Taqah Castle, Salalah, Oman
Taqah Castle was built in the 19th century. This makes it a relatively new castle in comparison to forts and castles found in the north of Oman, such as the forts in Nizwa, Bahla, and Nakhal, which are hundreds, if not thousands, years old. Taqah Castle is also different from other landmark castles in Oman in the fact that it used to be a private residence for a tribal leader, Sheikh Ali bin Taman Al Ma’shani – the grandfather of the mother of Sultan Qaboos. Taqah Castle became the property of the government in the first half of the 20th century during the times of Sultan Said bin Taimur, the father of Sultan Qaboos. During the 1960s the castle was expanded by adding the outer wall and its four towers. The castle was more recently renovated during the times of Sultan Qaboos and reopened as a museum in 1994. - source of google ;)

Perhaps the most famous castle in Salalah, Taqah Castle is wonderfully restored and gives great insight into royal life for generations past. The castle sits below Taqah Fort, which watches over it from a nearby hilltop. Guided tours are available for visitors.

Today I am sharing the historical place in Taqah, Oman. This is a archaeology site visit to Taqah Castle. Please watch fully and enjoy the memories of history.
Total distance: totally 35km from east salalah
Timing to visit:
Saturday to Thursday: morning 9am to evening 4pm.
Friday: morning 8am to 11am.
Tickets price:
For Adult: 500 baiza (per person)
For children (6 to 12 years): 200 (per person)
Short points of the Taqah Castle:
Taqah Castle was built in the 19th century. Taqah castle is also different from other landmark castles in Oman in the fact that it used to be a private residence for a tribal leader,Sheikh Ali bin Taman Al Ma'shani the grandfather of the mother of Sultan Qaboos. Sultan Qaboos reopened as a museum in 1994. The small taqah castle was used as a office and residence of the wali of taqah until 1970. The upper floor of the castle has the watchtowers and the family quarters of the wali (governor). The rooms of the castle are now used to display numerous exhibits such as weapons and cookware.
Taqah Castle is worth visiting if you are coming to dhofar. It is nice and compact and showcases a lot of exhibits illustrating the old Imani way of life. Taqah Castle is located in the heart of taqah city.

TAQAH CASTLE Discover the unknown
Taqah castle is located 33kms away from main city of Salalah. Built in 19th century as a privated residence of Sheikh Ali bin Taman Al Ma’shani. It was Wali's office and residence during the year 1970. Thereafter it has been transformed into museum exhibiting weapons and cookware used during those times.
Entry fee is 500 baiza for adults and 200 baiza for children (6 to 12 years)
Timing:
Saturday to Thursday : 9am to 4pm
Friday: 8 am to 11 am
