TARR STEPS EXMOOR NATIONAL PARK SOMERSET
TARR STEPS EXMOOR NATIONAL PARK SOMERSET
Quick video showing Tarr Steps in Exmoor, Somerset. Such a beautiful place to visit. The car park was £3.00 and for all day. The river might be great for a 4 x 4 to cross but I wouldn't risk it in my car. There is Salmon which can be seen further up the river. This is a perfect picnic place. Unfortunately, I ran out of battery as was filming all day at other locations too.
This will be added to my blog on places to visit in Exmoor. I would love to connect with you. My blog is

Exmoor Walks | A Walk From Withypool to Tarr Steps
Beginning in the Barle Valley on Exmoor National Park, Abbie heads up to the top of Withypool Hill in search of an ancient stone circle, before working her way to the famous Tarr Steps clapper bridge along the Exe Valley Way. This is a walk loved by many and it is easy to see why, with the route passing through exposed moorland, rich Exmoor farmland, and blissful ancient forest carpeted with bluebells.

Exmoor National Park in Somerset and North Devon is a great place for English countryside and coastal views. This is the last lag of our UK road trip travel series before going to Turkey. We take the Bossington walk near Minehead to see breathtaking views of the South West England and check out a part of the South West Coastal Path, Englands longest path. We go to search for some UK nature and found a slow worm.

Our time spent battling depression has influenced our outlook on life dramatically! We are now traveling the world in search of what makes us happy. In our vlogs, we talk openly and honestly about our travel experiences, the digital nomad life and depression. We hope our videos can help to inspire you to create a life that makes you happy!

Tarr Steps
The Tarr Steps is an ancient Clapper Bridge located on Exmoor National Park in Somerset. Legend has it that this clapper bridge was built by the devil and that the devil said that he would kill anyone who tried to cross. Curious, the local people sent a cat over the clapper bridge to see what happened. The cat vaporised right in front of them. The locals then sent the local parson to cross the bridge to meet the devil. Half way across the devil appeared. The parson stood his ground, even though he was being sworn and shouted at by the devil. The devil eventually gave up and allowed people to cross the bridge, unless he chooses to sunbathe which remains to this day.
Tarr Steps is the longest clapper bridge in Britain and is 17 spans. The first time the Tarr Steps was mentioned was in Tudor Times but it is thought to be a lot older than this. None of the stones of the clapper bridge which crosses the River Barle are cemented together. They are all loose and is a great example of early engineering. Due to them not being cemented together, the Tarr Steps has had to be repaired a number of times due to being damaged when the river is high.
