2009 Lions Club Manawatu Gorge Track and Tunnel Walk New Zealand
Slideshow of scenery and truck pictures taken from the railway line on the 2009 Lions Club Manawatu Gorge Track and Tunnel Walk New Zealand. The only walk of its kind in New Zealand and a rare chance to see this major arterial route from a different perspective. Tunnel and trucks pics are more towards the end. Held approx April each year contact the Tararua i-site info centre for more info. The walk is about 8km and took about 2hr 15min including time to stop for photos.

Palmerston North
Palmerston North (Māori: Te Papaioea or transliterated Māori: Pamutana), commonly referred to by locals as Palmerston, or colloquially Palmy, is the main city of the Manawatu-Wanganui region of the North Island of New Zealand.
The city is inland, located in the eastern Manawatu Plains, near the north bank of the Manawatu River. The city is 35 km (22 mi) from the river's mouth and 12 km (7 mi) from the end of the Manawatu Gorge. It is about 140 km (87 mi) north of the capital, Wellington.
