South Korea: Maisan Mountain (Jinan-Gun) in Jinan
Maisan Provincial Park is located in Jinan-gun, Jeollabuk-do and has names that vary depending on the season. In spring, it's called Dotdaebong, in summer, Yonggakbong, in autumn, Maibong, and in winter, Munpilbong.
There are two main lines that lead to Mount Maisan, which are located on the south and north sides. The southern course is very popular, featuring many stone pagodas from Tapsa Temple. The temple has around 80 high-stone pagodas that do not sway no matter how strong the wind blows. Another attraction of the mountain is the Eunsusa Temple, where Raja Taejo stops to give a 100-day prayer during his trip to Seongsusan Mountain.
Maisan Provincial Park is also known as a recreation area, with many hiking courses. In particular, there are 3 km long cherry blossom tunnels that stretch from the entrance which bloom every year in mid-April. The cherry blossom tunnel serves as the venue for Jinan's annual Cherry Blossom Festival, with interesting performances and beautiful attractions.

Maisan Hiking Trip - Jinan, South Korea
What better way to bring in spring than by hiking to the top of a mountain? While we ended up surrounded by snow anyways, it was a great way to enjoy the warmer weather! Maisan (or Horse Ears mountain) is a nice easy hike located in Jinan, South Korea. There are a couple different trails varying in difficulty. But the real show stopper is Tapsa Temple between the two mountains. Filled with over 80 stone pagodas, the temple is unique and gorgeous! If you are in Jeollabuk-do and looking for a way to get outside for a bit, we highly recommend both Maisan and Tapsa! How are you enjoying the start of spring?

Mai San is located about 3 hours away from Seoul. If you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing place in South Korea, you should take the bus and visit Jinan, in Jeollabuk-do.

Monday was the first day of summer vacation for me and most of my friends, so we decided to go visit some places we had never been! We visited a temple in Maisan Provincial Park, had a picnic on a mysteriously cold mountain in Jinan, and ended the day eating dinner and walking around a beautiful park in Jeonju! Jiahm wasn't with us in this vlog because his vacation didn't start until the next day!

Tapsa (Pagoda Temple) and the Stone Pagodas of Mount Mai is a small Korean Buddhist Temple complex found in the Maisan (Horse Ear Mountain) in Jinan County, North Jeolla Province, South Korea.
In 1885 a lone Buddhist hermit layman Yi Gap Yong (1860–1957), at the age 25, came to Maisan to meditate and cultivate himself. Over the next 30 years Yi Gap Yong constructed, single handed, as many as 120 conical natural stone pagodas, all without mortar.
Yi Gap Yong constructed the stone pagodas here incorporating the eight progressive positions of Zhuge Liang. Using this method, stones are first laid in a circular configuration before placing additional stones inside this circle. More stones are then placed in position to form a conical pyramid.
This structure is next topped off with a flat-shaped stone. To complete the pagoda another flat stone, in a yin and yang order, is added over and over until the desired shape and height of the tower is achieved.
Small pebbles are placed in the gaps between the larger stones to make the tower more stable.
Yi Gap Yong piled all of the stones, one by one, without the aid of mechanical devices or assistance. The stones for the smaller pagodas were all obtained locally but many for the larger pagodas, which can reach as high as 9m/30 ft, were gathered from the streams, rivers and mountains throughout Korea to assure their harmony with their spiritual energy.

[TV ZONE] The Beauty of Baekje Awoken from its Sleep : Royal Tomb of King Muryeong
A surprising discovery was made in Gongju, Chungcheongnam-do on July 8, 1971. From the tomb, several important national treasures were excavated, and moreover, it was the first ancient tomb that has been positively identified among the royal tombs from the Three Kingdoms Period in Korea. Baekje's 25th King Muryeong and his Queen were resting in this royal tomb. It was a moment that Baekje's splendid culture was finally awoken nearly 1,500 years later. What's more surprising was that the intricacy and aesthetical design of metal artifacts excavated from the tomb were so superb that they did not look like they were made 1,500 years ago. At the Royal Tomb of King Muryeong, visitors will be able to witness the god-given abilities of Baekje's artisans who were so skillful in dealing with metals, as well as Baekje's excellence in science and art.

Beopjusa Temple, South Korea
This is a video of my trip to South Korea I did in August 2012. Beopjusa (법주사) is a head temple of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism. It is situated on the slopes of Songnisan in Naesongni-myeon, Boeun County, in the province of Chungcheongbuk-do, South Korea. It was initially constructed in 653 by Silla monk Uisin. It has been historically associated with Beopsang thought and the worship of the Maitreya Buddha.

Maisan is one of the most unique mountains in the nation.
Maisan is a mountain located in Jinan-gun, Jeollabuk-do, and is said to have been created by tectonic movements during the Cretaceous Period in the later Mesozoic Era.
It was given its name because of its strange appearance in which it looks like a blade pointing upwards. In the Silla Dynasty it was called Seodasan, in the Goryeo Dynasty it was called Yungchulsan, and in the early Joseon Dynasty it was called Sokgeumsan. Finally, during the reign of King Taejong of the Joseon Dynasty, it was called 'Maisan' because it was said to look like the ear of a horse.
Like its unique appearance, there are also many attractions near Maisan. To the south is where Taffoni is the most developed in the world, in which there are holes that look as if they were made by bombing. Below it at the Tapsa Temple, there are over 80 stone pagodas, which are said to have been built by one person for over thirty years through his religious beliefs.

Mt. Ma-i Tapsa Temple is located in the 40km east of Jeonju City(全州市),
Jeon-la-buk-do. The mountain is very famous for its unique rocky structure.
The name of Mt. Ma-i is famous for two top hills' shape's resemblence to horse' ears.
The two top hills are composed of Male and Female Hill.
The Male Hill is located in the east and its height is 667m,
and the Female Hill is in the west with its height of 673m.
The Ma-i Temple in these hills is a very mysterious temple.
