Paper Dome Aids Earthquake Victims
The Paper Dome in Puli Township, Nantou County, is holding a charity sale of ecological picture books describing the Taomi Village area, with all the proceeds to be donated to Japanese earthquake victims. It will also hold a blessings ceremony. The Puli Paper Dome originated with the 1995 Kobe earthquake when a Japanese architect constructed a temporary hall made of paper after a church was destroyed. In 2005, the paper church was donated to Taiwan and it was reconstructed in Puli, the site of the 921 earthquake. Now the Paper Dome is once again a testimony to Taiwan and Japan’s spirit of friendship and mutual support.
Paper church
A 3-story white building is especially eye-catching in the middle of the field of Nantou Countys Puli Tao Mi Eco-village. Pushing through the opaque glass door, you find yourself inside a church. The round white pillars support the oval roof. The seats in the church are round pillars that are made of paper. All of the pillars were made in a partnership between Puli and a Japanese paper mill.
The worlds only paper church allows for people to develop a new way of thinking about the earth. In addition, it offers a chance for more people to know the special paper manufacturing industry of Puli.

【開場物語】 Our Beginning!
紙寮坑藝術農工場 Paper Hut Stream Artlabors' Farm
理念 ::
紙寮坑藝術農工場位於埔里的桃米坑，往日月潭的台21線上，順著桃米溪的七條源頭之一，流經工場的就是紙寮坑溪。此地處山坳，是休耕近20年的水稻田，現還有前人堆砌石塊留下的痕跡，再往裡邊便是無人開發的原始叢林。
為保持土地與水質乾淨，我們不用化學清潔劑、農藥、除草劑…等，讓一切廚餘、排泄重新回到自然的循環中，同時也從城市中蒐集剩餘資源，任何在城市中被丟棄的物資，不論是淘汰的大門、桌椅、少用的電器…等在紙寮坑藝術農工場都有機會被派上用場。
我們於2015年春天對外開放正式營業，附近有著著名景點桃米坑生態村、紙教堂…等，常是遊客駐留的地方，目前以經營客棧與餐廳為主，也嘗試往集體生活工作場的方向邁進，未來將往藝術村的方式繼續耕耘，開放任何形式的勞動/藝術/實驗工作者進駐園區，也持續歡迎有意願想與我們一同工作的朋友們自我推薦，加入園區建設與經營行列！
Paper Hut Stream artlabor farm is located at Taomi, Puli Township, Nantou County. On the Taiwan-Provincial-Highway No.21 to Sun Moon Lake, along one of the seven Taomi stream is where Paper Hut creek lie aside the farm. Before years of fallow, the valley was a paddy field. You could find the trace of cairn stacked by previous land users. And if you go deeper into the valley there is a virgin forest waiting for explore.
We do not use any chemicals or pesticide here in order to maintain a healthy land and water source, we recycled everything from leftovers to faeces. We also scavenge whatever we could use from city. Whether it is worn door, desk chairs, or electronics that barely used, all will be put into good use in the art labor farm.
We are officially in business this spring (2015). Tourists' spots include Taomi community, Paper Dome and more. Right now we serve as an B&B and restaurant, at the same time we are undergoing a transition into a collective living farm. In the future, we hope to build an artist in residence community, a place for any kind of worker/artist/experimentalist to come. We welcome you to recommend whoever you think might be interested in the same direction to us, let's do it together!
