There is an entrance on the 1st floor, which leads people up to a second floor (which is the main floor as it has the most stores), and finally, leads people up to a 3rd floor. It's a little difficult to explain in text, so I'll give you the link to the directory so you can see.:
LOCATION INFO:
Opened on May 21, 2015, the Tanger Outlets at Foxwoods is the newest part of the ever-expanding Foxwoods casino and resort complex. Although there are various stores already throughout the Foxwoods complex, this is a nice addition with more name-brand shops to choose from. This also marks the second Tanger location in Connecticut, the other is the Westbrook Tanger Outlets. Interestingly enough, I believe this is the NEWEST enclosed mall to open in Connecticut, the most recent before that was Brass Mill Center in 1997.

Discover New England and Connecticut with Roisin Carbery from American Sky
Discover New England and Connecticut with Roisin Carbery from American Sky. Watch and learn more about England and Connecticut with Roisin Carberry from American Sky.
- Hi I'm Roisin from American Sky and we flew in to Bradley International 3 days ago. It's been a whirlwind of a trip, a star show of stay in Simsbury Inn and then we continued on to Mystic and then we finished up in West Haven. I would describe Bradley as the new gateway for New England. It's an easier airport to get in and out of. It's a great starting point for not just Connecticut, all the 6 states, but I would pay particular attention to Connecticut this time. The history of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe was an eyeopener. You could see where the 225 million went on the museum and the shopping at Tanger Outlet was really good as well. I loved Mystic, absolutely loved it. I think I've seen the film Mystic Pizza 30 years ago, didn't think I'd get to go see it for real. I loved going to visit Yale in New Haven. New Haven's a lovely city also. I loved West Hartford, steeped in history also, it just goes on an on. There's too much to see in 3 nights. A high end hotel would definitely have to be the Delamar and then top of my list would be the Homestead in Madison. I absolutely loved it. The people are wonderful. You get a countryside feel, but if feels like time gone by. You don't have many people saying that they don't lock the doors like they do in Madison, which is so unheard of, especially at home. Food, it has everything from Barack Obama's personal sushi chef to the first place where a hamburger was created to amazing seafood, as we're on the coast, everything and anything. It's known or described as a spectacular fall foliage for a reason and until you get here, it's just the vibrancy of the colors when you're driving by, and all the mixtures of the golds, yellows, and purples, and it's just beautiful. I think Connecticut is very underrated. It's not just a stopgap to fly into Bradley and go to New York by train, which has been promoted to us for some reason, which I don't know why. I think Connecticut is its own state with plenty to offer itself, but if to take in 2 weeks, you could take in all the rest of New England as well and Bradley is the best gateway to do that quickly and is a great base.
