Shaskeen Reel in Concert - Taranaki Cathedral Church of St Mary
Recorded Fri 17 Sept 2010
Taranaki Cathedral (mini tour)
Just a quick stroll around the Cathedral, featureing some thoughts on the moving of the military hatchments.
The hatchements will be kept, we're moving them where they can still be seen and understood properly and respectfully. Whilst at the same time taking them out of the main worship space. There are loads of different points of view, both for and agasint the moving of these hatchments, in the end, I think that the Cathedral leadership team has made a very prayerful and careful decision.

Thank you to the Dean, Jamie Allen, for his 'Yeeeaaah, totes!' approval for filming!

Anna Brown's farewell at Taranaki Cathedral
Anna Brown's farewell at the beautiful Taranaki Cathedral Church of St Mary. Many thanks to Mark Bellringer of DigitalStory for recording the event. Mark is among the countless fans of Anna and did an amazing job. This post is for those here and overseas, who were unable to attend. Due to copyright issues, most of the music played during the service has been removed, hence the silent sections.
Taranaki Cathedral - Faith Crew
Faith Crew is the name of our children's group which meets every Sunday, all year round, during church, even during the holidays. It is for children from kindy age up. Most Sundays we meet in church and go out to do our own activities and games after the first hymn. Parents are welcome to stay if their child feels shy. We come back in time to join in with Communion, the bread and wine.

Extreme Weather Taranaki reports..Unusually foggy right on the coast. New Plymouth New Zealand.
Being right on the coast, we don't often get fog like this. My first 'go' at a proper video/voice report. It was just a bit of fun really. The media picked up on it and the video was used for a national weather story.
Restoration project launched for NZ's oldest stone church
New Zealand's oldest stone church - St Mary's in New Plymouth - is considered one good shake away from becoming a pile of rubble.

WEDDING VIDEO SAMPLE St Mary's New Plymouth Wedding
St Mary's is a beautiful historic church in New Plymouth & it made a wonderful setting for these guys to married in.
Despite the unseasonal weather we had a great photoshoot out at Lake Mangamahoe ... the whole Bridal party were great about climbing in trees & sitting on the damp ground.
As for the couple themselves they were so cool ... just really happy & excited about getting married.
It was a fun day all round.

New Plymouth Aerodrome in the late 1940s
After a brief spell in a Taranaki cowshed you'll have a brief glimpse of the aerodrome at New Plymouth. This would have been sometime in the late 1940s. I can be seen as a small child. I have no memory of the occasion unfortunately. My father, Bill Reesby, belonged to the New Plymouth Aero Club between 1946 and 1953, but died in 1955. Now, of course, I wish I'd asked my mother more about it when she was alive.
After a quick look at a swimming pool (I've no idea where, when and why he took this) the clip ends with a shot of him and another man at the Mt Stewart memorial between Palmerston North and Sanson - Bill's the one with the cigarette in his hand..

Taranaki Rescue Helicopter Open Day
We had a great day today at the Taranaki Rescue Helicopter Open Day! Thanks to everyone that came and said hello :)
This year Surf Life Saving New Zealand and BP are celebrating a massive 50 years of partnership! To mark the anniversary, BP is launching a campaign called ‘Every Litre Counts’ to get Kiwis supporting Surf Life Saving more than ever this summer.
From Monday January 22 until Sunday February 18, BP will make a donation to SLSNZ from every litre of fuel sold in New Zealand. So what are you waiting for? Spread the good word and fuel up between the flags!
As part of this partnership, BP fund a high performance leadership course - Leaders for Life. This course is aimed to training the next generation of SLSNZ leaders. Opunake is proud to have our own club captain, Brook Smith, on this years Leaders for Life course. Brook is seen here using his new skills to network with other rescue services so that we can provide a better service to our community.
Thank you BP for helping future proof SLSNZ!
