I remember staying up at night coming up with valid points to use when I try to convince my parents to let me go for trekking.
Once I did my first trek, It took me 2 more years to somehow manage to get to Kashmir and finally explore the place I always dreamed about.
But it wasn't that easy, after I came up with the (not so) perfect plan, I decided to somehow convince my parents that I'll be going to Leh, and then secretly go to Kashmir, which failed miserably as they got to know about it while I was all set to leave from Manali.
But I didn't give up so easily, the next day I sat with them for three hours straight, convincing them and a little fake crying ( I'm full star plus material), I finally succeeded and flew to Srinagar in September of 2017!
That was back in 2015.
Now, 4 years later since I first started dreaming about it, and two years since I started obsessing over the thought of climbing the trails in Kashmir,
as I finally climbed up to the Tarsar lake, got the first glimpse and saw it half frozen, reflecting the blue color of the sky and having the whole place to ourselves, it was way too overwhelming.
I quickly took all the shots I wanted to, got done with all that, ate some cherries and decided to sit at the lake for an hour, which ended up being two, of course.
And as I found my spot on one of the rocks and decided to lie down staring at the Kolahi peak in the distance, I just replayed every single time I fought, dreamed and wanted nothing but just to be there, be it just for five minutes.
And as I'm writing this sitting here in Gurez, after what was an adventurous day, yet again, I just can't picture myself leaving this place.
I'll have to soon, for I came just for 15 days which is really really less for what this place is, and how I travel.
But deep down I am already excited, for I know I'll be leaving just to come back again, for more dreamy experiences, stories, climbing, and having the time of my life at a place, which has it all!

Feet were hurting, the temperature was in negative but the heart still felt warm – a trek that I gifted myself on my 25th birthday and trust me, it could not have gotten any better.

Kashmir Tarsar Lake 2015
The Tarsar Lake is dominated by the peaks of the Kolahoi mountain massif some 20 km to the east. The lake is separated by a mountain with a minimum peak elevation of 4,000 metres (13,000 ft) from another lake of the same nature known as Marsar Lake, which is in the vicinity of Dachigam National Park. Together these two lakes are referred to as the twin sisters. The 16th-century Kashmiri ruler Yusuf Shah Chak mentioned the twin lakes in his poetry, writing to his beloved:
When I remember the two tresses of the comely beloved,
Tears begin to flow from my eyes like streams from Tarsar and Marsar.
The Tarsar Lake is drained by an outlet stream which falls into the Lidder River at Lidderwat, 15 km to the east. Being the nearest seasonal settlement, Lidderwat is located on the trek route to the lake from Aru, Pahalgam. The Marsar Lake on the other hand drains out and flows in the opposite direction of the Tarsar Lake.
Tarsar Marsar lake | Kashmir
Tarsar and Marsar the two lakes located in Between Mountains of Pulwama, Srinagar & Anantnag districts. There are multiple routes to trek Tarsar Marsar one from Tral area, one from Bathan Area and also for Anantnag district residents they have Pahalgam route. The Srinagar district has the Harwan route to trek. The video was shot on July 2016. #kashmirtourism
Our route is from Bathan area, Bathan area the last residential area and where we have to hop off from vehicles to trek. It is near TCI MAX Cements. Because it`s located miles away from residential areas there are also sub-routes in between the main routes while they eventually lead the same destination.
As I said earlier these are two lakes, their names are kind of derived from the legend that {Tar-sar} which means one who lets you pass in the Kashmiri language while {Mar-sar} is the one who doesn't let you pass or in other words kills you. for reasons unknown, Some fabricated this myth because they didn't want people to know about this location.
Tar Means the one who guides or it means who lets pass. Sar means a lake. Mar means a killer. of course, it is a legend

Several Villages of Pulwama Find it difficult to Reach Tral town due to Non-Availability of a Bridge
The absence of a bridge over the stream in Tral of Pulwama district which connects Tral town with Kanil Mohalla has made it risky to tread this spot. The Mohalla is connected by a link road which connects not only this village but also five other adjacent villages with the main town. Several students have drowned in this stream in the past, Zahid Maqbool reports
Trekking to Marsar and Sundarsar Lake 2016
Among the alpine lakes dotting Aru Valley, Marsar Lake is a beautiful alpine water body full of scenic natural beauty. The lake is located at a distance of about 5 km from Nagberan village. Marsar Lake along with Tarsar Lake forms a challenging trekking trail that adds another feature to the adventure of Jammu and Kashmir tourism.
According to the regional folklore, there are multiple superstitions attached with Marsar Lake and that’s why the surrounding area gives a deserted look but still the rocky terrain around the lake attracts trekking lovers from all the corners of the world thus making the lake a well-known name among Pahalgam tourist places to visit.
The Sundarsar lake although not as large as Tarsar or Marsar, but nevertheless gives we a pretty view of nature's grace on human .
