tanglang la Pass famed as the second highest mountain pass in leh ladakh region. It is located at an altitude of around 17000 ft, on the leh - manali highway. The distance from leh to tanglang la pass is around 108 km and approximately it takes 3-4 hrs, depends on the road condition. The oxygen supply is quite less here due to high altitude. After crossing tanglang la Pass, you will experience the most mysterious attraction existing on the leh-manali Highway is Gata Loops.

Tanglang La Pass on Manali Leh Highway

Tanglang La/Taglang La, elevation 5,328 metres (17,480 ft), is a high mountain pass in Ladakh region of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. As of August 2014, the Leh-Manali highway leading south from Upshi to Taglang La is paved, with the exception of a very short (approx 500m) unpaved section just north of the pass. The pass itself is paved.
The elevation in metres, which is taken from a local sign, is in agreement with SRTM data. The sign claims 17,582 feet, which would be 5,359 metres, and incorrectly claims to be the world’s second highest motorable pass.
Ascending & Descending Tanglangla Pass-Manali to Leh, India
TanglangLa Pass is claimed to be the second highest motorable mountain pass in the world, altitude abt (17,552 ft). The ascent is relatively short since one is already at a high altitude at Moorey Plains. The view from the pass is amazing, with beautiful conical mountain peaks on the left and many more summits away in the distance.

Hey guys,
This is day 3 of our Leh-Ladakh journey from Sarchu to Leh.
It was a very long ride. We came across Gata Loops (the 21 turns) & Tanglang la , one of the most beautiful passes of this journey. Further More plains was the best road of the whole trip. At the end of the day we reached leh by 8.00 pm .There is some footage of Bonfire at the end.

Sometimes its fun to fall down at 17000ft to the sea level...
After Tanglang LA.... snowfall was less but helmet was full of fog and my partner got skid, I was singing loud and drinking water....
Got no time to turn and applied break immediately.... thank god because of gears we were safe without even a scratch.
TANGLANG LA | The second highest road in the world | Ladakh India
If you love adventure and long distance road trips then it would be an irony if you do know about Leh Manali Highway of India which is quiet famous all over the world for highest mountain passes, tough terrains and unpredictable harsh weather.
Tanglang La is the first mountain pass one encounter while coming from Leh towards Manali which also happen to be second highest road in the world as claimed by BRO.
This pass offers some super smooth roads clubbed with matchless amazing vistas and harsh weather conditions with very less oxygen levels.
If you are an adventurer of any sort then you just can not miss planning a road trip including Tanglang La at least once in your life time as cameras can't record what eves sees and heart feels!
